Annual Pass Previews of Pandora - The World of Avatar beginning May 13

We were there on Saturday (6-8pm preview). Pandora is amazing; both attractions are outstanding. FoP exceeded our expectations and it honestly the best attraction I have ever experienced.

The attention to detail and immerse theme is top notch, and it fits in perfectly at AK. My only subtle complaint is that the actual area is a little small. Once you see what has been accomplished, you just want more. Cannot wait to go back in June.
Thank you! I get the impression that it is small but mighty. I can't wait.

I don't get it, they are entirely different types of rides A much better comparison is the Simpsons Ride.

Because both are the pinnacle of each company's ride portfolio in Florida? Why do you compare a 458 against a 918? Very different but both are designed to do the same thing in the marketplace.

Agreed with this.

I really liked FJ. I was spoiler free riding it and it slightly terrified me going practically upwards, but it's a great ride. I wasn't loving the screens part. I'd actually prefer it to be 3D. I found the screens a bit blurry. It really is a great ride though. I'd have to say though I liked Gringotts more and I know that's not a popular opinion.

It does sound like FOP really immerses you. I guess, hopefully, I'll see on Thursday.

Side note FOP image quality is amazing no blurr.

Oh then Forbidden Journey wins, although I still think Spiderman is better than either. FOP made me think of the first time I rode back to the future, so it just seems like an evolution of that type of simulator to me. It's very good, but I think some people are overstating it.

Your last point makes your first point invalid. And I'm honestly amazed people are comparing FOP to the Simpson's? Really? The only thing they share is a giant screen. The range of motion on FOP is far better and includes real drops. Furthermore the Simpson's is crap and is a nausea generating machine. FOP is not. I bash Disney more than i defend them and here i am defending them against some onslaught of second rate rides.

I compared it to Simpsons, but only how the ride is loaded. Otherwise it's like Soarin, maybe mixed with the single rider interaction of Sum of All Thrills.

BttF was my favorite ride growing up, this is not a slight on FoP whatsoever, Flight of Passage reminded me of the first time I rode it when it was most definitely state of the art. The setup is similar with the various bays and platform where you can see the other platforms in front of the screen. I wish they would upgrade the Simpsons to something similar to FoP, but it hasn't aged too well. FoP is like a big evolution of that style of ride which is great. It's just not my favorite style of ride anymore. You are even about the same distance from the screen in both rides.

Someone near us when I rode FoP over the weekend threw up -- I watched the custodial folks run to it-- so it does have some issues with motion sickness as well.

My boyfriend, myself, and our friends attended the annual pass preview on Monday 5/15. When I originally set up the original reservation I chose the 6:00pm-8:00pm slot hoping to spend more time in the land.

The entire entry process was a complete breeze! We began to line up around 4:30pm and by 5:00pm they let us enter the land. We left the land that evening at around 8:40pm. In total we had almost four hours exploring Pandora.

The cast member scanned my magic band and asked how many was in our party. I pointed out my guests and he let us in, without scanning their magic bands. I found this interesting because I had heard that they were being very strict. One person in our party was not part of our reservation, but we thought it was worth a shot and we were right, as she was let in the land with us. Again, the cast member only scanned my magic band, not the rest of my party. I had a confirmed reservation for 4 and 5 of us were let in. I’m not sure if this is common, or if the cast member was supposed to scan each of our magic bands. Regardless, we had one extra guest with us.

As we approached the bridge to Pandora, two cast members were giving out fastpasses for ‘Flights Of Passage’. The return time was 5:00pm-5:15pm. No matter what time you entered the land, they were giving out fast passes for ‘Flights Of Passage’, just at different times. So if you want everyone in your party to ride during the same time, please make sure your entire party is with you when you enter. Throughout the evening we continued to see people enter FOP with different fastpass times. I thought this was very accommodating, as I lined up early because I feared that they were only giving out a limited number of FOP fastpasses.

THE FOLLOWING MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!

Flights Of Passage:
We decided to go straight to this attraction, before stopping to take photos or anything else. The entire queue is a blur to me because it was a literal walk on. You are assigned a number and then enter the de-contamination room. Here the world of Pandora, a slight history, and some interesting tidbits are taught to you. The de-contamination process was a lot of fun. Then you enter another room, before you board, and are given your 3-D glasses. Another video is shown where the head scientist explains to you what is about to happen. You then enter another room where you see a row of bike-like vehicles. There is also storage for your belongings on a back wall. You then board the bike and wait to be linked to you Avatar.

The ride is the most exhilarating thing I have ever experienced. The imagery, the sounds, the scents, and the feelings are truly breathtaking. Yes, it is a screen based ride, but I never felt so awe-inspired on an attraction before. The whole experience was beautiful and I cannot wait to ride again.

Navii River Journey
We rode this twice. It was a walk on each time. The animatronic is the best part of the attraction. I loved how the screens looked so dimensional. It’s a beautiful ride, but not something I’d wait more than 15 minutes for.

Satu’li Canteen
The food here is delicious. We each ordered a different custom bowl, the dumplings and the Blueberry dessert. Everything tastes so fresh. It’s not what you’d expect from Disney Quick Service.

Having been to Tokyo Disneyland a few times, my boyfriend and I loved to see the use of actual silver wear and plates, as opposed to your typical quick service disposable wear. The seating was a bit odd, as you have no choice but to sit with another party. It truly is cafeteria style seating.

The food here is on another level for Disney quick service.

The Land:
We spent a great deal of time exploring and taking photos. We tried the specialty beverage, and also did some shopping. The land is small and there isn’t much to do. Despite this, the level of detail is amazing. Every little thing you see tells a story. You can spend hours just trying to discover new details.

We stayed until after sunset, but were informed that none of the Bioluminescence Plants would be on during previews. Some effects were working, such as seeing the ground light up in different designs and colors. I cannot wait to experience this land at night once everything is on. I can already tell that we will be spending a lot of time here this summer, and I can’t wait.

I had the same feelings as when I experienced Tokyo Disney Sea for the first time. I was completely immersed. It’s nice to see something like this at Walt Disney World. After looking at the same tired things, this is truly the next level theme park experience. It’s about time Walt Disney World caught up.

If anyone is interested in photos, I have tons.

It is so hard to sort though this sub forum. Are people liking Pandora?? :)
The general consensus is that the overall theming is exquisite. FoP is generally being reviewed as the best ride in Orlando now. Although I still have it at a close number 2 behind Forbidden Journey.... Side note.... The green stuff covering all the rocks and stuff seemed to flake off by barely touching it. That will be interesting to see how they handle that going forward.

I don't think that's a general consensus. It's an awesome ride, I mean it's incredible but there is pretty stiff competition. "Best" is pretty subjective as well.

I agree but it seems like I'm hearing and reading a lot of people saying it's the best attraction in Orlando or that it's a 10/10 etc.

I've said it's an 11/10, and it is. It's probably not going to be the best attraction though for someone who lives for roller coasters, or anyone who can't ride it at all.

I've had some time to let it soak in, and I'll still rank it an 11/10 but I also rank FoP and Spider Man 11/10.

Is it worth a 3-6 hour wait? Definitely not.

Nothing is worth a 3-6 hour wait. Nothing! My cutoff is about 45 minutes unless it's a brand new attraction and I'll stretch it to 60 but that's it.

I don't even wait that long. If I can't FP+ it or use express after 4pm and it's more than a 10 minute wait I'm out. #AnnualPassholderProblems

We waited two hours (One due to ride capacity issues), and I still felt it was worth it. And normally my cutoff is 30-45 mins for a ride.
For riding it not the first time, I could prob see myself waiting up to an hour for it, especially if I am with those who have not ridden.

First time, one hour? Yeah, maybe even an hour and thirty.
