I totally understand the want for Martin to reveal everything, and we (I) analyze his every post... but he's clearly stated that he's revealed what he can, and I have no doubt that he'll share what he can when the time is right. Let's not pressure the man and respect that he has boundaries. Is one of the two favorites one of your favorties?
ohh right on..carry on...
Nuff said.
This is a cover. It is NOT the Beatles.
My point is that Beatle's covers make me sad. If anyone out there is thinking of covering a Beatles song, just don't.
I dont know...Joe cocker did a couple of amazing Beatles coversMy point is that Beatle's covers make me sad. If anyone out there is thinking of covering a Beatles song, just don't.
I'm a 20 something and have been listening to the White Album, Sgt. Pepper, and Revolver in my car. Going to the beach this weekend and with all the talk here maybe switching a few out for Abby Road... also on the Paul comment we had a HS teacher that devoted half the year to explaining and talking about that... good times!
So if a Beatles ride is in the works I'm all for it!
No I'm from outside of Philly in PA, St. Pius X class of 2010. Glad to see art&music teachers everywhere teaching the good stuff!!Do you happen to live in upstate SC and go to Eastside High? Same thing happened to me
Ha, this was our history teacher that was a coach. All I had to do was mention something about the Paul is dead references in the albums and he was off for the remainder of the period talking about itNo I'm from outside of Philly in PA, St. Pius X class of 2010. Same. A lot of 30/40 year olds are familar with "old stuff" I grew up as a kid watching old reruns on Nick@Nite and listening to the oldies station (I loved a lot of the songs used in Guardians before they became popular from it all over again, for example). I also educate myself on things.
Now teens and even 20 year olds? That I agree with. Most probably don't know or care about a lot of that stuff. With technology at their fingertips 24/7 you'd think they'd educate themselves on things ... but they'd rather take selfies and snapchat and instagaram and facebook for likes. Shame.
I'm glad I was born when I was.
Maybe i'm just viewing from a distorted lens, But to say "most probably don't know or care about a lot of that stuff" seems very wrong/misguided. Yes they are fools that have no knowledge of anything past their Instagram feed, but i don't believe that is the norm. There has always been a mass adoration of the 60s/70s culture (in my lifetime), with a emphasis on music. Go to any school nation wide and you'll see tons of younger people wearing classic rock band tees, especially the Beatles. Just because millennials have a section of vapid/shallow people, doesn't mean that's everyone. I'd be hard pressed to find a single person in my age bracket that hasn't at least heard some songs by bands like the Beatles/stones/led zeppelin. (for reference i am 20.)
Over all I agree with this- but I must say I think the Carpenters version of Ticket to Ride is incredible. Karen had an amazing voice. My point is that Beatle's covers make me sad. If anyone out there is thinking of covering a Beatles song, just don't.
I like the Carpenters, but no thank you. Joe Cocker did a great "cover", but it was really his own fantastic version of a Beatles song. He made it his own, so that is different.Over all I agree with this- but I must say I think the Carpenters version of Ticket to Ride is incredible. Karen had an amazing voice.
I think Elton's version is better than the Beatles, and so did John Lennon (Who sang and played on it.).See Elton John's cover of Lucy In the Sky for the low point. I would say it was William Shatner's version, but I pretend that never happened.
