EPCOT Announced: Mary Poppins Attraction in UK Pavilion

This is Chapek. If we get anything, it will be MPR. I actually really enjoyed it and Emily Blunt is fabulous (and perhaps closer to the book version) but Julie is incomparable and far too iconic in the role. It was an impossible task.

On the other hand, I adore LMM but he just isn’t the best vocalist. I wish he’d stay on the creative side.
I thought it was well made.

Mary poppins is my favorite Disney movie ever…and it’s not that close. I honestly don’t know how it’s not everyone’s???

…but anyway, the problem with returns is it was a straight up remake…or the “Disney brand” remake…

Where they “change” everything…so fans can scream ORIGINAL!!!…but if you split screen it, it’s a total doppelgänger.

Like step in time and the lamppost scene.

At some point, you have to question if they’re that cynical or think everyone is that stupid?

Well, I must be THAT stupid. I LOVE the first one. And, I love the second one. Maybe it is because they're so close. Each has special scenes that are or will become iconic. And, I thought LMM was good in his part. His singing was supposed to be a bit "off" when compared to Blunt's. Seemed a good pairing to this bird.

I would agree...The MPR was tonally a perfect fit to the tone and style of the original film, and everyone was very good in it... It is just a shame that there was a first version to compare it to...It was a lovely charming film...and how nice that it wasn't a cartoon or a superhero movie for once...

It was indeed highly derivative of the first film but I suspect many would’ve been angry if it wasn’t so clearly a Mary Poppins movie. It was a hard task after so many decades, but I appreciate it nonetheless.
…or

“It’s been so long, let’s be super conservative and do the same thing! Kids don’t have the internet, so they’ll never realize!”

…there are other…many…other examples

You both are agreeing with me…and that’s the problem (always 🤪)

The problem was it was shot as a 1964 film…in high def - which makes it look old hat.

I love that Disney made movies like saving mr banks, Christopher Robin and MPR…but Iger the accountant wouldn’t approve them unless they hedged by being overly reverent…

I mean…the final kite song became a final balloon song…sung by Miss Price/Mrs Potts when Julie Andrews said no

I tried (I really did) to like Christopher Robin. But, just couldn't get into it. Maybe I really do have the attention span of a bird!
I thought it was decent overall, but couldn't help but feel like it was a bit too... "contained"? For some reason I think Disney played it very safe and didn't really let it breathe.

I could also see some people being turned off by the character designs.

So in doing research for my Mary Poppins video I stumbled across a high resolution digital version of the Cherry Tree Lane overview artwork that was shown on stage briefly at D23 Expo. And so I thought you'd all enjoy and admire the beautiful digital version instead of having to make do with a photo of the screen that showed the artwork in a low resolution blurry image. I've been assured that this artwork was created for the intention of showcasing it at D23 Expo, so weird that they never formally released it.

I think it’s much more likely they build this now after the French expansion…

This kind “town” concept can stash/eat a lot of people and they are woefully underbuilt

Thanks for the great photo! I'd be SO EXCITED to walk down Cherry Tree Lane, either the MP1 or MP2 version. They could do so much with this concept. Hope springs eternal that the stars will align and this gets greenlit. But, I can dream about it instead!

Great photo. The facades look great but there is very limited pace behind them. Would not be able to house a show building how it is set up back there right now, curious if there were ever blue prints created for this. The red line is access for cast busses, special event transport, emergency vehicles, and deliveries. The yellow is also storage and coolers for Rose & Crown. Totally not impossible to change around Im just wondering what they would do to still allow emergency access to these areas.

I think it was supposed to go in the space south of your red marks and west of your yellow mark, eliminating the garden/gazebo. It wouldn't have needed a big show building if it was just a carousel behind the facades.

I wish they'd get rid of the "temporary" tent and use that space for something worthwhile, though.

Or rework the tent and make the entrance to it park of the new UK facade

They could put a whole new country there if they ever actually wanted to (seems like they don't, though).
yep..if they couldn't get Brazil between Germany and Italy, one isn't happening over there either. But both the tent and the Norway meetngreet are expendable if they ever so wanted to, someday, one day,,,a day none of us will probably ever see.

@przidentkendall lays out the supposed spot in his video. Makes a lot of sense logistically and the concept art seems to indicate that the majority of the show building would be where the gazebo is and extending towards the pathway close to the International Gateway. Roughly the size of Pooh’s dark ride in MK.
