This is my biggest worry about a Mary Poppins ride. There are so many different stories being told in the film and lots of memorable moments, how on earth do you pick a few to bring to life in a ride without truncating it horribly like Mermaid?!

The original Tony Baxter proposal is an excellent starting point for Imagineering. It was ambitious, even for its time, but something akin to that would be nice. Making you an active participant in the story, instead of just a passive observer (Mermaid) would be a jolly good time.

Hopefully they don't make the same mediocre mistake that they did with Mermaid with a passive retelling of the movie. Instead of trying to squeeze the plot of a movie into a 2 minute dark ride, just set it up as a series of familiar experiences inspired by the film.

The classic Fantasyland dark rides do this brilliantly. You're not just sat in a car being retold a story that you already know. Instead, you're actively participating in the story as it happens around you.

I'm very excited but also very nervous when it comes to the possibility of them building a dark ride for Poppins.

the story doesn't really matter... I want to be awed I want to be dropped into the story and forget that I'm not in that world. To me that's what makes peter pan awesome.. brings out the child like emotions of wonder.

so immersion, and something longer than 2 mins.. ill be happy
Do we know that is is not going to just be a Carousel or spinner? That was what I heard last Have they upped the budget and decided to do a dark ride?

But I thought they were building a B to C- attraction...not a dark ride but smething more like a carousel or spinner... Did they all of the sudden increase the budget?

Well, Brave was meant to be a dark ride once upon a time. Though I wouldn’t say Omnimover. Given the project should have had a budget increase here’s hoping.

Martin's post is probably the best information we have right now that the budget should have been increased. So hopefully, since Brave was once thought to be a dark ride, Poppins will at least be better than a spinner.

I hope they get started soon with this and put an end to this agony. :)

I'm excited too. I love Poppins and I've wanted a dark ride for so long. I feel much more invested in this ride coming than the others. I hope they do it right but I'm concerned because they seemed to be unable to decide if it would be a dark ride or not. So I will remain worried about it until I'm convinced they're going through with it :joyfull: (of course I know and believe the insiders who say it's happening - at this moment in time - but it's Disney who I don't trust)

They've let me down before so I hope I'm not let down this time.

Now that Poppins is in the pipeline, let's hope my other fantasy of an Indy boat ride in DHS happens ....
Are DAK and DHS still battling on who gets to use the IP?
