Well, for one, it was 1900’s boardwalk pier, not a 30’s/40’s one.

So they already failed in making that easily understandable, considering so many design elements in the land just read as cheap contemporary.

Paradise Pier never transported you the same way Main Street does.

It's supposed to be late 20's/early 30's...hence the references to Mickey Mouse in both the attractions and fake newspapers/magazines at the Churro stand disguised as a News stand.

Me too. It’s not been said directly to me but I’m wondering if they think Gran Fiesta is "good enough" for now. Which in the grand scheme of things it is IMHO.
I'm happy with gran fiesta, I like seeing Donald duck and honestly I like a ride that isn't an hour wait. To me the parks need more walk on rides that still have a Disney feel. IF there were more rides like this maybe the crowds would thin. Instead they remove these rides and replace them with something that will generate more lines, instead of just keeping these little people eaters and adding a separate new people eater. Coco would make a great ride but why remove a ride that is already built and is prob easily maintained with little staff. I understand energy as that was a huge show building with lots of workers and maintenance.

Pretty sure this is the 1900’s
It’s a Victorian pier

I can see that.

Do the stores that line the back of the queue for the ride really make that much money? Just wondering because they often seem empty but I guess they could still make money and enough to where they don't want to use it as queue space. Just wondering why there seems to be a hesitation regarding the queue because it's fixable. Of course that means spending money ....
The blown glass shop is always crowded. My wife likes to stop in there after the ride and usually picks up a small item.

The other shop (closer to the front), I'm not so sure about. Speaking of this shop, does anyone know why they have a wheel chair elevator in here? It's behind the sales counter...

Presumably in case anyone needing to get to the Illuminations control room uses a wheelchair.

Is it still controlled from there, I know it used to be?

On my last trip early December I too was greeted with a line, of sorts.

Bit of an unpleasant surprise, really. :(
Together with the Peoplemover they were my two 'always walk-on' plan B's if all else was busy. No longer the case for either then, possibly.

The PeopleMover almost always has a line now and it's sad indeed

I've still been able to walk onto Gran Fiesta at times, but it could be my timing ...
