News Announced: Mary Poppins Attraction in UK Pavilion

Imagine if Disney bought the rights to HP. I could see the school sitting up high above the UK pavilion.

Didn't they try? If I remember correctly it was offered to them first but they refused to allow JKR any creative rights or something; she walked across town to Universal, who said "of course Joanne, you'll be involved the whole way through". Disney learnt it's lesson, and got Avatar and James Cameron. Or is this urban myth?

Yes. That is why I said it. As they think about an attraction for the UK pavilion, I bet they are now shooting themselves for not trying harder to get HP.

$5 to anyone who can make it to the end of this video without ripping out their eyes or smashing their computer...

If you've seen even 5 minutes of any of the cartoons or movies Barbie has made...just hearing the music makes you feel stabby. Also, have you seen the ridiculousness that is their newest line of PC dolls? GAG.

But it is true, unlike classics like Dumbo and Bambi, Mary Poppins hasn't really lived on, it has been somewhat forgotten, anyone under 25 wouldn't know most of the scenes in it, and it would become a ride that people just walk past and they think: "Mmmmmmm, let's just go on Living with the Land or Soarin'."

HAHAHA...you wouldn't want to say that in some of the FB groups...Mary is still VERY popular.

Frozen snafu is completely due to the fact they reused the old ride system. That IP deserved so much more...not a cheap low capacity shoehorn.

Fantasyland is bursting at the seams I dislike even walking there...strollers by the thousands....lines everywhere a terrible place no doubt. Children's rides NEED to be build at the other three parks badly we can argue the synergy of WS until we are blue in the face but the three secondary parks HAVE TO start snagging attendance from MK. one way to do that? Children's rides everywhere.

I agree about Frozen...I think the ride is beautiful, but the feel of the track doesn't suit the sets. (Also, I was a little peeved when we went on it last year that they were only loading 2 per row when my family of 4 could have fit in one row with room to spare.)

My youngest just turned six and his first Disney trip sans stroller was when he was 4. I really don't understand why moms are so attached to strollers these days - let the kids walk for pete's sake! If they need a break, you sit down and break out a snack for a few minutes, big deal! (Also, my boys - now 6 and 11 - each have their own belly-pack to carry their little distractions, and as they age, if they want more, they each have a backpack they can carry if they want, so "to carry stuff", for me at least, isn't a reason to stay attached to a stroller.)

And I agree 100% with needing to spread the crowds among all the space, parks, attractions, etc.. People think MK is the only one little kids enjoy...to that I say %(#$*(#&@!!!! My sons have adored ALL of the parks since we started bringing them at 2 1/2 and 7 years old, and in fact we spend multiple days at each park every trip we take - even if we split the days between 2 different ones. So yes, I think they need to add attractions (mostly rides, but not necessarily ALL rides) that kids will gravitate to in EPCOT, Studios and Animal Kingdom.

Also...they need to do something about how AK is so dang stiflingly oppressive with its still air. Yes, they have fans in some of the queues, but in general the air just doesn't move. I love tropical temps, but cripes...MK, EPCOT, and Studios feel so much cooler temp-wise than AK does. Maybe add some misting stations like they have in Tomorrowland and a splash area like Casey's? I'd rather be damp and have water evaporating off me to cool me down than to literally feel like I'm being slowly steamed in my own sweat. (Kali River is a BLESSING, but how many times can you go through that horrendous line?)

That's because you aren't expected to know Song of the South, as it is in essence a ride that isn't based on a film(as just about nobody has actually seen the film), but with a Mary Poppins ride, you are sort of expected to know the storyline of the film and every major event.

They managed to make Splash Mtn. stand on it's own...I'm sure they could manage the same thing with Mary Poppins. And yes, I've seen Song of the South many times (seriously dating myself, there), and they used to show the shorts on TV when I was a kid, too.

I'd prefer CMs in black spandex body suits pushing my car around.
Sprockets ride in Germany confirmed!

Yeah, you wouldn't want Disney to completely ruin it like they ruined everything that is Pixar, LucasFilm, and Marvel!!

WHOA. I rather love what they've done so far. So does my husband...and he's a pretty hardcore fan. (His brother doesn't like the new SW though...so there's that.)

Why though? The little kids can go to Legoland. Or Disney can build a kiddie park.

It's bad enough the MK has been destroyed for that locust plague of the stroller brigade. Please not the other parks too!

I think Pans wait times are primarily because there is basically zero FP queue there to make use of. People waiting for the FP entrance almost immedately start to block the street, so they feed them in as soon as they arrive, whenever they arrive, which can cause huge stalls in the main line.

Isn't it also the slowest loading ride on the Orlando property?
