Animatronic functions turned off at Dinosaur?

The reality is... you can't take people's reports at face value because honestly most people don't even know what the working condition really looks like.

From first hand experience I can report that I was amazed about the details and effects I saw on Splash Mountain, a ride that I had first seen in 2004 and since then had many rides on it. I could tell in 2011 that there were things lacking as compared to what I had seen before. But when I saw the refurbished Splash Mountain I realised that there were things that I had never seen before.

Dinosaur on the other hand is a ride that I usually suffered through with closed eyes (I am easily scared by sudden noises and movements). Only on my last trip in 2011 I started to appreciate it. And when I rode it this spring even I noticed that things were missing or not moving. And it felt more generally empty.

Mud, No. Cardboard boxes, Yes. Still, you miss the simple fact that quality is a relative and personal thing. This is why the yeti need not move for people to love EE.

No, quality is not purely a personal thing. Enjoyment, yes. But as for any other art, there are experts who are able to judge the quality of a product. In my opinion people like Martin who have devoted so much energy to research the history and planning of attractions certainly ought to be considered experts for themed attractions. The same applies to some of the people who are from the industry who post here.

It is still a relative and personal thing. A professional can give his opinion, but it's still an opinion that was shaped by his experience and biases.

Also, I would hardly call the investment in MM+ to be 'minimal'. Again, just because you don't approve of how they make these investments doesn't mean that they aren't being made.
Never called it minimal. 2 billion+, as it now stands is far from it. More like misplaced.

I'm not a "Uni fan". I'm a fan of quality. That's why I fell in love with WDW decades ago. And that's why we won't be renewing our APs.

Since you brought it up, my three year old isn't going to care much whether the yeti moves. However, Cinderella knowing her name is likely to leave an impression.
Not everybody that goes is 3 years old though. Some of us love the place no matter what age we are so its not fair to just leave out Effects that make rides cooler for the older crowd just because "we base our products off of kids". I have a hard time relating to that mentality!

Honestly Its hard to compare UNI and Disney at this point. UNI is finally starting to make a comeback and Disney has been the Big Kid on the Block for a LOOOOONG time. Its hard to pass just based on the history alone. But if things keep going as they are today in terms of quality and Innovation....then yes UNI will be ahead of the pack!

I am sorry but a part that separates UNI from Disney is the Detail. Disney use to be top notch with details, innovation, theming, story, and quality of all that. Now its like they don't care as much so every couple of years a ride will get a 3 month refurb or go down for a paint job. I am sorry but eventually that wont cut it in a few years anymore. The Yeti is a big deal, Dinosaur being broken is a big deal, DHS lame left side is a problem, Epcots futuristic 80's and mix matched rides is a problem. These are things that need addressing before Princess Halls and Magical Wristbands! I know this is my opinion but I really dislike it when we give Disney Credit for poor additions compared to what they use to be able to do. It makes me sad actually! sorry for the rant!

So what everyone is saying is that Dinosaur went the route of Jurassic Park in IOA.

Many similarities, non-functional AA, poor show, etc. My last trip was in 2010. Dinosaur was running fine. But Jurassic park was dead on arrival.

Yes but UNI has a bigger problem IMO. Jurassic park with working effects is still a worse ride then Dinosaur with unseen/seen broken effects!

Don't agree. Playing in a cardboard box is not quality themed entertainment. No matter how much a 3 year old enjoys it.

Just got a refurb last week, will get a massive upgrade next year. If only the same could be said about Dinosour.

P.S Uni is quite different then it was 3 years ago, I'd recommend a trip back!

I agree. If UNI can atleast upgrade the Dinosaurs....it might be awesome!

Never understood the hate for Jurassic Park. The only dinosaur that I think looks bad is the very first one you see. Sure, story-wise, its a lot less creative than Dinosaur, but its still good.
I don't hate it but considering its Jurassic Park, one of the best if no the best DINOSAUR movie out there created a good ride where was Disney created an AWESOME thrilling Dinosaur ride based on a kids movie....it just seems less amazing. But I still really like the Jurassic Park area in general.

I'm not making that argument. I was merely responding to the idea that the stuff for the kids doesn't matter.

Who said that playing in a cardboard box was 'quality themed entertainment'? That being said, the fact that a child will have tons of fun repeatedly playing with a cardboard box highlights the fact that quality is relative. Should I mention that she used her crayons to turn the box into a castle? I guess it is quality themed entertainment. Go figure.

And it just reopened after refurb and looks pretty much like opening day. Something Dinosaur does not.
