I agree with Yoda; a giant panda would go miles for helping AK to receive major respect with those in the zoological community.

Getting a giant panda however is controlled entirely (for the most part) by the Chinese government so Disney will have a very difficult time getting one or two. For example see the story of Tai Shan being removed from the National Zoo in DC earlier this year. All Giant Pandas in the US are on "loan" from the Chinese gov't and there are only two zoos in the US that have them.

I would love to see Pandas at Animal Kingdom!!!!!!!! That's the reason my then 7 yr old said our trip was 99.99% perfect.

That being said, it would be an amazing addition to the China section of DAK and would absolutely love seeing them there. If you haven't seen a Panda in person, it's an amazing experience.

.

We have Pandas in our Zoo since the early 80ies, a present of the Chinese government to the former West-German chancellor Helmut Schmidt. And they are really BORING. All they do is lying around on their back and if you are lucky the are eating. And if you are visiting the zoo a lot you will finally on some really lucky day even see them WALK (but the chance is VERY slim) I am visiting our Zoo a lot because I have an annual ticket and I assure you after you saw them once the hype is gone. They are some of the most inactive and boring mammals I have ever seen, they are very rare, thats the only reason people like to see them.

The same is true for kola bears as well but they are one hell of a draw to a park. A panda exhibit at AK would draw crowds on par with the opening of E:E. Put the word "limited time" on the exhibit and AK might rival Epcot in attendance numbers.

Again this talk about an Australian land in DAK. Is there a real plan existing or is this just fan lore? I don't believe they will add Australia. What ride and other attraction opportunities does Australia offer? An outback tour ride like Kilimanjaro Safari but instead of not showing the Kilimanjaro they are not showing Ayers Rock and we get to see kangaroos and koalas presented to us by a lot of CM all named Bruce? Or a thrill ride based on the idea "meet the worlds most venomous animals"? I don't see any interesting attraction ideas for an Australian Pavillon.
South America would be much more interesting.

I agree. I think it would be huge for DAK and draw lots of guests to the park.

Where would you put it? :lookaroun

I would either put it somewhere around Discovery Island or the Oasis but just for fun how about putting it somewhere in the Boneyard I can't imagine any children would go missing. :lookaroun

I suppose DAK could add a new land centered around South America.

You know, there had been so much talk about adding Austrailia to the park. While I like the idea, what kind of attractions would they have?

Personally, I have to go with the Arctic idea. Anything that could be placed indoors is a plus. There are so few indoor spots at AK, and having an indoor polar type habitat would be greatly welcomed. I seriously think it'd be cool too if they somehow came up with a dark ride or coaster ride through an ice-mountain castle like the one they use as the Disneynature logo...that would be such a cool addition. And it definitely could be the park's next E-ticket attraction, which it needs badly.

A rollercoaster through an ice mountain? Some naysayers could argue, that this idea is not exactly unique to DAK with EE already existing.

They can always create a swim with a Saltwater Crocodile attraction. Is that interesting enough for you?
