Animal Kingdom Tips?

Hi! :)

I am going to visit Animal Kingdom at WDW in Orlando soon, and I was wondering if any one had any tips of cool things to see or do there. I know every park has funny or important things hidden and I was hoping a member here knew of any at the AK. For example, I recently learned there is a secret spot in Islands of Adventure where there is a statue of classic Dr. Seuss characters - they were actually the first things to be built in the park! Or how at Muppetvision 3-D in Disney Hollywood Studios, there is a key hidden under a mat at the entrance under a sign that actually says, "Be back in 5. Key is under the mat." Anything like that would be helpful!

Thanks in advance!

Also, does anyone know the fastest way from the Entrance of Animal Kingdom to the Safari ride? I plan on jetting to the safari as soon as the AK opens on January 4th to the ride - it seems the animals are most active then?

I think this is the kind of stuff you are looking for - in Dino Land USA, if you step on the dino foot prints, you will hear them roar. Is that the kind of stuff?

Have fun!

There is always the mystery Path between Africa and Asia. Also there are a bunch of animals and a waterfall behind the tree of life. Every time I go back there there is no one there and it is a pretty cool view of the tree.

Can you be more specific on the location of the path? I've heard of it, but I never understood where it's located. And thanks for the tip on the Tree of Life! I'll check it out! :)

the best way is to make 8am adrs for donalds safari breakfast at tusker house, when you're done eating you can head right over to the ride. just don't make them for a day when animal kingdom has morning extra magic hours.

As you enter the park and go through the Oasis, I believe that is where De Vine is (stilt walker who blends into the trees). If this is not the correct place to see her, please correct me. I have the Imagineering Animal Kingdom book and i'll look at it and see if I can find anything else. :)

There is so much stuff to see at AK. The best tip I can give you is look all round you at all times because the detail is incredible. From the 'rock formations' to the details in the building the whole place is immaculate.

Look out for DeVine and Wes Palm (are these still around?) in the parks for abit of entertainment too.

It's near a smoking spot towards the back of the park - something in my mind is telling me it's somewhere near Flights of Wonder but don't take that as a fact. I think it is pretty overgrown now too so you might have a hard time getting through it.

Take your time and experience the amazing detail in DAK. If you rush from ride to ride, you'll miss the point of the park. It's meant to be explored leisurely. Now for my tips:

1) Find the little side-trail to a great photo spot of the back of the Tree of Life. It's on the path between Asia and Africa, but I rarely see anyone down there.
2) Look for DeVine on this same path - amazing!
3) If the stand-by line is long, use the single riders line at EE.
4) The shows are scheduled in a way that makes it almost impossible to see them all. Be sure to catch, Finding Nemo, The Musical - it's the best show on propoerty (IMHO) - Broadway quality! Legend of the Lion King is also great.
5) If you go see Flights of Wonder - have a $1 bill handy and be the first to hold it up when they ask for a volunteer.

Have a wild time !

De-Vine is worth a see for sure. Ask a cast member near the entrance to Africa where she will be appearing. When we were there in September, she appeared just outside of Harambe, on the path that leads to Asia.

And as for Kilimanjaro Safaris, it was our experience that the animals were most active first thing in the morning. My partner loves the attraction, and we visited it at least 6 times during our stay, at different times of the day. The closer it was to opening, the more we saw.

With that said... if you can ride more than once, give it a shot a little later in the day as well. Since the animals have the ability to roam, you might get a better look or vantage point on a second ride.

Have fun!

In the Affection Section at Rafiki's Planet Watch they keep a turkey that was pardoned by president Bush last Thanksgiving. I haven't been there in a few months but I assume it's still there.
