Angry Pluto?

Oi.. California. I don't know about this, it seems planned to me, the way the kid makes a sudden turn right when the mother grabs Pluto and the fact she has a camera on him just seems wrong. I think people might be trying to get Disney in trouble on purpose to get money from them.. maybe not but that could be whats happening here.

Yes, I understand that. And if the child did, indeed, do something to him, I hope the mother disciplined him properly. But the fact is, the mother saw someone chasing her child. And she may not have even seen her child do what he did. It can happen so fast, the mother may have looked down at her watch and missed it, or maybe someone bumped into her and said "excuse me" and the mother turned around and smiled and said "no problem" and the kick happened when the mother's head was turned. Yes, I know...parents need to watch their kids. I get that. But we're not perfect either. There could be any number of reasons why our eyes are not on our kids the whole time at any given time. And a child can kick someone so fast, it's easy to turn your head for just a second and totally miss it. It doesn't make one a bad or irresponsible parent...just human. But perhaps the mother had no idea what her son did and all of the sudden she sees this guy chasing after her boy. IMO, pushing him to the ground is a reasonable act of defending her son. And that's assumming she DIDN'T know what he did. But like I said above, even if she DID see her son kick him, I'm sure she feels the same way I do about some total stranger coming after her son to lay a hand on him. And while she may have had every intention of addressing her son's behavior, she probably felt the same way I do about someone else touching her son.

I saw this video today. everyones right. There is no way to determine the begining of this. It looks like it could have all been in good fun tho.

From what I saw, the mother wasn't mad. She looked as though she were laughing and pointing at him like she was scolding a family pet. And I also think Pluto tripped. I could be wrong, but i never saw a push. He did look as though he was running full speed (or as fast as you can go in a Pluto costume) and the kid looked scared out of his mind. :ROFLOL: :ROFLOL: :ROFLOL: the *i got my eyes on you* thing he did at the end was hilarious!

That very well may be, but in this case it was a little kid. Now, I'm all for the right to self defense and all, but the rules are totally different when the offender is a little child. If a grown man, or even a punk teenager starts crap with a character then, I can agree that the character has a right to defend himself accordingly, even if it means knocking the punks block off.

But in this case, it was a little CHILD for Heaven's sake. Even if this child kicked him in the shin or even the crotch, you can't go chasing down a child. What's he gonna do when he catches him? Beat him up? Now I'm not saying that it is okay for kids to do this kind of stuff just because they are kids. But the proper way to handle it in that case is to deal with the parents about their child, not go chasing a child around...in a character costume no less. That's just opening the door to getting canned from your job, not to mention all kinds of legal trouble.

Well said...and i agree. Pluto may well have been stepping over the line a little by chasing this kid around....regardless of what had happened before the cameras were rolling.

It's a hard fact of reality i guess......even when someone pushes you over the line you still have to act professional.

If you watch closely after Pluto gets up and starts walking away, you see the little kid sticking his tongue out at him. Obviously the kid did something nasty but I think Pluto should have just reported the incident and just walked away. Now if it were someone older, that might be a different story. But like some others said, what was he planning on doing if he caught him. He also could have ended up falling on the kid, knocking out his teeth on the pavement or something.
Reminds me of an incident I saw at Universal last fall. A group of rowdy teenagers pretty much assaulted one of the Rugrat characters. They picked him up and dropped him crotch first onto the rail at the Shrek attraction. Universal employees escorted 3 of them away after it happened. Some people are just plain mean. I just don't get it.

some of them already think that they are
And for good reason. Guests will scream at the Characters that have to go offstage before they pass out and the attendant is the only line of defense the character has. Usually when Disney does something there is a good reason for it (union, OSHA, or if nothing else for the CM's well-being). Either way there was a serious breakdown in the chain of communication there. Also there should have been other CM's around there. Once during rope drop a character was lagging behind the rest and I noticed kids were holding on to his tail and he couldn't see them. I had to step in and help Pluto before he got trampled to death. (Darn you Soarin'!!!! Just kidding.) No one was acting right in the video we just need to learn from it and make sure we take extra special care of our furry friends ;)

Another reason why the whole "immature-locals-make-our-crampt-park-so-humble-and-at-home" feel of Disneyland is so "un-Disney" and tacky to me. I could never visualize this taking place at WDW.

Sorry to all the DL fanatics out there.....

I'm probably going to catch a beating for this as well but I felt the same thing when I visited DL. I didn't feel nearly the same magic as I do at WDW. Maybe I just like the variety more, or maybe the fact that it's a little more out of the way so more people are tourists. DL felt a little more like "You aren't from here so you won't get it. Why bother?" WDW feels a little more like "No one is from here so please do bother (mostly the CM's LOL!)" Maybe some people like the more exclusive nature of DL but personally it came off as snobby. But I digress...
