An Idea a day keeps the Doctors Away (Daily Open Brainstorming Prompts)

15 Day Streak

New Objective Set: 25!

Previous Idea:

We explored concepts for the fabled fifth gate. Touchstone City, an urban park themed to acquired IP, won out. The park featured an array of attractions based on Disney’s subsidiaries and even licensed IPs. Alien was a popular choice, for one.

Today’s challenge:

Today, we must... build a stand-alone Disney Resort ala Aulani. Aulani is evidence a Disney Resort doesn’t need a park to work. Where should it go? What should it have?

I think Las Vegas would be a good pick for the destination of this new stand-alone Resort. Features include Pleasure Island-style clubs, a lift service over to and from DLR, and plenty of new entertainment and cuisine elements! For instance, Deadpool could get his own shop. We’d feature several types of suite.
If I had to pick a location I think, New York City would work best.

If I remember my stats correctly, it has the second largest tourist numbers in the world, and there’s tons of iconic experiences to do that could be Disneyfied for the complex - Broadway, tours, etc.

Thanks again to @Miru for all the help keeping this going!

17 Day Streak!

Previous Day's Pitch

Our goal was to create a new DVC resort seperate from any Disney parks. NYC (possibly with some Gargoyles) and Cape Cod were some of the more popular ideas.

Today's Project

Our goal today is to replace or update Country Bear Jamboree. I figure that since there's the (most likely false considering the source) rumor about Country Bear's getting the boot in favor of Woody's Roundup, it might be an interesting thought experiment to come up with ideas for a hypothetical replacement or update.

Assume that, if it is replaced, the Country Bears will be relocated to Fort Wilderness. So, no guilt in getting rid of it. It's a decent enough sized theater. Tiki Room and Pecos Bill Restaurant are both connected to it if you want to free up more space.

If it was to get replaced, maybe something like Pocahontas could replace it. But never in a million years would I want CBJ tobe replaced with some lazy IP.
Count me in on Team Pocahontas. And as mentioned above the version in FW will be updated. Speaking of Tiki Room, why don’t we do “Aloha e Komo Mai” like in Tokyo, maybe adding the stuff from “Under New Management” too?

If a hypothetical Country Bear replacement isn't a fun project for the day, we could always go the other direction! There's an expansion pad near Splash Mountain, Disney+, video games, Critter Country, Fort Wilderness. We could come up with other ideas to use the Country Bears or a similar theme! New ride, new tv show, whatever!

Although I don't agree with replacing the Country Bears at the MK, I wouldn't necessarily mind a replacement for the tokyo version based on Woody's Roundup. I just imagine something like the puppetry tv show like in the movie, featuring songs and maybe it could feature some tall tales from the west. Like imagine woody meeting pecos bill or davy crockett and singing songs from the old west. The villain could be stinky pete trying to intervene with the show, but idk though the concept is weird since toy story takes place in modern times and frontierland in the late 1800s. If Disney somehow found a way to expand on Woody's backstory being that hes based on an actual famous cowboy from the old west, it might work, but without something like that it could always feel a bit out of place.

If moving original Country Bears, I'd go with a new show around with Song of the South Uncle Remus sing along. Make a high tech animatronic Uncle Remus (high tech like the Navi shaman/ Hondo ones) and the Brer Rabbit/Fox/Bear and other animals as a chorus animatronics. Some simple sing alongs for the show and maybe even a lyrics display overhead so people can easily sing along. A little bit of story time with Uncle Remus, making the whole thing a story time and sing along with Uncle Remus.
If we're wishing for things, might as well wish for things that Disney never go for in any case. (never agreed with blackballing Song of the South, can ya tell?)

That's an...interesting perspective. Anyways, this was tough, but I came up with something I'm proud of.
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Welcome to Mickey's Musical Celebration! The show's starting soon, so come on in. As you walk through Mickey's clubhouse, admire antiques from Disney's musical past. Take a look at the instruments of America Sings, admire outfits used in the Mickey Mouse Revue, and say hello to Country Bear Jamboree's Melvin, Buff, and Max. Then head inside and take a seat, the curtains are about to open. Our host will be Mickey himself, who cheerfully greets the audience.

He thanks everyone for coming and tells them that he's been thinking a lot about the magic of music, how songs can bring people together, no matter how different they are. In the spirit of that, he and his friends are going to put on a show sharing some of their favorites. Up first are the Country Bears. Henry tells the audience that while some might find a band made up of bears of all shapes and sizes funny, he's proud of it. Even with what separates them, they all share a love of music. They then perform "The Ballad of Davy Crockett", "Ole Slew Foot", and "Come Again".

Up next are Sam the eagle and the cast of America Sings. He proudly proclaims that embracing those different from you is a part of being an American, with his friend Ollie the owl adding that this diversity is the reason for America's rich musical history. Sam and friends sing "Yankee Doodle", "Hound Dog", and "Joy to the World".

Our final act is Mickey, along with Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, Huey, Dewie, and Louie. Donald complains that he doesn't have any singing parts, but Daisy reminds him that his favorite song is coming up, which brightens his mood. Mickey laughs and tells the audience that they've loved sharing their music with them. He encourages them to sing along for the last few tunes, before the mouse and his band play "Heigh-Ho", "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah", and the "Mickey Mouse March".

We hope you enjoyed the show! Come again any time.

I have a few new challenge ideas. Maybe for challenge #32 we could talk about ideas for the NYC Disney Resort as Vegas didn’t quite pan out. Maybe we could have a challenge to create a new waterslide for a waterpark? Or what to do with Discovery Island now that River Country is being torn down? Or add a tribute to a past attraction that currently doesn’t have a tribute?

I love all those ideas! If you want, I'd be totally cool if you wanna take over as "host" for this full time. Just let me know and I can take it back over (or someone else can) if you ever get bored/busy.

My turn!

18 Day Streak
Next goal: 25

Last time on this topic, we discussed replacements and revisions to Country Bear Jamboree in WDW. Pocahontas at first took a lead, but others wanted to combine CBJ with America Sings and the Mickey Mouse Revue into one mega-show, which ultimately proved more popular.

Today’s challenge...

How would Disney tackle a rollercoaster with a thrill level more akin to Cedar Fair? It could be a gigacoaster, a 4D Coaster, etc., but it still has to have a Disney touch to it, so not like California Screamin.

I’d go for a gigacoaster, likely enclosed.

Hmmmmmm

I could see a Hyper coaster (I think that's the name) similar to Incredible Hulk going into Epcot between Land and Seas Pavilion. Set it up as a sort of "Sky" Pavilion. Have it mostly outdoor and open air, but have the track be really beautifully and purposefully designed like how the Incredible Hulk is. Make it feel almost like an art piece more than a ride. Maybe a section of it could be inside around a simulated storm.

In case anyone missed it, the One Little Spark Competition is starting up soon!

This is a fantastic game for newer members because it's shorter, non-eliminations, and set up to practice different parts of armchair imagineering. A really great game, especially if you are interested in playing in some of the larger scale competitions that usually happen in winter and/or spring.

The game mixes bigger challenges where you work with a team and smaller challenges where you work individually.
