American Idol Experience reduces the number of shows per day and gets new schedule

It definitely doesn't seem to draw in the crowds as much as TDDO was anticipating. It's an alright show (definitely better than Doug Live or an empty theater). Shame that complex (AME and Sounds Dangerous) are underutilized. They are in such prime real estate.

Just think of all the great things that Phineas and Ferb could do with that area. :lookaroun

Indeed. And WDW would actually be cashing in on a current and popular show.....

So, there goes that idea out the window.

And when that show is off the air in 2 years (being generous with that estimate), then what?

Doug was once current and popular too, but kids cartoon shows, for the most part, go out of fashion relatively quickly.

that's actually the fun of it...watching other people make fools out of themselves on vacation. It's the same appeal of karaoke on a cruise.

except after they sing on a cruise they get a shot... Either something for the 21+ who want it or something else for the 18+ who can't or don't want it...

Doug was more lasting on Nick I think than it was with Disney... but i could be wrong. It seems disney pre-programs many things to self destruct after a certain time.. Kim possible being an exception.. (and phineas and Ferb was a sleeper hit with more than just the demographic...)

Doug aired on each network (Nick and ABC) for about 3 years each, so it was pretty evenly divided. More people enjoyed the Nick version, that's for sure.

I personally used to watch the TV show, but it got so dull the past 2 seasons.

Anyways, hope this is the beginning of the end for AIE.

True, we saw this coming before the attraction even opened really. Disney got in on it too late and should have known the outcome was not going to have lasting power. I wish they would do something more concrete instead of shaky franchise fads.

On the bright side at least they toned back how much they were going to alter the theater. Imagine if they had stuck with the first public concept... Can you imagine the outcries? People complain about the hat not fitting in with Hollywood Blvd.

Yeah... that would have really sucked if they put that extra money into it and truly transform the area into a true experience instead of just giving the old building a paint job... that would have been horrible.

I honestly think that Who Wants to Be A Millionare: Play It had more of an appeal to guests than this...I still miss that show..I saw one of the Ultimate Kareoke Party..Er I mean The American Idol Experience and It didn't want me to come back to see it again..sorry.

Millionaire was quick, fun, and easy. AIE requires lots of time, is more stressful, and hard. People can laugh off answering a hard question wrong, not so much having themselves singing badly to a large audience inside and outside the theater.

I'm not saying pumping major $$$ into the building would have been bad. I enjoy the current experience so no complaints there.

If they had so greatly altered the building, changing it from Art Deco to Modern, there probably would have been an even larger carping from people, in addition to what is still complained about (bad show, time demanding, tacky, karaoke, etc).

Interesting way of putting that! I like it. :)
