American Idol Attraction a bit too Late

I actually had another thought about this - the cruelty potential.

I can imagine the loving, but deluded parents of an untalented child pushing them on stage to mangle "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", only to be greeted by howls of laughter.

I see years and years of trauma therapy ahead.

I know what you're saying, but don't you think having that kind of parents on a daily basis will have them in therapy anyway?

While to shows' ratings are declining from paragon status I can honestly admit that I've never liked the show. That being said, I would love to get up and do karaoke in front of an audience at Disney.

Personally I think they should make it 'Mickey's Karaoke Jam Party' and have a 'rock band' / karaoke experience with AA Mickey, Minnie and the gang. Heck I'd even be cool with Stitch in there singing along.

I'm not the biggest American Idol fan... but anything is better than an empty attraction building... and it's been empty for how long? 10ish years?

I agree, that is one major worry I have about this attraction. Someone could go down in flames and who knows how a roudy audience could act ( keep in mind, this is a tourist audience ) and that person's whole vacation could be ruined. And I'm also worried about the whole concept of having random guests be judges. They'll either be too nice or too mean and try to be like Simon or somthing.

Eh, I don't know. We'll just see how it turns out I guess. But i can still see some ugly events happening.

My opinion on this issue is that although 'Idol' rankings are sliping, their "dominance" over the competition is growing. That is, when you compare AI's ratings to that of other leading shows, AI's lead is growing larger. If Disney wanted to represent a television show to fill the ABC Theatre, 'Idol' was the best choice not only because it is BY FAR the highest rated show on TV, but a pop culture phenomenon whose name will draw crowds for years even if the show declines in popularity.

If the attraction is dealt with properly, the show will be a crowd buster for at least 5 years, which I think this is only what Disney is expecting and wants out of this project to get DHS attendence up short-term.

Here's a link that USA Today put out today about this season's decline of Idol.

I do like american idol but I can say this will probably be a show I pass on. I see why they went with it and even though it might be declining its still way ahead of anything else. Its just getting a bit boring to me. I agree with Mufasa's Pride that its probably a stop gap type thing, just a few years or more.
