I have to disagree with that statement. I thought that, for the most part, the song choices were very good. The one that I was most disappointed in was Jennifer's, simply because no thought went into it. When Seacrest announced 'Circle of Life', I stopped listening. I didn't care to hear that song, AGAIN.

The best choice (to me) was Jon Steven's. Crocodile Rock is a classic that isn't really thought about a great deal. I had completely forgotten the song existed until last night. His doing it brought back a lot of memories for me from elementry school. It's shame how he did it made me cringe.

Any news on next week yet?

how interesting legacy, that we went almost polar opposites on this! any other thoughts from anyone else?

and crocidile rock is a great song, and I thought I would cry by the end of the horrible version by jon steven. it definatly backfired on him.

Well, I thought Jennifer was AMAZING last night. I was just blown away.. but when they said "Circile of Life" I knew that she would have picked a Disney song lol. Oh yea, I voted for her 3 times hehe

However, I do not understand why John Stevens is still there. He SERIOUSLY needs to go.

Only one person impressed me last night....George Huff...
This guy took an Elton song that I had never heard, or forgotten about and made it his...He ROCKS!
And yes, I voted for him multiple times...
Camille just was way too weak, as well as John...I will be interested in how it turns out...But I think they have a pretty good feel on how this year is working out...people have their favorites, and thats eho they are voting for...I will vote for George...:p

You're showing your (young) age. Believe me, most of us know Elton John's songs. I mean the good stuff, before Lion King. Yes The Lion King's music was good but he had mega-hits way before that.

Gotta love George!

I do the same thing with her and with John stevens how he stayed last week and this week is beyond me :brick:
that' because the whole freakin' city of Buffalo is voting for him.

Hawaii must have forgotten to have called in this week.

And just who is voting for Fantasia? It seems as though no one here likes her and we've got a good cross section of America represented here. She is annoying vocally and personality-wise.

Aloha, Camille.

One down three, two to go.

Now all we need to do is poison Buffalo with some common sense to get Jon Stevens out of there. How anyone can still like that kid is beyond me.

I am more concerned about Jasmine being in the bottom three again. She is definantly one of the better ones, and I think she was the one Simon was referring to as 'shouldn't be up there'. I really don't want to see her voted off before the top four.

I spoke to a friend yesterday, who works at one of the apartment complexes we service. George Huff sang with the choir that my friend, Sean sings in (they do the Jazz and Heritage Fest every year). Sean says we have yet to see what George can do..........

This week was definitely challenging for the Idols because Elton is hard to sing IMO. I have never been inclined to karaoke one of his songs much less think of what it would be like to HAVE to pick one of his songs for a contest.

Jennifer and George finished tops this week. Carrot Top needs to go next week.

perhaps I am showing my young age (thank you ace, I like being called young. I feel very old sometimes. :)), but the population that both watches and votes in AI tends to be my bracket of 21-25 and younger. I grew up listening to elton john (mom is a fan) and I know his music well, but it doesn't mean it resonates well with the younger audiences now.

I am glad camille is gone, she has a different voice, but it cannot stand up to the like of jennifer, latoya and george. Next week is bound to be one of the jons.

I can't believe that Jasmine was in the bottom three! She has a gorgeous voice. I'm going to have to remember to keep voting for her. There were a couple that deserved to be in the bottom three more than her...*cough*theJohns*cough*.

tomorrow is 'songs from movies' night. I have no idea how they are going to limit the choices, since most popular songs tend to make it into movies....
I would imagine that they are given an extensive list to choose from.

I'm sure the soundtracks to Chicago, Grease and West Side Story will be on the list, as well as Disney songs like 'Can You Feel...' and 'Friend Like Me'.

I wonder if anybody would do 'My Song' from Moulin Rouge...

Side thought-

Who wants to bet me twenty posts that Jennifer or Diana decides to do 'My Heart Will Go On' from Titanic?

Throw Latoya into that bet too. That might not be a bad song for Diana to do after her last two. I would really like to see her do something that can really showcase her voice.

I am thinking Jennifer will do something from chicago, since she is from chicago, she has a very big stage voice, and the songs from chicago came from the stage.

and I swore that if I heard "my heart will go on" once more, I would cry and run screaming from the room. but Diana could easily do that one, she needs something to bounce her back from last week.

p.s. - a plug for Old Navy, they now have american idol shirts, mine was near the registers. 12 bucks, not too bad. and there are 3 or 4 different versions. I bought it for a laugh, but it is a great conversational piece when I am standing in a line at the grocery store. :)
