Amazingly dumb and sometimes funny things other guests say...

You know the little girl who thought they were going to space? Well, my daughter used to think that when we went on holiday, the holiday resort was up in the sky! I had to explain that we go up in the plane, but we do come down again!

How old was she then?

-Lady on Monorail: "How does this thing turn around?"
-Lady behind me in line waiting to get Christmas ornament customized: "I have been here for 30min, So much for the happiest place on earth."
-"Which park are you going to?" "Oh we are going to Disney World"

On the way home from our Spring Break adventures in Disney with my best friend, our plane flew threw an incredible lightning storm. Now, I'm strange and have a weird fascination with lightning, so I was quite excited, and bouncing out of my seat waiting for them to turn the seat belt light off so I could switch with her to sit by the window. However, she was absolutely terrified of the storm. In my horribly failed attempt to comfort her, I said, "Don't worry, planes get hit by lightning all the time," intending to reassure her that it wouldn't cause us any harm. Instead I got a bruise on my arm and, "You're not making things any better!" screamed in my ear.

On a completely unrelated subject though: This past October my best friend and I visited Cedar Point (in OHIO for those who don't know) and were waiting in line for one of the rides when the couple behind us started debating what body of water the peninsula is on. Now this would be understandable because, let's face it, the Great Lakes can be somewhat confusing to those who aren't familiar with them, but one of these people was insisting (I mean really insisting) that we were on the Atlantic Ocean. Even worse, they asked an employee, and she didn't know either. All my friend could do was stand there and try to hold our laughter in.

Well, of COURSE, Connor! And it's unheard of for an American to be fluent in THREE languages *gasps* I'm a freak!

thread deviation: do any other Americans here know (fluently) at least one other language that isn't common in high school (read: French, Spanish, and German don't count)? I always feel so alone...
Don't feel alone. I'm a freak too! I speak English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Greek, and Tagalog (language of the Philippines).

We were on Disney's Magical Express and we were staying at the Poly. We had to stop at the Grand Floridian first, and when we were pulling up to the hotel, a mother said to her child "Look, there's the castle!". The father had to tell her that it was just the Grand Floridian.

I think i have two very funny ones regarding character names. I believe you all know Prince John from Robin Hood, well one lady called him was the LION KING!!! Also, one guy referred to Brer Rabbit As SNUGGLE BUNNY!!??!! Who is Snuggle Bunny? Anyway, ifound these two incidents very strange, but amusing.

Technically I'm not an "American" in the sense you mean, I'm a "North American" though [All right, I'm Canadian]. I'm fluent in Russian, Serbo-Croatian [now actually Serbian AND Croatian], Italian and, although it doesn't "count", French [three different variations - Quebecois, Provencal and Parisien]. I also have varying functional levels of Spanish, German, Norwegian, Swedish, Greek, Japanese and Chinese. [I can swear rather well in a number of others, but we won't count them :animwink:].

Unfortunately, as a result, I don't really "speak" any of them well [I can make myself understood]. I tend to freely substitute words from different languages when the correct word eludes me at the moment. My comprehension and reading are all quite good though.

You're my new best friend :D
I speak English and Japanese, and know American Sign Language (it's a non-vocal language...so I don't really "speak" it)

日本語は興味深くなければならない

I took an ASL class back in High School, but I decided it wasn't for me and dropped out about a month into it.

Varying character names I've heard:

Donald: Daffy, Howard
Br'er Rabbit: Nestle Quick Bunny, Cadbury bunny, Little Bunny Foo Foo, Bugs Bunny, March Hare...the list goes on.
White Rabbit:...I don't remember, but it made me crack up
Meeko: Squirrely, Pepe Le Peu
Terk: King Louie, Rafiki
Goofy: Pluto
Pluto: Goofy

It's amazing how many names get mixed up!

My favorite:

It was when Test Track was in testing...before it opened for CM preview but way after one of the cars went through the wall. So anyway, the cars are all speeding through the track, one at a time. You know that attraction makes a lot of noise if you're in Epcot and nearby and 2 Little Old Ladies were mildly startled by the sound of the rushing car. One (LOL #1) turns to the other and says, "What was THAT?"

LOL #2 says, "Oh that? That's the new Tom Petty ride. You pay $150 and they bring you around the track, over and over, in circles!"

That seriously cracked me up.

Being familiar with Cedar Point (6 trips this season alone :p), I cracked up at that.

"Tell you what: How 'bout you go loosen your lap bar on Magnum, and go flying off the second hill and into the "ocean"!" :lookaroun

Makes me wonder if Figment was ever mistaken for Spyro even though his yellow sweater has his name right there...

The guests that always crack me up are not the casual Disney goer that mistakenly calls the TTA the Monorail but the ones that think they know everything about WDW and are completely clueless. You know the type he insists that the ferry boat from the TTC is on a track...

Apparently the Ferry Boat has jumped its track! Anyone know why a ferry would dock at the Grand Floridian? To pick up a load of conventioneers maybe?
