alligator at MK

DS 6 catches tons of lizards and frogs every trip. Last December, we had a run in with a possum at AKL. It ran out at my 3 year old, thank goodness I was wearing boots, because I kicked him (the possum not the 3 year old) and he ran off. On the same trip we also saw this guy at Magnolia.

Bunnies are still cute.

(Except for the killer rabbit in the Monty Python movie.)

:king:

"Bunnies are just cute like everyone supposes/They got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses/And what's with all those carrots/What do they need such good eye-sight for anyway/Bunnines, bunnies, it must be bunnies!"

My wife and I saw a cat while on the Jungle Cruise. It was during the capn's spiel "and on our left you'll see the dangerous...oh."

You know the Fastpass haters are going to be all over this one: "You see this? Now gators are making the standby lines ridiculously long AND using up valuable bathroom stalls!"

"... Or maybe midgets."

Seen it all at Disney. But on this thread, nobody mentioned Wild Turkeys. I see them all the time when I am at Disney, especially going to Magic Kingdom.

Also the cute little Disney bunnies all over the place. When I first saw one many years ago, I thought it was cute, but now I see them all the time, it has lost its "magic."

Your're right ... we also see turkeys and deer ever trip. Usually from the monorail going to/from Epcot. Also seen deer over at Fort Wilderness with some armadillos there as well.

I have been to WDW 8 times and have yet to see a gator (I'd love to see one and always look for them). Although, I am betting my GF wouldn't like it all that much. Somebody mentioned flipping over the Sea Racers.......this was back in the early 90's when they still had the old "Sprites", but I followed a launch (the GF, Poly one) and stupidly steered against the wake and a huge wave of water smashed into my sprite and quickly filled it up with water. I thought I was going to sink because it started to just nosedive into the water. Luckily it emptied out rather quickly (I was frantically splashing the water out of it) and ended up just getting drenched. Kind of funny and scary at the same time. In 2006 we stayed at the Poly and had a room right on the lagoon....kind of creepy at night because it's so black and you know that there are some gators swimming out there! Supposedly there are freshwater otters in the waterways...but haven't seen those either.

As for cats.......never seen them at WDW, but Disneyland is full of them. And Disney likes it that way since they get rid of rodents. We saw a mommy cat with her litter of kittens at California Adventure one time. And we had a cute little orange cat hop across the DL Railroad tracks and join us for lunch at the Hungry Bear in Critter Country once.

We saw an albino frog in Epcot by Morocco. It jumped onto the stand where the people stand to make ADRs for the restaurant in the back. The two girls at the stand called over one of the guys that was sweeping up to catch it and when he saw that it was quite big he ran away. :ROFLOL:

A five year old boy came and saved the day by catching it and putting it into the grass.

I don't really get the amused tone here. Kittens? Bunnies? That was an alligator and they are not exactly cute. Not really harmless either. I unterstand, that the WDW-Resort of course must house a lot of alligator. It#s Florida. But INSIDE THE PARKS? I am definitely not amused by the sight of an alligator 10 feet away from Splash Mountain's water flume. Am I the only one who finds this a tiny-little bit disturbing and..dangerous?

Gators back in '05

My last trip to WDW was back in August 2005 and I saw & photographed an aligator in the Magic Kingdom (on the wooden bridge at Liberty Square). It caused quite a stir, but little fear. Most people thought it was an audioanimatronic character placed there until they realized that the movements, when provoked, were a little too real.

Back in the 80's we were staying in FW and there was a little key deer running around. The cutest thing ever. Evidently they were at Discovery Island (or is it Treasure Island:veryconfu) and they would sometimes swim over to the campground.

Hehe well the kitten and bunny talk is because they are also part of the "wildlife" at the Magic Kingdom that many of us have seen, and the topic has sort of widened to include all the kinds of wild animals you can find in the MK.

Personally alligators don't really bother me - they are pretty big and I don't walk up to them and pet them or anything, so it's hard to be scared of them for me I guess. I can see why some people would get bothered by thinking about them in the MK, but just keep in mind a) there is absolutely nothing Disney can do about it but erect 15-foot walls around the whole park, and b) AFAIK we've never had anyone killed by a gator in the MK hehe.

Disney takes care of them as soon as they know about them, but I wouldn't worry about one taking a bite out of you while you are riding Splash Mountain. There are other types of critters that would be far more likely to do that in there than an alligator. ;)

When we stayed at Saratoga Springs last summer we spotted a family of otters swimming in the pond by the bus depot by the Main Pool. They did not seem concerned about gators in the area.
