So, the joint owners of The CW [Warner Bros/Discovery/HBOmax and Paramount (CBS/Viacom)] are selling The CW to a mostly TV Station company, Nexstar.

Remember that Warner Bros was in charge of all things DC on film and TV. Now, Discovery execs are calling the shot. They don't see the CW's DC TV-verse of shows as profitable. So, first they're canceling Legends, Batgirl, and Naomi. They're keeping Flash, Superman & Lois, and Star Girl. [Previously, Arrow, Black Lightning, and Supergirl have run their course.]

And so, in the midst of the streaming wars, in the midst of the mess that Warner Bros have made of the DCEU, they're selling content that's a big chunk of one their most prized IPs to a TV station conglomerate.

And what is Nexstar even going to do with that? They're in no position to be a player on linear or streaming TV.

I just can't.

Viacom18 (joint venture between Paramount and Reliance) win streaming rights to IPL from Hotstar.

BUT Disney-Star keep TV broadcasting rights.

Interesting trade off. I guess the low ARPU for Hotstar meant the high price for the IPL's digital package wasn't worth it. I concur on that one.

Why not Rice?... ;)

Comcast is weighing installing one central leader, company insiders say, a role that would look something like a chief content officer across all of NBCUniversal. Langley is an obvious choice, given her deep ties to the creative community and years atop the film studio. And others are angling for that elevated post. Rovner, a former president of television at Warner Bros., offers up both television and streaming experience, two areas of growth. Igbokwe oversees four different content production labels and has a track record of hits. Ironically, some of the buzziest titles she’s developed, like “Hacks,” have become the darlings of rival companies.

Of note:

Shell also touted NBCU’s theme parks business, which “came roaring back” this year. “That business is cranking.”
