All things Knotts Berry Farm

The company made it very clear that this decision was the only way to allow their business to be in a position to reopen.

Are you a business owner? Not every company has the resources like Disney to bankroll people for a month.

Entire businesses have had to close without notice. A lot of the companies we think are successful are in debt and surviving month to month.

I will have to try Gus' but was not s fan of Flos or
Plaza Inn. Art Smith was one of the best meals I've had in my life (sides and dessert included too).

Will have to try Olivia's and Gus' based on your recommendation.
Yes, I do run a business.

They should have enough to allow for at least two weeks of payroll and two weeks should have allowed for enough time to get unemployment going, especially if PTO, severance packages, etc. Were paid as the law dictates.

Additionally, the accounts I have read said they refused to pay out PTO, which is something they would be required to do by law.

They also didn't pay any severance packages.

And I have seen mixed reports as to if they even paid all employees their final paycheck or not.

But that is getting off topic, back to the topic (well sort of) at hand.....

As for Gus's, they are good, but word of caution it may be too spicy for some. Definitely get dessert there.

Olivia's blows Homecoming out of the water, but go at dinner time and substitute whatever potatoes with Olivia's Potatoes.

Thanks for the insight. Sounds like they really did things poorly then. I don't own a business so I'm not familiar with how these things work. Surprised they didnt have any funds for payroll though for sure.

Thanks for the inside info on Olivia's and Gus', I'll definitely have to give both a try!
Yeah, I understand not having money to pay for a long period of time, but there is a right way and a wrong way of handling things and sometimes it just comes down to how you present things.

Some companies didn't even tell employees they were closed until they showed up to find the doors locked and told they no longer had a job. I don't think homecoming was that bad with it, but can you imagine?

Definitely try the others, for Olivia's, the potatoes were so good, we litterally stopped in a couple of nights on the way back to our room to get some to go and have them for breakfast the next day. The chicken was so good, I literally went out of my way to go to the Turtle pool bar to get the chicken sandwich, which is made with the same chicken. Oh, I guess I should mention Olivia's is boneless, more of chicken fried chicken, but absolutely delicious.

And Gus's does offer chicken strips, do not get that, get the on the bone chicken instead, it is much better.

Arguing about the best fried chicken is like arguing about the best New York Cheesecake. They all basically taste the same.

Oh, for sure.

Disneyland and Magic Kingdom are the same thing too.

You might think it's all basically the same, but I (and clearly others) disagree. There are always going to be things where you care about the differences and act accordingly, and things where you don't care and/or can't tell the difference. For instance, I think all milk and all types of milk taste basically the same, which has gotten me some incredulous looks over the years. Yet to me there's a clear difference between the different versions of theme park fried chicken; but for you, fried chicken just might be your milk.

Knott's volcano. This is approximately where the firepit next to Ghostrider is now.

No, they don't, Junior's is by far the best there (well aside from my Dad's), but they definitely taste quite different.
What is Junior's? Where is it located? Do any of these places make gluten free fried chicken.

As soon as i saw the "Is it better than KFC" i figured i shouldn't click on it LOL .

anything is better than KFC in my opinion, not only is it the most greasy chicken ever i doubt they use chicken anymore If i didn't know any better i would think they use quail now instead of chicken. Those pieces just keep getting smaller and smaller and more expensive

I actually quite like KFC, although your point to their greasiness is well-taken. Try the extra crispy to get rid of it some.

As for the size of their chickens, that is also a good point. Although here I would like to point out that if you don't force-feed chickens growth hormones and steroids, the natural size of a chicken is going to be woefully smaller than what our modern society is used to. So...how much of a monstrous, bio-engineered up, 'roided chicken are you willing to accept?

true, although when i was younger we had free roaming chickens in our property as well as rabbits. They were all fed without hormones and let me tell you they can get pretty big without the hormones. of course most of the chickens used for food here are caged so they do not have the ability to eat naturally and grow to their full potential.

They are $101 for a Knotts only pass. A little more for Soak City addition. I think around $220 for all Cedar Fair parks. I didn't look up the exact numbers. If you renew there is a discount of about $94 I think.

Yeah thanks! I checked after I posted and it is crazy how low these things are lol. I remember five years ago they were around $70 (when I was thinking of buying one) but I just assumed they jumped tremendously by then. But nope! Disney APs they are not. It doesn't include parking, which I'm guessing at least one person adds in the family if they go at least once a month. Even another $75 is a steal. I don't know how much theme parking I'm going to be realistically doing in the next 6 months but I am considering getting it now.

But I think they know the reality, a lot less people will be coming for awhile so they have to do something to entice them back eventually.
