thanks for posting this, answers the questions that we have been asking. I did receive the email as well there is something else in that email that should be added here.

-For 2020 passholders participating in our Easy Pay program, we have automatically suspended monthly billing as of today, April 4, 2020, and will continue to do so while the park is closed. When the park reopens, billing will resume.
Passholders will need to be current on payments in order to receive both 2020 and 2021 season pass admission and associated benefits.

The last sentence in that part of the email should be quite important for those on a payment plan. It specifies that the passholder would nee to be "current on payments" in order to receive the benefits. the suspension of monthly payments is probably to help out those that might be out of work while place of business is closed but that statement sounds like those payments would have to be made once parks re-open and before the season ends.

I wonder how they would handle that? would they divide that additional amount and add it to the remaining payments?

I got the first version of the e-mail, and was one of the first. And I got the first version again at a different e-mail later in the day. And we are on the Easy Pay plan.....

The extra paragraph was added in a revised e-mail.

The decision was made and approved yesterday in Ohio, but came from the Knott's folks, who crunched the numbers to show corporate they could make it work.

The rest of the chain is still on the original plan of adding extra days at the end of the season.

And how the resumption of payments will work. People on varied amount of months, depending on when they purchased/renewed. So let's say they open in June, so 2 months of suspended payments. When the park re-opens, you start with the same amount due each month, but now finish paying 2 months after the original date.

Dear Knott's,

Just received your e-mail about honoring the 2020 Season Pass for all of 2021. For doing such a generous thing, you have guaranteed a pass purchase from me for 2022.

Keep up the good work,
XOXO
Yep and they also have guaranteed that people who don't have passes will also support Knott's, as they will see how they are stepping up and dong something that they really didn't have to do that will actually help a lot of people in the long run. Imagine if you bought a pass with dining and maybe even already paid it off before all of this, then got laid off, now they could potentially have around a year and half of knowing that if all else fails you can still eat, that is huge for many. Luckily I am not in this camp, but I can see it.

I had planned to buy a pass back in late December for just $90-something. What a mistake that was to not do!

Wow looks like Knott's is doing the lord's work. Aren't most of these passes just around $200? That's really cool.
They are $101 for a Knotts only pass. A little more for Soak City addition. I think around $220 for all Cedar Fair parks. I didn't look up the exact numbers. If you renew there is a discount of about $94 I think.

Lisa and I paid about $200 for the Platinum (all Cedar Fair parks) Pass (includes parking), $30 for the drink plan, $120 for the Meal Plan, $50 for the photo plan (only one, we share). That is $375 for each, on average. Lockers and Fast Lane are also available. The Haunt Pass, $100, is not valid for 2021.

The Regular (Purple) was $90 to renew, The Gold was $105 (Includes Soak City), Parking was $75.

Knott's has decided to offer the deal to New passholders, so you can go buy them now, and they will be valid until December 31st, 2021.

Wow, that is awesome, I would have thought it would only apply to those that already purchased.

I bought a good pass with dining, now due to vacation changes we are considering doing a cross country road trip later this year, so my question is if we are on the monthly payment plan, is it possible to upgrade to the Platinum pass and I am assuming we would also have to upgrade our dining?

Yes to upgrading, and yes to the extra few dollars for the dining plan.

But, you have to pay the difference in full. That is the current price of the Platinum minus what you paid for your first pass, plus add the few extra dollars for the MP. And 1 one lump sum, cannot be added to the payment plan.

Oh, boy. May have to finally hit up Knott's this fall. How's their fried chicken compare to Plaza Inn?

Knott's serves the most overrated fried chicken on earth. Plaza's chicken is far superior.

However, Knott's dinners are a much better value and the experience of actually eating in the restaurant is very cool. And you certainly can't get a slice of Boysenberry Pie a la mode at the Plaza Inn!

And the park is great too, of course.

The chicken is still decent though, but I got chicken pot pie last time. But normally we just eat in the park since we have the dining plan.

Reading the tickets it says Platinum is valid for admission to Knott's through 2021, but is very vague about if it would also be valid at all of the other parks through the end of 2021, so the question is would it be valid at all parks or just Knott's until then? In our case it probably wouldn't matter, but I would like to know before deciding.

A Platinum Pass is just that. All Cedar Fair Parks can be visted with it.

The key is only Knott's Platinum passes get the extra year, Platinum's issued at other Cedar Fair Parks will only last until December 31st, 2020.

Ok, wow that makes the Knott's platinum pass an incredible value.l, not that it wasn't already.

I wonder what SeaWorld is going to do in response now, we have their platinum pass on EzPay and are on month to month there, I need to call and find out what they are doing, as they still keep charging us.

We are in the same boat re SeaWorld. But we have had them for about 20 years, and there is the keep the original price clause, so we are not complaining. Whatever they decide. If it takes them until the time they know when they can reopen, so be it.

Universal has been quiet also.

I wrote SeaWorld and asked and they said that those that are month to month need to call....I just haven't yet, our next payment isn't until the beginning of next month, so I figure I have some time to call.

Both Plaza Inn and Knotts chicken are nothing great. I find it funny how people claim that the dry chicken served at both restaraunts is the "best in the world".

I've been to both within the last few years. I'm sure back in the day Knotts used to be much better than it is now, maybe I missed its prime.

I do love the pie at Knotts though.

The best fried chicken I've ever had was at Chef Art Smith's Homecoming in Disney Springs. Everyone owes it to themselves to try it if they are visiting Disney World. Whole meal was amazing.

I think we can agree that neither is best in the world.

I was let down by Homecomin' also, however. Maybe I was just unlucky, but nothing I had there impressed me.

But I've been to a fair amount of the Midwest and South, where good fried chicken isn't hard to find. Almost all better than Knott's IMO. But it's definitely one of those "when in Rome" scenarios. I still love going to the restaurant when I'm in town, I just order other things.

his fried chicken is good, but Given how poorly he treated his employees during all of this, I have a very hard time with the idea of supporting him after this. Iean literally firing everyone or laying them off with no notice is just wrong. At least give enough notice that they could apply for unemployment and not have a lapse in paychecks.

But then again, the fried chicken at Olivia's blew his out of the water anyway.

My list in order (best to worst and worst still being pretty good) for fried chicken (leaving out distance, price and other factors like the employee issues) would be:
  • Olivia's Fried Chicken
  • Gus's Fried Chicken (I know they are a chain, but not sure how wide spread they are)
  • Plaza Inn
  • Flo's V8
  • Homecoming
  • Chicken Guy
  • Knotts (Good, but there are now better food options, especially inside the theme park)
