No I mean in the 80s' were the screens in the descent meant to represent triangles
No - there were abstract shapes in the main. Some had 3 sides, more had 4 sides.

If only they would use the name...0_o

Not the horrible, horrible concept.:brick:

While a roller coaster would be soul-crushing, I was intrigued by the time elapse element.

Personally, I think the Spaceship Earth sounds more majestic by itself. If they ever drastically changed the ride a subtitle would be appropriate.

I never understood that effect. What was it supposed to do?:veryconfu I just thought it was a glorified screen. (This was from my lurker days...one big blur:lol:):veryconfu

Yeah, if they were going to add a subtitle, I thought the most appropriete time is now, as this version is so different from the last one.

Good morning! :lookaroun

Think of the triangles as a "new look" at the 80s ending asbtract shapes.

don't be suprised if some of the triangles change colors or show data or zeros and ones :lookaroun

Dear Epcot Explorer,

Here at the Walt Disney Company, we value all our customers concerns. As Proud VP of the Epcot Appreciation Club, however, we feel that extra steps must be taken to respond to your inquiry. Feeding Future World fanboy fetishes is a top priority.

As such, I am pleased to let you know that Walt Disney's Epcot will complete the final version of the Spaceship Earth descent in early to mid 2009. I cannot divulge the details, but hopefully it will finally be decent in the eyes of you and your constituents.

Thanks again for your concern and input.

Blessings,

The way SSE is today is the way its going to be for at least the next decade so get comfortable with it.

I have a direct quote from Corrus to me making the exact same statement about the Wand a few months before it came down. People promised the Wand wasn't going anywhere anytime soon and then all of sudden.....cranes came in.

No matter how in the know you might be, there is always a chance for a different outcome.

In all fairness, the wand happened rather quickly. I was told just 2 weeks before it was announced.

I agree with that. I'm glad I have a .mp3 recording of the last ride spiel with Jeremy Irons. There's just something about his voice and the score that really brings back classic Epcot.

DARN RIGHT! :sohappy:

My Epcot memories echo with sounds of Jeremy Irons, Dreamfinder, El Rio Del Tiempo, Cranium Command, World of Motion, and Kitchen Kabaret.

You're right Martin, it defanitely did come out of nowhere fast. But my point is that one should really never use extreme words like "never" or "promise", because strange things can happen....even if they seem very unlikely.

does anyone know the origin of the triangles?

It seems to me that they must be left over from some project. I can't see them having a bunch of blue triangles manufactured for decor, when they make absolutely no sense (or do they?). I don't really understand why everyone is in a constant uproar over triangles, but i'm interested in why they exist in the first place.

Why would WDI choose triangles?

(p.s., "does it have to be a light bulb?"
