Hello, It took some time to counter check the infos but the article that will tell you all about the awaited Soarin' over the world movie for DCA and WDW (and hopefully the WDS in Paris some day) is now on line.

Important note: In the article the name of the COUNTRIES are the one that WDI imaginers are planning to film for the movie. The LOCATIONS in each country are pure speculation from me, BUT chances are big that you'll see some of the scenes in the final result. Example: Egypt is part of the list of the countries they would like to include in the movie. Don't need to be very smart to guess that more-than-probably we will "soar" over the Giza pyramids, right? Also, all pictures in the article are NOT Disney pictures of course, but a photo-montage that i did myself to illustrate what i say in the article.

One last thing: the infos are very reliable - "from the horse's mouth", kind of - and i think the release date should be right, too.

Okay, here is the article: http://disneyandmore.blogspot.com/2009/06/why-you-shouldnt-expect-to-soar-over.html

I would really love to see this, although I think WDW & DCA both have a lot to fix before they start messing with tried and true attractions. In any case, I'll believe it when I see it or when there is confirmation from a more reliable source (no offense, but some blog written in broken english isn't exactly a reliable source in my book).

I would love to see this happen at Epcot. It would fit with the overall theme of Epcot so much more. I wonder how many people are confused as to why we only fly over California?

I can understand that shooting this film would be a pretty big project, though.

I know that they had approved money for a new movie 4 years ago, alas nothing ever came from it.

What are you talking about? Since when the quality of the infos depends of the quality of the written english?
I don't take your comment badly, that's not the problem, but i am french, and i do sincerely my best when i write a text.
However, if you know Disney and more - or my DLP book "From Sketch to reality", you probably know that i don't write very often articles about the future, and certainly not without confirmed infos.
Now, we're living in a world where projects can be put on a shelf or have changes, but that's another problem. At the date of today, this is what the imagineers are planning to do with Soarin' over the world.

Can they please fix somethings that are actually a problem at epcot before they do this?

Soarin has problems. Major (OK semi-major) problems. The film and clear transparancy in front of it is full of defects. You can see them a black spots on the attraction. It's been that way for ages.

This also ties into my post about how EPCOT should be. Here we have an attraction that can be updated with minimal downtime. If they really wanted to, they could update it ona moer frequent basis by splicing in and out sections of the film, instead of the whole thing at once. Heck make it a ToT type experence and give you random sequences of places in the world. Call it "Soarin': Where Will You Explore" could have tied it in with the "What will you celebrate" promo.

What about Soarin' over old Scottish castles (Eilean Donan, Dunollie and Stalker), swooping down on the banks of Loch Ness or Loch Lomond and then taking in the myriad of Scottish Islands.

Considering the part that Scottish migrants played in the founding and continuing success of the USA, it would be a welcome nod to the old country.

I wouldnt call those major problems when you compare it to the current state of WOL, UOE, and JII. I would much rather have Disney fix those problems first.

That would be cool! Of course a new film would be a welcome change around here! A global concept makes a heck of a lot more sense then California! I know it was a copy brought over for the celebration at the time but it should have been changed sooner to fit into Epcot (& The Land) a little better, IMO!

Agreed. JII and HISTA need major rehauls before they go spending money on all of this Soarin' filming. Where I do agree that we'll probably see a new Soarin' movie at one of the parks by 2011-12, I don't agree with it being a major priority right now. People love Soarin' now as it is. Last year I had to wake up early and take everyone's passes with me to Epcot just to get FP's so we didn't have to stand in line for 2 hours. They need to update some older, not-visited-as-much attractions to take the line times down first.

New Soarin' movie = Awesome!
New fixes of other attractions first = Awesomer!

I look forward to the new Soarin' movie.
The old one was is fun but it always seems strange to be in WDW in Florida but go flying over California, particularly the ending at Disneyland.

The nice thing about the Soarin' attraction is that it probably doesn't cost much, relatively speaking, to change the movie.
It's not like ripping out Space Mountain tracks, etc.

Alright, hopefully things are moving forward on Soarin' Over the World. :)

Personally, and this may be just me, but I'd like to see it as more of the Earth's NATURAL wonders as opposed to the cities and great monuments of the world. The Grand Canyon for example is great. Machu Picchu and the Pyramids also work; a nice blend of both natural and man made wonders. With that said, I would like to see more things like the fjords and glaciers of Scandinavia, the conifer forests of the north, the Himalayas, perhaps Victoria Falls from Africa? Point is, make it about Soarin' over the earth's natural wonders, not merely it monuments and cities. I'm sure Imagineers are aware of this, and as was stated in the blog, one of their tasks is to keep the film from becoming a travelogue of tourist attractions. But keep the film more about the earth itself; its amazing just how amazing this planet can be. :)

Also there the ride doesnt have to be down for any rehab time to switch a film!

That would work perfect for TL and EPCOT.:D

Well, wouldn't the motions of the seats have to be changed, not to mention the scents? But you're right, as far as refurbs go, the downtime for this sort of attraction, once the filmis ready and on site, is maybe a week or so. :)
