Alcohol in the Magic Kingdom

Shockingly, when I went to Disney world without children..I realized that there would in fact- be children..at WDW. Crazy, huh. I didn't expect a family destination to offer adult only bars restaurants and lounges at every resort and park. I just chose the ones where I thought there would be less children.

There are a lot of adult only resorts and cruises.. they're great. Then there's others where kids are not marketed to, but are technically allowed. No one with kids tries to add a kid's club in one. I don't email Azamara and ask them to start adding children's activities on their ships.

Honestly, it isn't normally the kids, it's the parents who think their children don't need to be supervised as they run around a lounge screaming.

I seriously must miss so much on my trips.lol. No joke. I'm not doubting that you witnessed that horrible scenario.. I'm sure it can happen, but has it been a common occurrence? If so, what lounge/s?

I don't even understand your point. So you want lounges that only guests of 3 resorts can go to?
If not, then what's the difference if they are spread out?..making them more convenient to more people than just those on the Boardwalk and monorail, who each have an adult only place already...as well as plenty of places to order an adult beverage with or without reservations.
Like I said, I don't understand your question or the "MORE" sense comment whatsoever.
My point is there's nothing wrong with having an adult only lounge/bar on the monorail line.

And back in the "good ol' days," Pleasure Island was 18+ after 7 pm I believe...
it was, the problem was that families would come in at 6pm and then camp out for the whole night... Enjoy your $20 cocktaIl in a beautiful immersive environment...now littered with strollers and screaming children.. I am not against children, but Pleasure Island was always intended as an Adult area... not sure why they ever relaxed the rule to allow families in earlier... It kind of ruined it.

Controversial opinion here....

Don't take your kid to a bar. Crazy, I know.
Why? Is there something wrong with drinking alcohol in front of a child? These aren't bar stool pubs. There is food, music, and a nice atmosphere.

You mean like the one that's already there?
Again, the comment about not drinking and driving doesn't make sense. It would make sense to spread places sparingly around property if there is a high demand for it.

I'm thinking you guys are just commenting to argue..or attempt to anyway..the same way you appear on every thread to do the same. Go ahead and continue with the nonsense. :)

I've never been there. I would be furious though. Either a server/bartender should do something, or if nothing else I may just give the parents the evil eye hoping they will leave.
That would be annoying for sure.
It really does happen a lot...and giving the parents the evil eye doesn't work...trust me. That was what used to happen at P.I too. Children running rampant at 10pm in the Adventurers club...all cranky and tired and screaming and the parents ignoring them.
Top Of The World lounge too... I have experienced it many times...that is why I think there should be more adults only refuges.. and again...adding a few things, not taking anything away from others.

This is a pet peeve of mine - when did it become socially acceptable to let your kids run around like hellions (or create any other sort of excessive noisy disturbance)? It's also why I have no problem with having certain areas of WDW adults only (or limits for older kids), whether it's a restaurant/ lounge with alcohol or not.

And I am not commenting to just argue...Just relaying my experiences..:) You sound like the kind of parent I wish there were more of...but unfortunately I think you are in the monority at WDW.

No, I know you're not. You're having a discussion, not throwing out ridiculous statements, there's a difference.

I think it's funny that this thread turned from "people who consume alcohol are heathens" to "children are heathens" and now to "OMG how could someone take a child in a lounge at WDW?"
I think it boils down to this-- you have some odd and bad mannered people out there. Alcohol or not some people just have no respect for others. Then you have other people who are judgmental and can't see outside of their own little box..

I have experienced plenty of obnoxious kids and rude adults at WDW, unfortunately I think it's going to appear on everyone's trip..just hopefully not during a meal at a place with or without alcohol. I've been lucky that I haven't seen it at a lounge, I'm sorry that you have...I wouldn't be a happy camper at that point either.

We were very fortunate our last trip there, we found the new lounge at Mcguffins in the Animal Kingdom... it was late afternoon, the lounge was empty... we had a lovely relaxing time there, and left in time to see The Awakening. Surprisingly there were absolutely no children or obnoxious adults. I guess since Pandora has not opened yet, it is a bit of a dead end and quiet...for now anyway.

"children are heathens"

No, I said 'hellions'. By definition, a 'rowdy, mischievous, or troublemaking person, especially a child'. And I'm critical of that because I'm usually the (sole) parent monitoring the kids to make sure that no one gets hurt, or entertaining them so they don't get out of control. I have no qualms about telling kids to knock it off when they get out of control. It's obviously not a problem limited to WDW, but I see no reason why there shouldn't be a few places at WDW where adults can relax knowing (small) children won't be there. They do have 'baby centers' (ie a quiet place away from the theme park stimulation); turnabout is fair play IMO.

ETA: If there are places designated for children, why shouldn't there be some for adults?

I don't know how, but until recently I didn't even realize Epcot NYE was a thing. I definitely want to go sometime, though I guess I should watch my step.
It was the craziest crowd I've ever seen. Shoulder-to-shoulder, a three-hour wait for Test Track, and everyone rowdy and in a party mood. I didn't see anyone throwing up, but my family and I certainly got shoved around a lot by the crowd. However -- if you like Illuminations, it was by far the most epic version. The fireworks show was so terrific that it was almost worth dealing with the bonkers crowds!
