Alas, Merfmobile.. we knew thee well..

The Merfmobile is out of commission.

An idiot driving too fast in the rain and the poor Merfmobile sitting helplessly at a traffic light... irreversible events.

Merfmobile was our friend. It was a happy car, it was shiny and yellow.. it brought Merf to Epcot and back, and even drove back to the house from halfway there when Merf forgot his camera.

Oh, dear Merfmobile you will be missed. All the kings horses, and all the kings men - and the Saturn dealership might be able to put you back together again.. sadly you probably wont be making it to Epcot's 25th anniversary.

We will think of you and buy you souvenir antennae toppers, just like the Spaceship Earth you sported that fateful afternoon. Should they say you're unfixable, we'll bury you with your glove box full of toppers.

It's not dead yet! Don't give up on our dear friend yet! Saturn's are made from rubbermaid plastic so anything is possible. My thoughts and prayers are with the mighty merfmobile.

IMPORTANT! Make sure you tell them that you want OEM parts, not aftermarket. Many insurers will specify aftermarket parts, which are less expensive for them but not as high quality as General Motors', when they write up your settlement. It may not be noticable now, but these parts may age differently than the rest of the car and the difference will not be noticable for a few years. (Usually the problem is rust, but since the Saturn is plastic this shouldn't be an issue.)

Here in Connecticut it is a state law that they must supply OEM parts if you specify them, I don't know if Florida is similar.
