Ummm yea. The current set up of Tland without it is terrible bad show, and not to mention they BUILT a brand new stage when they could have just updated/upgraded the Galaxy. Which had seating. And shade.

I agree, they use to have some great shows on that stage. Why they didn't just upgrade it is beyond me. Unless they are planning on using that space for some sort of attraction.

These threads truly are blowing my mind. Misinformation mixed with posts from the 'new sheriff's' spokesman/lapdog.

Why there's 17 pages of discussion on this ... or ranting ... is beyond my limited intelligence.

I feel like Barney Frank talking to that ignorant woman at the town hall meeting.

There have been NO SERIOUS PLANS FOR A THIRD PARK IN ANAHEIM INSTEAD OF DCA WORK!!!! NONE!!!!!

Disney, around 2000-2001, when it was cocky that DCA was gonna be a blockbuster did look ahead at possibly building a third park down the road. They even had a web site ... an official one called thirdthemepark.com that had no real detail at all (it suggested a park that might have anything from Buzz Lightyear and Pooh rides that went to DL to a water park).

When DCA bombed out of the gate, Disney shut the site down.

There has been absolutely no talk since. None of substance, except in the longest of long range plans when AND IF DCA can stand on its own then MAYBE a third park will start to be planned. It likely will happen before we return to the moon, but that's just a personal indictment of our current vision for a space program (we have none) vs. any strong feeling a third park is coming.

Until then, the old strawberry field is going to be used for parking, which is needed.

Why again does this thread exist? Because Al said something that anyone with any knowledge of how Disney operates could have predicted?

Probably shouldn't have added to the thread, but geez louise at some point where does it stop?

Paris can't come soon enough!!!

Anyway, interesting on the third park...I didn't know that.

I wonder if WESTcot was ever bumped from #2 to #3....:lookaroun

The DL fans had high hopes for a third gate sooner rather than later. But instead they are getting a parking lot for the forseeable future.

I'm not sure where you got that info, but it likely wasn't from a Southern Californian. The very modest fan interest in 2000 for a third theme park for Anaheim faded around February 15th, 2001, a week after DCA opened.

No one has had much interest in a third park for Anaheim in years and years.

And even when WDI had their website, thirdthemepark.com up and running, the artwork and info was so vague and lifeless that it never inspired much excitement in anyone. Did you see that website when it was running in 2000 and early 2001? It had clip art of The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh, Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin, and some vague Little Mermaid stuff. Most of which ended up in Disneyland or DCA within the next five years anyway without a third park.

Now Westcot in the mid 1990's, that was a concept that really had the fans talking in SoCal, and still does to this day. But the "third park" as mentioned in 2000 and '01 under the Pressler/Harriss regime? Never much excitement there, and any speculation on it died out years and years ago among the Disneyland fans.

I wouldn't expect to see anything but parking for a growing Resort area on the third park land until 2020 or so, at the earliest. Maybe 2025?

So, you're saying that the new sheriff diverted the money from CA's third park to WDW, right?

You know the only other third park i could ever imagine being built out there that would make sense would be a water park but it would be years before even that would happen.

That is true as of last week. Any plans on the table have been shelved for years. But I am sure something will be built there someday.

No, never. The climate here in SoCal only allows water parks to operate a good five months out of the year; May through September, maybe into October if the Santa Ana winds kick up.

A Disney water park, unless it was under a dome and thoroughly heated, would sit empty and cold for six or seven months out of the year, just like all other SoCal water parks currently do from Ventura to San Diego.

There just is not enough land in Anaheim to waste it on a water park that wouldn't even be open for half the year. The Strawberry Fields (third theme park) land will continue to be used as a parking lot (it was used by the Anaheim Convention Center for the last several years as overlfow lots) for at least another decade, if not two decades. The current deal just expands the current parking and transfers it from Convention Center management to Disneyland Resort management.

And when that land does get put to another use, a water park won't be it.

Climate doesn't effect indoor water parks.

And yet Disney isn't going to build an indoor water park in SoCal. That's just dumb, and a huge waste of resources. Unless they had a retracting roof on a giant dome over the park for the glorious SoCal summers May through September. But again, only a fool would spend that kind of money on precious land.

The land has been used for parking since 2004, and it will continue to be used for parking for at least another decade. And when Disney does commit to developing the land, they aren't going to squander it on a cheesy water park, the fifth one within driving distance of Disneyland.

You seem to have forgotten about global warming.
