On Tuesday, February 23, as a tribute to the magic, music and messages of “Captain EO,” the 3-D musical adventure is returning to the Tomorrowland theater in which it debuted. While it’s not possible to replicate some special effects elements from the original presentation, it will boast a new 70mm print of the film, and it will sound better than ever thanks to acoustic enhancements made to the theater since the film last played there in 1997.

Maybe the starfield? Never saw EO but its one of the effects everyone seems to talk about.

Hey, I'm impressed with the fact that they are doing this for that very reason. I'm sure some group already has boycots ready to go - and I think good for Disney for going ahead and doing it anyway. This is going to be a very popular attraction, for locals and visitors, and when the rumors started last year I thought, "I'll believe it when I see it". I'm just very glad I'm going to be seeing it. :)

^ :) Agreed. I'm very happy that Disney is willing to pay tribute to something despite potential controversy.

I wonder how long before we end up receiving it in Epcot.

I don't know, the fact they're announcing on Disneylands Twitter concerns me a little. It could be that they're just releasing it on DVD or something. On the other hand, it would be kind of telling to say that it will be announced on Walt Disney Worlds Twitter, wouldn't it?

MouseInfo.com is reporting that Disney may be testing the rumored Showpass for Captain EO. Showpass is a concept that is supposedly being planned for World of Color, perhaps they want to see how effective it is by using it for EO first? Also, it looks like the upcoming Twitter announcement will be related to this..

It appears that the Disneyland website will launch a Priority Seating opportunity for viewing of Captain Eo. Currently, if you visit Disneyland.com/CaptainEo it redirects to a URL with the phrase "Priority Seating Opportunity Entry Page" which seems to allude to a drawing of sorts for priority seating for the show.

This may be the first running test of Disney's Showpass which is rumored to make its official in-park debut with Disney's World of Color this spring. A Showpass is expected to be similar to a Fastpass, allowing the holder priority entrance for viewing of a show with little to no wait.

More details will be released on Monday via the official Disneyland Twitter.
