Hi all!

So of course i've been stalking the air fare since we booked our trip. And I was trying to avoid putting the air fare on a cc. So I was going to book it tomorrow. But it went up! Like by $100! UGH! Why did I wait? :brick: I had a fare for under $200 round trip per person which isn't amazing but its pretty good. Now i'm trying to decide, do I wait for it to go down or just book it anyway?

Hi Disney Girl,

I personally think air will just continue to rise. There seems to be no relief to the rising cost of airfare.

I would book it.

Good Luck,
Susan

Book it ASAP! Airfare for under $200 per person roundtrip is in fact amazing these days. I paid $225 non-stop, roundtrip w/ taxes and fees and I was ecstatic because all the other airfare I saw were so much higher! The next day, it went right up so I was glad I booked it when I did.

I booked airfare for September on United for just under 200 RT (all fees and taxes included) about an hour ago. Yesterday the same fare was 268, so it fluctuates daily. Keep checking and good luck.

You aren't alone. My trip has been booked and paid for, and I was waiting and waiting to see if Spirit Air would add an afternoon flight for our flight home. Me, thinking I was saving $50 per person to change the flight home. Since then, the airfare went up $75 PER person. WHEN will I ever learn!!!!

If you can wait until Tuesday afternoon I would! Airfare is always cheaper Tuesday afternoons. We are going through the same thing right now and just watching the websites and sure enough it is usually cheaper Tuesdays. It hasn't been as low as we wanted to book yet but it has gone down.

When I decided to book, the fares went up and down about 4 times in the course of 3 days. This was Frontier airlines, so just keep checking.

Also be sure to clear your cookies/ cache when you are going to go back on and do a search for flights. If you go in and search, then leave the page, sometimes companies will see that you are shopping around and not offer the cheapest options. I Read that in a business magazine.

Plane tickets are a joke, they fluctuate so much.

Book them now and don't look at them again, there is nothing worse than going back after you have booked and seeing a lower price :(

We are having much fun with this at the moment with the olympics, everybody is putting prices up.

Although I do enjoy the last minute prices for plane upgrades :)

Book it

Hey!

I say BOOK it as fast as you can. Try to see if you can do it with Orbitz or one of the sites that will give you the difference if it lowers before you fly.

I'm going down in June & booked my flight before I even had a hotel room! :lookaroun & boy am I glad I did. I managed to get our R/T with Jetblue for 227 each which is great considering we each get ONE free bag checked & the flight has only GONE UP in price. Book it as soon as you can.

Good Luck & enjoy your trip!

I wish I had the $200 fare or I would book it now. But I lost it...waited too long. Now it is up $63 per person. So I am trying to decide if I wait or just book it. UGH! Why didn't I book it when I saw the $200

I will try the Tuesday tip. I'm checking like every hour - i'm a nut! :hammer:

Air fare is amazing...My husband and I were just talking about this the other day how a couple years ago we paid like 400 round trip for both of us and complained so much about it. And now we would welcome that, having a son now increases the price but still we find it ridiculous how much. So much so that we are taking a go at driving down there and seeing how we do....

I would book if you can, because if you wait to long its only going to get worse...

I used to work in the airline industry for 2+ years and the closer to the date of travel, the more it will rise. Tickets are sold in tiers. Example: $100 tier, $200 tier, $250 tier, etc... So you may see a $200 ticket one day, then it sells out so the next day it's up to $300 and then will fluctuate in price around $300 until that's sold out. Once that tier is gone, you have to book the next tier. Sometimes you may get lucky and someone who has a "hold" on a lower price tier will release it or someone may cancel and you may be able to snatch it up.

Just some fun airline facts for you on this Friday! lol We booked our airfare in April for our September trip for $242 a person. From Portland, Maine, that's pretty decent.

I miss those days too. DW and I used to get $120 roundtrip/person on Southwest to fly to Orlando. Today? It's $300/person. It's just crazy.

You should have jumped on it when it was under $200. I would have. Now I can't get flights under $225 on a good day leaving from EWR most of the time. Personally I would book it now and not look at the prices again.

My experience is only with Northwest and Delta the past 10 yrs. I usually start peeking in May for a Jan/Feb trip and usually end up buying by September....the price goes up and down and further up for awhile....but I wait til I know its a good price, checking sometimes 4-5 times a day...and for some reason I suspect tracking when I comeback the next day...the rate of my dreams is there!!!:king: $229 was a good price last year nonstop roundtrip and I used partial pay with points to get 150$ off each ticket with the Delta Gold Amex....so came out to $79 per peep. They gave us 40000 points to join the card and free baggage for 4 each way....so the points gave us $400 off and we used points we had to get another 50$ per peep....in fact I was short 1800 points and I called the credit card lady who GAVE me those posting same day. WOO HOO!!! Now planning to cancel credit card and wait a few weeks to reapply under my name, not DH's and get more points. It's such a game but if you are persistant at checking you might get surprised.....I see no rhyme or reason....;). I just checked yesterday and my first look was $302....ouch....bet I will be looking for months before I buy....you can change hotel dates easy peasy but those airfare tickets are set in stone or you loose $$$$$$....
