F-16s will be doing semi-routine fly-overs tomorrow (08/04) over WDW between 10AM and noon. They will also be doing the same fly-overs on the day of the shuttle launch. Normally these fighter craft do not fly so close to WDW, but the security zone is being extended.

what are we flying for this time?

most likely practice for the shuttle launch, since they want the air space cleared for a large area when the shuttle launches just in case something may happen.

Perhaps the degree of this launch requires the larger window since I do not remember needing a larger window last time.

Shuttle launch. They're always up for them. Odds are they're going to be so high, it will go unnoticed by the general public. This is very common for Shuttle launches.

I believe there's an expanded launch TFR (temporary flight restriction) because this is the launch that will send up Barbara Morgan, the backup for Christa McAuliffe in the Teacher-in-Space program. Yeah its 21 years later, but Morgan officially joined NASA in 1998 as a mission specialist. (Thats 22 years since Reagan announced in 1985 that there's going to be a "Teacher-in-Space" program) In addition to continued ISS construction, there will be several educational activities planned. Also, this is Endeavour's first flight in over 4 years. Should be going off pad 39-A (the southern one). Good views are all along US-1 in Titusville as well as Jetty Park in Port Canaveral.

(I'm not photographing this launch, i'm no longer living in Florida.)

The only times ive realy seen military planes over WDW are when theyre going to the Navy bombing range thats in Lake and Marion Counties, way north of WDW. Saw a Harrier jump jet streak overhead at about 300 feet one day (Thats an AV-8B for those who like said designations) while walking through the Magic Kingdom, headed north.

Ditto, I was in Town Square and heard them go over twice and I was so confused why planes were flying so low! But it was awesome seeing them!

I live about 15 miles outside of WDW and I've seen a shuttle taking off from outside of my apartment.. if You remember to look up, you might be able to see it :)

August 8, 6:36 p.m. est I think?? Could be wrong on the exact time though.

Yeah thats the right time. However they are still trying to deal with a leak from the main cabin. 4 years in rehab and they still cant get it fixed. Makes you wonder if the same people who referb Nasa Shuttles are the same people who referb disney rides.....

FOr MK Viewing - Look towards Tomorrowland.

For Epcot Viewing - Towards Mission:Space or Mexico/China

Yeah I saw 2 F-16s doing a fly by on Saturday when I was coming out of The Land at Epcot. I had warning the day before by Disney though. The day before they send a voice mail to my room saying that the Air Force will be doing maneuvers between 10am and 12pm on Saturday and to not be alarmed. Needless to say when I saw them and heard the huge noise I knew what it was about, other people close by briefly looked up but didn't seem as awestruck as I did.
