I saw the shuttle launch when I was a CP from Animal Kingdom one night during an event, Watched it from the DI to Africa Bridge, Most amazing site ever even from such a distance, You would not believe how much the sky lights up it looked like the sun was coming up.

I'll be in epcot on August 8th, getting ready for our reservation at the rose and crown at 6:30. What are the odds that if I tell the host or hostess that I want to wait 6 more minutes to watch it that A-They'll let me, and B- That I'll see it from on that side of the park?

I'll be sure to look in the general direction of Mission Space (it would be cool to be in front of it, to get a picture of the launch over Mission Space). Does anyone have any pictures of launches as seen from inside the Disney parks? Can you actually see the spaceship or just the light trail? I'd love to see any pics that anyone may have!

Keep in mind that when you're walking from Future World to World Showcase, you're walking south. In other words, you'd have probably one of the best views in the park, considering you'd look east, across the lagoon, towards the Space Center.

...Now, Mexico... that could be a little difficult with the pyramid in the way.

I'm hoping to see it from the Pier in St. Petersburg. (Flight leaves tomorrow.)

Shuttle launch. They're always up for them. Odds are they're going to be so high, it will go unnoticed by the general public. This is very common for Shuttle launches.

I believe there's an expanded launch TFR (temporary flight restriction) because this is the launch that will send up Barbara Morgan, the backup for Christa McAuliffe in the Teacher-in-Space program. Yeah its 21 years later, but Morgan officially joined NASA in 1998 as a mission specialist. (Thats 22 years since Reagan announced in 1985 that there's going to be a "Teacher-in-Space" program) In addition to continued ISS construction, there will be several educational activities planned. Also, this is Endeavour's first flight in over 4 years. Should be going off pad 39-A (the southern one). Good views are all along US-1 in Titusville as well as Jetty Park in Port Canaveral.

(I'm not photographing this launch, i'm no longer living in Florida.)

The only times ive realy seen military planes over WDW are when theyre going to the Navy bombing range thats in Lake and Marion Counties, way north of WDW. Saw a Harrier jump jet streak overhead at about 300 feet one day (Thats an AV-8B for those who like said designations) while walking through the Magic Kingdom, headed north.

Marion county is where my parents and grandparents live. My grandmother lives in the Ocala National Forest area and I used to spend summers out there.

At any rate I remember seeing F-18's come flying over her house at just about supersonic (I figured it out because you'd see the plane fly by, then what was like a minute later you'd hear the beginnings of the rumble which became the loudest noise you've ever heard ) and 200ft above the tree line running to the range. They where so close to the ground you could see all the details of the plane and when they'd be banked and coming in you could see clearly the cockpit. You'd see like 10 of 'em in a day it was so cool. Then you'd hear this huge explosion in the distance. Who knew they could do live fire that close to residential areas! In the end it sure did make going to Grandma's house the coolest things, it was like our own personal air show. :ROFLOL:

We saw the Shuttle launch in December last year. We were at the Hoop Dee Doo Revue when it took off. There were probably 25 people outside at the time. The launch was something to remember. I was surprised by how bright it was, considering how far away we were. But after it cleared the trees, you could see it heading out into space. The best way I could describe it would be a giant Tylenol capsule with a light trail behind it. I was holding my 5 year old and he was amazed seeing it go up, it was one of the highlights of all my trips down to WDW.

I agree-- here in Phoenix we have our friends at Luke and it's pretty amazing what they can do. if I drive on flight day I have to remind myself not to rubberneck.

Good luck to those of you hoping to catch the shuttle launch. I know they can be tricky. :)
