Ahsoka (Star Wars Disney+ Series)

I'm excited about Ahsoka, but I fear the show may not be accessible for people who haven't watched Clone Wars and Rebels. I had the time to binge both during COVID-19, but I'm sure many Star Wars fans haven't seen either.
That could be an issue. I see potentially 2 issues. One, like you said, the normal everyday fan isn't going to watch a catch me up video on YouTube to prepare for this. So they might just take a pass on it. Two, Disney knows this so they spend the first 2 or 3 episodes focusing on flashbacks/backstory... Possibly leading to a rushed ending like we've seen so many times.

Hopefully Dave has done a good job in giving the proper backstory, without sacrificing the story at hand. I can say, my wife isn't really interested in the show. She has no investment in the characters outside of Ahsoka from Mando. Hopefully that's enough. It wasn't for Andor, but this show looks a lot more action/excitement oriented.

Looks good on the full screen. Definitely there is flasback footage with Christensen

Hopefully, they actually use some de-aging technology this time. Whether it's projection mapping a young face, digitally smoothing out aged skin or even just using some make up. The fact they didn't even try with that in Kenobi speaks to the laziness of some of these productions.

What do you mean? They did de-age Christensen & Mcgregor in Obi-Wan.

Did they beyond wigs? It was widely commented on at the time how they didn't. There are even plenty of examples of people going in an attempting to digitally de-age Hayden online complaining that they didn't do this in the show. So if they did, they did a really bad effort.

Obi-Wan Kenobi's Anakin Flashback Proved De-Aging Isn’t Always the Answer
Obi-Wan Kenobi didn't rely upon this technology for flashback sequences that involve Clone Wars-era Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker. That's despite actors Ewan McGegor and Hayden Christensen being 20 years older. The result proves de-aging isn't always the answer.

Pretty sure they did mcgreggor and let Christensen ride…

In the behind the scenes featurette…they make the comment Christensen “hadn’t aged a day” and mcgreggor had “dots on his face”

I wouldn’t have noticed much at all. Their appearances aren’t that different now and you just needed them to be together

I think obi wan was great for that…they missed It up with the baby Leia unneeded stuff…but the two prequel era characters worked out well. Just my opinion.

Ive seen the whole series 3 times and I guess to me I thought they looked fine. I think it’s also because you know what time period that clip is supposed to be from.

I guess that’s just me, I think Disney/Lucasfilm has spent a lot of time/energy on de-aging characters in recent Lucasfilm projects, Leia in Rogue One, Luke in Mando/Book of Boba Fett, and Harrison Ford in Dial of Destiny

I distinctly remember a backlash for the Carrie fisher/Peter Cushing redos in R1…

And though the tech was in its infancy…I thought it was an amazing achievement/potential. You want to be able to tie the old with the new together.

I thought the Mando Skywalker was really good…the Indy was pretty good…

But the second go at hamill in Boba looked sloppy and rushed to me?

Anyway…

Agreed on everything.

I think Hamill in Boba was the longest / most scenes we’ve seen with the tech. Also instead of just simply de-aging they stuck Hamills head on someone else’s body? I think it was his son or something (maybe a stunt double)

For Mandalorian

For Book of Boba Fett

And they FINALLY used Anthony Ingruber as a stand in for Ford in Indy 5 (look him up-he played a younger Ford in Age of Adeline and looks JUST like a young Ford).

They have the makings to have Luke, Han, and even Leia to appear together which is a SW fan's wet dream (am I allowed to say that?). They can limit Leia's scenes because she was actually pregnant with Ben at the time these shows and the eventual movie will have taken place. Billie Lourd has already stood in for Leia.

Gawd I hope not. Those movies are terrawful

Obey one line from them and “bury the past”

The triumvirate of absolute fools had the chance to put them together and missed it.

so now they are banished to Hollywood history.

There’s a Hollywood lesson to be learned: get over yourself and don’t screw up.

Many fans have been asking for this, but narratively, I don’t think it would make sense for them to appear (at least all 3 of them) in this show.

The time to bring all 3 of these characters back would’ve been in the sequel trilogy, and while they all appeared, never all 3 of them together, as they were too busy killing Luke’s character figuratively and literally killing Han’s…. Oh wait Leia died too…..

I am not a sequel trilogy hater as many on here are, but they did make some missteps that would be hard to go back and fix now.

I could see Leia appearing if this show was more based around the rebel alliance (as Leia appears in Rebels), but I digress.

I wouldn’t expect to see any “legacy” characters aside from Anakin and maybe a surprise person (whoever the inquisitor actually is)
