Just to follow up…on the rotten tomato’s timeline it’s Jedi +5…so Mando…

I know they officially “killed” the EU…as evidenced by them repeatedly scrounging it to find anything they can sell…but the zahn books were Jedi + 10…
Just interesting because of thrawn…the original EU character.

Ha we should be friends! Myself and my friend have already taken the day off to stand in line early to get everything we want. Its just more satisfying than ordering online, I guess its the 80s kid in me that remembers waiting for someone to return a movie at the movie rental place, or doing black friday shopping when people had tents lol. I just wish Lucas had the BALLS to have done the Real Heir to the Empire, after Return of the Jedi. God that might have averted this whole New Star Wars disaster. IMHO. Sorry not real wild about the New Trilogy.

Same argument ive had since the prequels were announced. They should have done the sequels then. You could do prequels ANYTIME (although I am sure george wanted to tell his idea of anakin, although dont get me started on this whole he knew the whole story bs).
The Prequels would have to be recast, so they could have been done anytime. When the prequels came out.... Harrison probably wouldnt have done a sequel but the rest of the cast would have.
Mark Hamil would have been 48 by sequel time 64
Carrie Fisher would have been 43 by sequel time 59
Billy Dee would have been 62 by sequel time 78
Harrison ford would have been 57 by sequel time 73

Now imagine if Lucas had made the sequels in the early 90s. All your main characters are still young.
Sure we wouldnt have had the cgi if done before 99 but.......

That zahn series was alot of rehashing of the OT…it would have probably come off that way too…

But it just seems much better now after the 6 movies they DID make.

They didn’t watch the clone wars then…that was really a highlight

I remember it being pretty obvious at the time that going “prequel” in the 90’s seemed like kinda risky.

Because it was the right time to use the established 3/4 actors.

But George didn’t want to pay - let’s not bs

He wasn’t gonna pay ford when 10 geeks can make 3,000 more goofy robots in the background no one has seen to this day

My thought in like 97 was do the 3 and Roll into the sequels pretty quick?

Clone Wars started a little shaky with the three episode combined movie. Everyone hated that thing because the characters looked like Thunderbirds puppets. It was Star Wars first bomb. It got a lot better and Ahsoka grew and matured. No more "Sky Guy" or "Snipps" name calling. Anakin was fleshed out better than he ever was in the movies. The Bad Batch and Rebels just continued the story.

Now with Heir to the Empire, I assume we get a Joruus C'baoth the mad cloned jedi and Thrawn working on gathering three items to go against the New Republic. Hopefully they don't try to tie the end results to the First Order.
