A "Goofy" Cast Member

The first time that I went with my family (supposed to be a magic moment). We were greeted by most of the Cast, Chip, Dale, one of the plastic soldiers from Toy Story (i liked him he was very funny) even Mickey ( my mom and sister were on their first trip and the did get to be pictured with him).

But when it was over Epcot's America Adventure a "Goofy" was around, my sister and me made the line to be photographed the "very goofy of him"when it was time for us he just grabed my sister by the shoulders and removed her from the line and keept greeting other guest there. Goofy was her favorite Disney Character of all time, now because he almost ruin our vacation and made her Cry (and yes she was 30 at the time and was her first time in Disney World)is no more.

Is not good for people like that to damage and ruin what sometimes is a huge money investment and a great sacrifice to made a travel like that.

I know that CM are people too and (at least me I like to make them also laght by a joke or by a smile (wish is free) and the deserve good, but when one has been polite and enjoyed the a line to be treated like that, because of "nothing", now THATS WRONG.

Aawwweee.... pooor thing! I´m sorry!

I hate when characters or cast members are too "friendly"... that´s why I don´t really enjoy "whispering canyon" and the other one where you have to eat "your peas" (u get the idea). Let me live!!! :animwink:

My girlfriend and I were having Breakfast w/ Pooh at the Crystal Palace one morning and Eeyore was joking around with a child (playing tug-of-war with his autograph book) Then all of a sudden, Eeyore YANKED the kid right off of his chair and the kid smacked his head on the floor...now, this was not just an "accidental tug" the kid actually FLEW off of the seat...and they didn't even pay for breakfast...they just "went out back" and got him Mickey's autograph...didn't even bring MICKEY to HIM!!!

I can tell you from personal experience that the answer is yes!!! I was VERY apprehensive about riding in the front of RNRC the first time. I have no idea who the nice young man(CM) was but when I declined both the front and back seats on the ride he happily put me in row 6 and he didnt even ask why I wouldnt go in rows 1 or 12!!! Having been on the ride now, I will go anywhere a CM directs me but I thank that gentleman for his patience and understanding that day!!!

Private property or not there is to be understood that a certain amount of respect is to be shown to a Customer/Guest paying for a service offered by a company. There is no place for a rude Employee/CM in a Bussiness/professional environment. Also untill DL was built the term "Guest" was usually used in the Lodging Industry. Walt brought the term a new standard and with it a new professionalism that was not found in the parks that he took Sharon and Diane to as children. And where he later pondered as the things he wanted to change and not see in his parks. Now I agree if a Guest is getting out of control he should be ejected, but there is no reason for a CM to make Disparaging remarks about someone especially if there Handicaped, and not assume they know what there handicaped is or is not. Thats just plain heartless and meanspirted

I too have had experiences with rude CM's.. Once with I was trying to buy my daughter her first set of mickey ears and have her name embroidered on them and I was told by the CM to hurry up because she was going on break.

I have also had some wonderful CMs as well. Once we were so thrilled by one that we went to City Hall in Town Square and filed a comment with them on how great he was. I would imagine that you could do that as a complaint as well.

The thing some CM's seem to forget is that they work for us. We pay the high admission prices, buy all the souvenirs, food and hotel bills. They should remember that when they are dealing with guests. I for one think there is no excuse for the way they act and they have a lot of power to actually make a guests visit a lot nicer.

In my numerous trips to WDW I have only come accross one CM who was a bit rude, but I think it was just a long day for him. We were leaving Epcot and we walked up to the monorail platform. There was a monorail there as we approached the area. The CM hesitated as did we because we thought it was full. He said "go head there is room" so we walked out on to the platform to get in. We heard and saw another CM yelling at the first CM but we couldn't make out what he was saying. We realized there wasn't any room so as I was trying to turn my daughter's stroller around to get back in line and the original CM that told us to go ahead yelled "YO! Get behind this line NOW!" We get back to the line, my grandmother said "we're sorry, you told us we could go" he slammed the gate and stomped away saying "some people!". I stood there with my mouth open unable to believe what I witnessed. This all happened in such a short time. I can understand him yelling for us to get back because the monorail was about to leave and it was loud but there was no reason to slam the gate and say what he said afterwards. And it wasn;t just us who thought he was rude because a lot of people around us said that it was uncalled for. We went to Guest Services and I refused all the perks they gave us I just wanted him spoken to. My Daughter, who parrots everything she hears, for the rest of the night was saying "some people!" like him. I did get a chuckle out of that though! ;)

Sometimes it is best to just turn away and ignore a bad experience with a CM. I am going to say that from my experiences working (which for me havent been all that much), jobs where you must work with people can be very frustrating at times. now, I would expect the stress to double, or even quadruple for CMs at theme parks, as they have to work with thousands of people each day.

Please keep in mind that these are real people working here. People just like you and me. They do have a higher capability to work with people, and be frendlier with people than many out there, as Disney and Universal try their best to hire the right people for the job. But even the greatest CMs in the world can have bad days.

Now picture this: You work at Disney. You are in charge of getting people on/off a certain ride. Now I am not sure how long a CM's shift is, but I am guessing that they work long enough shifts to go through a large amount of people. It is your duty to try to keep everyone happy, be happy, get them on and off safely, keeping the guests comfortable while still abiding to the guidelines that the park has. Now you cannot tell me that after working there for a week or so, you will always be happy, and have no problems with guests. Sooner or later, be it your fault or someone elses, there will be a problem. This goes for almost ANY job, no matter how much experience you have in it.

mabey that angry CM had a bad day? Mabey he just broke up with someone? Mabey he is having financial troubles at home? Ok, if they continue to do a poor job handling guests, they are not fit for the job. But if he/she screws up once, and that guest gets so angry that it could cost him his job or would get him in deep trouble, then there would be no one working at Disney anymore.

If a CM seems to be intentionally making your day miserable, or continues to act aggressive, then there is a problem. But don't let one little incident ruin your whole trip.

"Goofy" did the same thing to me when I was waiting to take a picture with him. The Character Caravan stopped at Epcot and there was almost no one else around. It was early in the morning so there were about 20 guests around the many characters. It was one of my best Disney magic moments! I got "kissed" by Gepetto and hugged by Mickey. Goofy was another story. He posed for the picture and just as a nice bystander was ready to take the picture he started running. We ran after him. He ran away from us and stopped and started the picture taking process about 10 times before I yelled "Goofy!!!" He just sort of shrugged and then stopped & put his hands on his hips. I stood next to him and finally got the picture. Running around a few times would have been ok but I got sort of aggrivated. I had asked this complete stranger to take my picture and then the poor lady was running after me and Goofy for like 5 minutes!!!!

I'm not making any accusations of any sort, BUT...

when a character sees a guest jump in front of someone else in line, they are allowed to bypass the jumping guest.

Now I'm not making any accusations, but perhaps it was crowded and Goofy couldn't tell where the line was at, and it was just a simple misundestanding

I will bend over backwards for a guest to accomodate their every need..

but when a guest tells me that, I walk away. Until I see their signature on my paycheck, I never will accept that statement (sorry.. tis true... I will do whatever I can, but I only have 1 boss)

I had an aggressive face character once but she was right

My family and I were in the France pavilion and Belle came out for a meet 'n' greet. She sat down right next to my youngest daughter (4, at the time), and invited her up on her lap. My daughter was in heaven! Belle pulled out a book and showed my daughter the pictures and talked to her for several minutes.

I started to sense that a crowd was gathering and thought that my little girl had had a fairly long turn (it had been a lot more time than anyone ever gets with a character in one of these sessions), so I started trying to get her to let Belle move on to the next little girl. Belle looked at me and said something to the effect of 'Just a minute,,,, Dad' in a polite but firm tone and spent another couple of minutes with my daughter.

(I guess that she might've thought that I was getting impatient and wanted to move on to the next thrill ride or something).

My daughter never noticed the interaction, and still fondly remembers Belle reading to her in Epcot. I felt a little bad that I'd given Belle the wrong idea, but you really can't go back and clear the air - but she handled it really well.
