After the Fantasyland expansion, then what?

Epcot needs help far more than Hollywood Studios. WS needs attractions and Universe of Energy is just awful. I still think a Japan ride ought to happen.
In order of Help needed:
Epcot ($600m for FW and $400m for WS needed)
HS
AK (Coming with Avatar)
MK (Coming with FL)

I personally believe they should bulldoze Lights Camera Action and put their own Cars land...it is already right there with Pixar place and they have plenty of room back there

They ought to do a deal with Hasbro and build a My Little Pony dark ride since they scrapped Pixie Hollow. I think that would make Magic Kingdom 20% cooler.

Please no. A Brony swarm in Magic Kingdom would be even worse then the Brazilian tourists.

Would it be wrong to say as little as Disney can possibly get away with?

Well, it might hurt some fans' feelings, but it isn't wrong as far as inaccurate ...

Well, we can always hope for a mistake. "According to my calculations, as little as we can possibly get away with is a 1.6 billion dollar EPCOT expansion." :lookaroun

They should stick away from shows unless it comes with a strong back story like ToT.

Example; AIE.

By the way...you don't think that LOST has a strong back story? I am thinking in an enclosed steel roller coaster, with the Black Smoke chasing you and a pre show with explanation video starring Dr. Pierre Chang. Namaste:animwink:

Seems like there's a lot going on besides just Fantasyland:
- Avatar land (meh)
- Test Track
- Downtown Disney changes (ok, seem on again off again)
- Grand Floridian expansion / DVC
- Art of Animation and crazy size pool

I truly believe that MK and maybe WDW as a whole will get the DL 50th treatment. Over the next 10 years we'll see the park gradually spruced up to shine for its 50th birthday. Maybe even that elusive Soarin' over ??? video will surface before then :lookaroun

Add Fort Wilderness DVC.

I don't like the idea of the Great Movie Ride being updated because I like it the way it is. If they updated it,maybe Avatar and Twilight will be in the ride. Who knows?

I feel the same in some respects, but here's the situation as I see them:

1) There are several sections that are simply unimpressive and/or artificially elongated due to budget/rights/etc. These would include, most specifically, the Tarzan scene and the "Horror" scene (which is really just about as generic as it gets). Some put Aliens in this category, but I disagree - I think that section needs some reworking, and also some new animatronics (these break down too frequently), but it's a highlight of the ride personally.

2) There is also quite a bit of wasted space. For example, the really long entry into the gangster scene. The Western scene could be shortened.

3) They could selectively trim and update and then add stuff around them, or they could start from scratch. Something tells me, the latter is what "they" would push for, only because it's easier to gut and rebuild anew than to work out all the logistics of working around the stuff already there. I, of course, would prefer the former.

An additional problem is the extent of licensing/branding/corporate "families", now vs. the 80's when the original ride was constructed. There are several films in there that are not Disney and I think they'd have a harder time getting rights to such things for additional films to include now as opposed to then (i.e., any Universal or Warners films would be excluded due to their current contracting with competitors, etc.). And, let's face it, live action Disney isn't exactly brimming with Oscar winning movie classics.

It's something I'd like to see, done right, but I think I'd side with the 'leave well enough alone' if they were going to drastically rethink it. The one thing I'd like to see rethunk the most, though, would be if they dropped the "soundstage" thing - take me IN to the movies, immerse me...it's the same way I felt about Star Tours 1.0.

I really don't think "World" is the way to go. It seems too easy. If anything, it would be neat if they revised with something like "Florida", which makes sense, since this is Florida after all and the "California" one is in California.

A ride showcasing FL's landscapes would certainly increase the ride capacity - since the ride film would be about 90 seconds, with a good half that time devoted to a gator scare mid-film. ;)

Three Words: "LOST" The Ride. Site: Disney Hollywood Studios. You know you want it. :animwink:

A ride? No. An experience? Well, it certainly would be awesome in that River Country plot.

Some say LOST is over so why would they, but with such an incredibly rich mythology, it's also screaming for a "secret DHARMA station" for you to explore, spend time in, etc. Heck, even offer an "overnight" package, including your very own DHARMA jumpsuit.

I also think we haven't even begun to hear the last of LOST - everyone swears up and down the show is over, but I have no doubt within the next 5 years some LOST project will show up, so many possibilities with so many characters, the time travel aspect, etc. - probably short form miniseries, etc. I honestly think it's the best IP for the "boutique" park concept they could come up with.

"But I don't want to be a pirate!"

This is one of the reasons my fiance and I have bought all of the Walt Disney Treasures DVD sets. I want my kids to appreciate and love Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck for what they were...not for this Mickey Mouse Clubhouse crap! I also bought them for myself because I will enjoy watching the classic shorts with my children instead of that Clubhouse Crap!

I don't like that Clubhouse crap...

:lookaroun

Do you have kids?? My 2 yo DD loves the Clubhouse AND all the old Disney clips. Neither is crap. Both are excellent.

:ROFLOL: Sorry, I'm really not trying to sound snotty so please don't take this that way but when I read this thread title I couldn't help but laugh. People have been begging and begging for something new and big since TSM and then they do something big (New Fantasyland) and then something else big (I hope) right on it's heels (Pandora) and the next thing someone says is "What's next?!" LOL I found that hilarious. :ROFLOL:

But to answer, I think they ought to spend some time and money in EPCOT. I know, I know, it's sponsor driven. But not all of it. They could work on the FutureWorld section and, for the lack of a better phrase, "Future it up".

They should really look into the expansion of Pixar Place. If they are going to walk away from hand drawn animation and get in bed with Pixar then they should just rip off the bandaid, sign the divorce papers with hand drawn animation, and go for it. Expand the Pixar Place section. The only problem is that it looks like they will have to do some major rennovations backstage or they will need to remove Lights Motor Action. The park is surrounded by roads and highways. No serious room for expansion back there where Pixar place is right now.

with the success of Tangled I HIGHLYYY doubt Disney will be fully separating itself from hand drawn animation.. after all thats whats made disney disney... but theyll continue with the Pixar as well... and because of the growing pixar success... a pixar studios expansion would seem self evident... incorporating such movies as Incredibles, Up, and Monsters Inc to that area would seem rather crowd desiring... I think itd be smart for Disney to announce some time.. after Brave comes out in theater or perhaps to dvd.
