After Star Tours....is this what's next?

Please please please please please build it!

Oh, and an OP with one post that just happens to be incredible theme park news that is easy to believe and hard to debunk? Nothing wrong with that... I was just thinking this weekend about how giddy we all were debating the FLE plans and whether or not they were real and how sad it was that something that juicy would probably not happen again for a long time. Funny.

Heading off to uspto.gov...

Looking at the first image is eye popping ...just considering what 'might be'.

Check it out...as it looks like riders get to have a interlude with the Falcon before venturing forth for a cruise down the infamous 'Trench'.

IIiiiiiEeeeeeeEEE!!!

:)

I'd be more excited if they kicked the Star Wars theme. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the series, but... we have Star Tours.

BUT, the ride does look amazing. We can only hope.

I'm not a BIG Star Wars fan either, but this is something that Disneyland. Hollywood Studios, and Shanghai Disney could totally build to cut the overall cost!

Go for it Disney...this may be the next big thrill you NEED.

I'd rather see it in TL at MK instead of DHS!

Well, people were complaining that there was no Death Star trench run in the new Star Tours... The people at Lucasfilm and WDI had to know that a Death Star run would be something that people would want... this really could be the other shoe to drop. Hot dog hot dog hot diggity dog.

Looking at the ride layout, some of the movement depicted in what look like "dogfight" sections seems pretty intense. Lots of dead ends and doubling back. I wonder if you could do this with the Crush's Coaster setup? You get to one of these dead ends, your car spins around so you are facing in the new direction? Or could those be inversions? It would make sense given the setup, but that would be an awful lot of inversions. If you are going to be shooting at things, you don't want to zip around like RnRC. This would be something slower. The queue could be really cool... one side rebel base, one side Imperial training center.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know the name of this patent?

It looks really interesting based on the pictures.

Star Wars isn't exactly tomorrow, though. It's yesterday. It's not based on our reality, it's based on the past of its own reality, and it's less an exhibition of living and technology than Tomorrowland is supposed to be (even if it goes the retro future route, which I'm okay with).

Most of all, though, I'd prefer Tomorrowland have as few film tie ins as possible, and for DHS to have a larger dedication to a Star Wars area.

All of that said, if this was actually built, they should put it where they have space for it. If that's not DHS, it's not DHS.

There is a huge expansion plot behind SM.

Hey, hey, hey now... It's nothing against Star Wars. I have nothing against Star Wars. BUT, if it went in DHS, I'd figure the only place for them to put it would be on the back part of the lot where BLT, and LMA is. Which would be really close to the already existing Star Wars attraction. Now, if they could make it flow, and it not to be found too similar, I'm all for it. I just don't want too much of a good thing.

Most of all, though, I'd prefer Tomorrowland have as few film tie ins as possible.

I agree with this as well. Give DHS the movies!

Since at this point this is all just daydreaming anyway... What about in Futureworld? In place of WOL? They already "soiled" the '82 Futureworld with Nemo, and Epcot could use some true love... Star Wars makes as much sense in Epcot as Nemo does, IMHO...

No way id rather have WOL sit empty.
