So hubby is taking me and my 2 little ones back to WDW this fall, this will be our second trip this year...:sohappy:
We decided to book the Poly this time around and I can't wait! Now my only question is after I stay a week at the Poly will I ever be able to go back to a Moderate or Value resort?? I'm afraid that this will spoil me (ahem..of couse I deserve it) especially with having the monorail and being able to walk to TTC...

We are leaving in about 20 minutes for our 10th stay at the Poly. It was the first on property resort we stayed at and it is our fav. We've also stayed at the Contemporary 3 times, Grand Flo once, Yacht Club one and every moderate. We love being on the monorail but the price sometimes prohibits that. When we travel with a big group and require 3 rooms, we do moderate (last summer Caribbean Beach). We'll also do moderate for a short trip. You can go back because we do but we also come back to the Poly.

You can go back...well at least I did. While the deluxe resorts are great they also carry a hefty price tag to go along with their greatness. In the future you might wish you were on the monorail going to MK instead of a bus but it will overshadowed when you get a three digit bill vs. a 4 digit one.

I couldnt agree more. I have stayed at all of the Values, All of the Mods and most of the Deluxes. I do mix it up as far as where I stay. When I want to treat myself, I certainly consider the Deluxes first, however if it makes the difference between going and not going to Disney, well I Am sure you know what the answer is!!! That having been said, I think Disney has a great collection of resorts in all pricing levels. Certainly you will get more amenities theming etc at a Deluxe but the Values are great too and come with the quality and service, not to mention the perks of staying on property, that one would expect of a Disney resort. We've never stayed at a moderate (except spring break 93 at dixie landings, which I don't remember much about). We always stay at a deluxe, WL, GF, BC, etc. We're going back in Dec and staying at BC again and weren't planning on flying down in the fall for the Halloween Party but we received a pin code for 40% off and decided "what the heck" We were able to get a room at PORS for $89 per night and plane tickets from Detroit for $140 rd trip so by staying at a moderate we're able to take a trip that we otherwise wouldn't be able to. Whethe or not we'll go back to a moderate, I don't know, but we're excited about staying at someplace new to us, and if it works out well, who knows, maybe we'll stay there again in the future.

Oh yes, you can go back. My very favorite resort (and I have stayed at Value, Mods, Deluxe) is POR (mod). It is the WDW resort that is magic for me.

I am staying at AKL in July for the 3rd time, and can't talk about the experience for the other deluxe resorts but AKL is awesome from start to finish.

A very Disney friend of mine stayed with her husband at the Wilderness Lodge and told us that the walls were paper thin and they could hear families on each side of them. I don't know if this is the case, but it is not so with AKL.

Still, the resort is only just a part of the overall experience and guests at EACH resort level experience magic! That's why you can go back. Still, I hope you have a great trip and enjoy the resort:wave:

Ha ha, this is exactly what my wife says since our last 3 trips have been Deluxe. I understand what you mean & hope I won't have to find out too!

We used to think POFQ was IT, until we stayed at Boardwalk, then Beach Club!
This is why we do not DARE to try concierge:lol: (booked it twice though)

i can see where it may be hard but i try to look at each resort as a different experience themselves instead of deluxe/moderate/value etc.. we have stayed at all three levels and have had a fabulous time at any of them....

Yes, you become SPOILED once you stay at a deluxe!!! Once you stay at a Deluxe, there is no going back to mod or value. My first few years I stayed at Value and was happy there, worked my way up to a mod (CB) then once I stayed at a Deluxe (Poly and AK) I can never envision a trip at anything less than a Deluxe. In a way I wish I would be satisified with a cheaper hotel because of the risky economy, but I just can't see staying at a mod or value now!

We have stayed at all 3 levels. We have no trouble jumping around from the different levels. Most recently we stayed at Boardwalk. It was very nice being able to walk to the studios and Epcot. Even though we were at a deluxe resort we still had a few issues. Nothing that ruined the trip or made us sad about our resort decision. Just thoughts about how different things can be better for some people. We would def. go back to Boardwalk, Yacht, Beach, Swan or Dolphin. It was a great location for us. We would never pay rack rate for the resort.

Side note: CM nearly gave me a heart attack when they left a phone message for us on Weds. about how everything was in order for our Thursday morning check out...when we were checking out on Saturday! It was quickly straightened out.

We have no problem going back and forth. It really depends on our wallets each for each trip. We stayed at Poly on our last trip and will be at Pop for our next.

For us the hardest part about going back is the beds. DH and I are both move around alot in our sleep so when we don't stay at Deluxe we don't sleep in the same bed. Poly was great because we got a bed and each kid got their own bed too.

POP has new beds in most of the rooms! Much more comfortable but not bigger!!

It's hard to do. We had been staying at AKL and WL for several times (we go to the World about 4 x a year) and stayed at POFQ once this year. I didn't like being unable to sit on a balconey, or even keep the blinds open in the room when we were in there due to people walking by. I'd rather go on one less trip and go cheaper deluxe like AKL or WL than stay moderate again.
