Adios Galaxy Palace Theatre!

Any idea where MMD will perform in MK without this theater? We are thinking about bringing a group down in August.

Depending on the size group, there's a few other options. The only real stage left at MK for MMD will be Cosmic Rays Starlight Cafe. The size of it prohibits larger groups from performing on it. Usually specialty instrumental groups, jazz groups, small choire groups perform on this stage.

Other than that, there's still a few others...such as Future World West at Epcot, and the brand new stage (wouldn't even call it a rehab, it's much larger and more accomodating) at the Dock at Downtown Disney. And a few others here and there.

I actually always felt bad for the groups performing on the Galaxy Stage. Because it was somewhat set in the back behind Buzz. Not many people went back there. MANY times the audience would only consist of the parents...even in peak attendance times.

It's set as a perfect theater, but not as a stage that provides maximum exposure for park guests to stop and watch (much like the old Tomorrowland Stage did).

Thanks for the info - I did notice on the application form it no longer asks for a "park preference" for our performance and another local studio is going in February and I believe they are on the stage at Downtown Disney.

We used to dance on the Tomorrowland Stage when it was up and it was great for exposure but no seating. The parents loved the seating at Galaxy Palace.

We usually have a group of about 40 dancers - I'll be interested to see where they put us.

Any idea about what they'll do about what you see from the TTA? It is just a glimpse, but seeing a parking lot would be a really 'bad show'!

Actually, if you were real observant, you could see the existing parking lot though those circular windows anyway. That always bothered me.

Me too! There are several things on the TTA that are not "magical". Such as a rooftop (easily covered with something) the covered widows in the BLSS tunnel (easily fixed with murals etc) and general upkeep (easily fixed with a bit of paint). If it was Epcot or AK it would be no big deal but we are talking about the Magic Kingdom here.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

So sad it had to come to this!
We tried to warn you all (it'd collapse) but oh dear...

You might not share our (fanboi) intellect,
which might explain your disrespect,
For all the (stage-like) wonders around you!

SO LONG, SO LONG! AND THANKS!

... for all the fish...

This is sad sad news, Mickey's Twas the night before Christmas is one of the biggest reasons I attended the Christmas parties, one of my favourite shows. :dazzle:

It'll be probably be re-formatted into a castle show. It might actually be better that way...

If it gets formatted in to a castle show, that means the current castle show performed during MVMCP will get the chop, at the end of the day its still the paying guest that once again with MVMCP is at a loss.

I wouldn't mind if it moved to the B&TB theater for the Christmas season every year. I think it would be a great venue for it! :xmas:

Well, isn't the one currently at the castle just the normal one? To me, that's not such a big loss. Oh! The little lighting one? That one's not really a show, just a lighting ceremony. I think they'll most likely keep that one. There are certainly no dancers in there. In fact, it only has, like, 7 or 8 people in it. Not a HUGE loss in my eyes if they decide to cut that one.

I wouldn't mind if it was placed in that theatre, it looks like it could work in that kind of set up, but the big issue is taking away something that is exclusive for MVMCP again. I know once the parties finish it is shown to the public, but leading up to Christmas it is one of those great shows that warrent paying the extra for a hard ticket event.

Yep it's just a lighting ceremony that can't possibly squeeze in another guest during the show because people love it. You are being sarcastic aren't you?

No during the MVMCP they show Celebrate the Season on the castle forecourt, Cinderella's Holiday wish is usually at 6:30 before the party begins.

Nah, they have a unique, Christmas themed stage show at MVMCP. It's called Celebrate the Season.

Edit: TheDisneyMagic beat me to it.

Oh. I've never been, sorry. So I guess that would force people to stay there all day, like at TDL... and don't we want to be more like them???

(Yes, that time I was being a funny one!)
