But TLF is live, there is a difference.

But couldn't the AA be controlled live in a similar way that the computer programs Crush? I don't know much about the technical sides of these things, but I thought that AA's could be controlled live, similar to that simple animatronic at One Man's Dream.

They probably can, but not at level and realism of a CG character. In time, I'm sure they will.

It's not just the movements of Crush... you would lose tons of the detail by removing Crush from his ever changing environment. AAs are not the answer to everything just like video/screen is not the answer to everything just like dark rides or omnimovers are not the answer to everything.

Ultimately, I think the biggest factor in TLF's success is going to be the actors performing the voices.

In Crush's case, the attraction is so popular in large part because Crush is hysterical. He's also frequently "mildly adult" in ways that go over kids' heads:

Kid: "How high do you swim?"
Crush: [looking around worriedly] "Dude... are you with the authorities?"
-
Crush: [holding women's bikini top] "I found this in the ocean...anyone know what it is?"
Kid: "A bra!!"
Crush: "A bra?! You mean like, 'sup, bra?'"

-p.b.

Sure... if they can incorporate it, that would be great. But I don't see why anyone should be "less" excited by a new attraction soley based on the premise that it may not have an AA.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm just as excited to see a 3D attraction as I would be to see an attraction with all AA's. But I just think Disney has such a great track record of hit attractions telling a great story with the use of AA's, it would be very cool to see them step back to their roots every once in a while and incorporate AA's in an attraction to tell the story. They have done it a good bit(TTBAB,Muppets 3-D,Buzz, etc...) but only on a small scale with 2-3 AA's.

But TBH I doubt we will see any PoTC or HM type ride any time soon if at all. I'm sure the cost to maintain rides such as that are thru the roof in comparison to a 3-D attraction.

But as I said I'm exicted either way cause I know whatever technology they use it will be ground breaking. :D

Not what I was saying. I just thought that AA's for this would be a great way to keep TT original and sort of "plus" the new attraction. I've always wanted to see a good AA of Sully and this could have been a good spot for it. It's not a big deal to me and there might not be any need to change the formula (If it ain't broke don't fix it, right?). I was just agreeing with the poster that said why couldn't AA's be used for this attraction. It's not a big deal

Exactly! Great post :sohappy:

Turtle Talk with Crush is a successful attraction because it provides guests with something they've never seen before. They've never interacted with an animated character to the extent that humans can interact with Crush (and to a lesser extent Dorey).

Had Stitch been made into an interactive animatronic then I'm guessing it would have the same popularity.
