ABC Commissary Changes

Today or tomorrow will be the last day for breakfast. They will have breakfast items at Fairfax Fries (if I remember correctly).

Fairfax Fare (the new name) actually makes a lot more sense to serve breakfast. ABC Commissary is nowhere near any of the attractions that draw the first-thing-in-the-morning crowds.

Last year, I had breakfast there, and it was memorable for being the worst thing we ate. A sandwhich that was supposed to be hot...wasn't.

I don't remember them naming the food after the TV shows...that's just...weird.

Wow..I really liked that Cuban sandwich...I thought it was one of the better offerings in the Studios.

Looks like I'll be finding another spot.

Breakfast doesn't bother me at all.

Not the Cuban sandwich! sigh....

It's gotten to the point that if we are visiting the parks and we don't plan on eating at a table service restaurant, we just eat off property either before or after the visit. I doubt we are the only ones.

Unless it's lunch at the Brown Derby, I think I will give up eating in DHS

The cuban sandwitch was at least passable (semi-passable)

It really was not that good a cuban sandwitch. The roast pork was held under heat lamps - or microwaved. Or at least so it tasted.

However, I have had worse cuban sandwitch (Had a particulary bad one last week as a matter of fact) but I have also had much much better.

Still it was a unique QSFB offering in a park that really seems to have limited dining options.

sorry if this has already been possted - couldn't find any other posts re this.

The Cuban Sandwich has been removed and replaced with the chicken Bleu (basically a chicken sandwich with ham and cheese.) The lady on the register also told me that they are no longer going to be serving breakfast in there.

That really sucks big time, on both items.

Dag nab it.

Agree. I hope there are decent breakfast offerings at Fairfax.

The only thing we go to ABC for is the curry chicken dish, which my DH loooves but I hate because he smells to high heaven after eating it.....(hoping it disappears from the menu soon). :D

The only thing I think is rather strange is naming the food after the shows....I wonder if during the 1990 TGIF Era they had funnier food names...for example

Perfect Strangers Chicken & Fish
Full House Club Sandwich
Family Matters BLT
Step by Step The Salad

Haha, I laugh at this idea every time I see that menu. The Lost Fish Sandwich I get, but The Extreme Home Makeover Asian Salad? :veryconfu

They should let Dunkin Donuts take over the place.

Or let Earl of Sandwich open a second location.

Or, in connection with Hollywood, let Wolfgang Puck open a second express restaurant.

There are may possibilities if WDW would be willing to share the profits with professional fast food vendors.

Unfortunatly I don't think share profits and WDW go together.

Oh, you're no fun.:p:lol:

But yeah, agree here. I don't necessarily go to WDW for the food, (last thing, as a matter of fact.) but QSR is what I usually get when at the World. This just makes it more bland. Shame the McD's are closing...

At least McD's gives you more of a selection and better quality than what you find at QSR's now...and at a much lower price.

I eat at The ABC Commisary twice a year and will continue to do so as long as they keep Fish & Chips on the menu.
It's the only thing I'll eat there and I Love it.

It's not nearly as good as the Fish and Chips in Epcot, but it's still a great option and a nice change from Hot dogs, Burgers, and Chicken nuggets. :)

Unfortunately, even in DHS there used to be more options than just fish and chips as the alternative. They used to sell steak gyros back by Honey I Shrunk the Kids; and the food at the Commissary was different and good. That was as recent as 2003.

If you want to go back even further, the Playhouse Disney building used to be a quick serve location with outstanding BBQ sandwhiches in the early to mid-90s.

DHS wasn't always the desolate QSR landscape it is now.

I get the feeling that Disney, for all its talk about healthy dining options, would sell nothing but burgers, hot dogs, chicken nuggets and fries if it could get away with it.

TPFKaTD-MGMS is the absolute worst. ... The Commissary is the only locale I dine at with regularity (other than Brown Derby) and it hasn't been all that good ... but I did like being able to get a Cuban sandwich.

Of course this is the park where I had a burger so bad, so inedible, on an EMH night maybe two years ago at the mess that is Rosie's food court that I actually trudged to Guest Relations and demanded my money back (got it without asking more than twice from a cute young IPer from Japan). That was a first for me in hundreds of WDW visits. But if McD's can make me a decent double cheeseburger at 2 a.m. for 99 cents (at the time), I had a BIG problem with being served something dry, chewy and tasteless for $6-something at 10:30 p.m.
