A Worse Dark Ride Than Mermaid

Unlikely, its still pleases guests due to the charm of the surrounding area and as an attraction to hit after Splash or while bigger kids ride on Splash.

It's unlikely to be updated because it still pleases guests? Really? Does that mean Pirates and Haunted Mansion keep getting updated because they DON'T please guests? Some would say the Haunted Mansion is the ultimate in charm.

POTC and HM are on the guest radar. Pooh is not. Making changes to things people know/care about creates interest. Changing the bathroom doesn't. Its why we saw an upgrade for Peter Pan and Alice but not so much for Toad, Pinocchio, and Snow White.

MK Pooh bounces with Tigger. DL Pooh makes you sea sick.
MK Pooh has story telling with pages and animation. DL Pooh has wooden doors.
MK Pooh has a smoke ring. DL Pooh elephant is clogged up.

Minus: MK Pooh killed Mr.Toad. DL Pooh killed the Country Bears.

Nice little changes for sure, but hardly enough to declare DL's far inferior. TDL is far superior to them both, but at most MK has a slight edge over DL due to the interactive queue and minor differences. Certainly not nearly close to justifying the difference in wait times between the two coasts.

I happen to really like the outdoorsy vibe of our queue though and at this point the interactive elements at MK's are pretty lame and outdated when you look at all the advances in touchscreens, smartphones and tablets since Pooh first opened there. It's definitely lost the dazzle it once had.

Pooh is the bathroom of Disneyland dark rides. I believe it will be the last one to get upgrading even though it needs it the most. Snow White was upgraded with projection first. Toad, Pinocchio and Roger haven't yet. I remember years ago there was a rumor that Toad was going to get upgraded. Never happened.

I'd say Monsters Inc will be the first to go due to location and the fact it is terrible. I hope they throw some effects or something at Little Mermaid as the ride feels so empty and cheap. Pooh doesn't need any help, its a pretty solid darkride.

I love Toad, but it could definitely use some modern touches. Peter Pan just needs to be ripped out and given a better ride with a similar ride vehicle concept.

Yeah, and the interactive queue often has broken elements and feels like a waiting room at a Pediatrician. I much prefer the natural queue to the boxed in pages and interactive elements.

IMHO, Monsters is better than Snow White, Pinocchio, and Pooh. Still beaten by Peter Pan, Alice, Toad, and Roger Rabbit. I think Mermaid is in a whole different category.

I like you, and I'd like to get to know you better. :D

I'm not sure which one I disliked more, Monsters or Superstar Limo. I don't think I'd ride either one again even if you paid me.

Pinocchio and Toad are the worst?? Pinocchio is my favorite of the FL Darkrides with Alice and Toad right behind. Peter Pan is actually my least favorite with how uneven the experience/story is and how terrible the last act of the ride is.

Different strokes. Toad is a bunch of painted flats. If Disney built it today, the venom would be out of control. But I like them all well enough. Like I said, I don't find the gap between best and worst all that great.

I think the TDL version is valid comparison considering they are both dark ride on the same subject. The difference between MK's Pooh and TDL's Pooh is TDL's trackless and has lots of animation. Otherwise they are similar.

I find this to be a pretty significant difference. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

Yeah... I'm with Yookeroo here. TDL Pooh is on a totally different level. A good comparison, if you were a child of the 80s or earlier like myself is that MK/DL is a really awful 8-bit home console port of a flashy next-gen arcade game. :)

Having ridden the WDW pooh again in May...I really don't find it overly preferable to the DL version. I still enjoy the DL Pooh ride from time to time but don't ride it often...I really don't ride any of the FL dark rides often either to be honest.

I still think this looks like a very inspired by version of Mystic Manor but not as good.

I'm not sure what Mystic Manor cost, but Symbolica was around 30 millions Euros. Disney can't make a spinner for that. Disney and Efteling steal from each other all the time. A lot of the Efteling rides look very familiar to Disney fans.

I don't see how cost plays a factor into anything I should care about. Unless we are assuming Disney is building less because of high attraction cost on their end? If they want to spend hundreds of millions on rides, go for it.

I was merely pointing out that they produced a high quality ride at the fraction of the cost. IMO Mystic Manor is the best Disney attraction in the world and if a small amusement park in Europe can make something even close to the best Disney has produced, they should be praised for it. That's all.

You should care though about the production cost. Your admission price is affected by the cost to build attractions. For example Disney admission costs hover around $100 per day. Efteling is roughly $30. I would argue Efetling is a much better value and even not considering cost I favor Efteling over many Disney parks.

Disney does cut budgets all the time due to high production costs. We should all care about how wasteful they are, but that's another topic.
