me too... my mom had a no pet rule - not even fish... as soon as I moved out i got a kitty and two dogs, a turtle and a mouse... my mom never came over... don't worry - you'll love your doggy all the more the day you can finally get one... you won't take him for granted like alot of kids do...

what color? I've been wanting a Maltese forever - but my DH likes big dogs.. he wants to get another great dane... (nothing like being a little extreme right? ;) )

It's white...I think that's what color they all are. She's a sweetie...but if she's got a treat in her mouth...watch out.

I like the small dog...I want to eventually get a sheepdog but I don't think my fiance could handle that. (He's never had a dog...only cats.)

A friend of mine's has a little grey/brown on her... but I love the all white - I think a maltese will be a little easier for my DD to be around... considering our last dane knocked small children down just when wagging his tail... he was a sweety but didn't know how big he was (155 lb for the record) I'm ready for something small and manageable...

yeah...she's definitely managable. I honestly don't remember what it's like to have a gigantic dog...so maybe I will stick with the small dogs. Plus, I like the fact that she doesn't shed. That means I wouldn't have to pick up hair all the time.
