Actually, I know of some people who drove from Alabama to Belize one summer. They did take a car that wouldn't be needed once they got back. I was in Guatemala at the time, so I wasn't able to go with them. It was a great trip though from what I heard (and the car went to the junkyard ). It's not a drive I'd recomend. lol

Well, not to sound rude... but anytime you start a post like that, that is the only way it will come across.

BTW... this is a Disney thread, so I think the post was perfectly reasonable, I highly doubt in everyday life this is a common question or consideration. But in a Disney forum and threads, I can see the logic to posting the question. I was wondering the same thing myself... more on the crowd issues however.

Although, we push it pretty hard, most families would need two full days. I cannot even imagine coming from the west coast or South America. How would you make it through Central America and even Mexico. I doubt the highways are anywhere close to developed to the extent of ours!!!! :veryconfu

I love reading about American's view of South America!   It's so good for a hearty laugh! Some regions of the countries may not have good roads, but living in a place like Mexico or Brazil doesn't necessarily mean you only have forests and treehouses!  :hammer:

As an American with family stationed in Panama and Columbia, I am pretty familiar with the region. My thoughts were only that a major highway system (or any well developed road system for that matter) does not exist from the US all the way through Mexico and Central America, to beautiful countries like Brazil. :)

Oh yeah, you're definately right on that one... SInce you're familiar with Panama, can you imagine a trip from, say Chile or Peru, ALL THE WAY through Central America, with all the stops at Panama's Canal alone, then up through Mexico, then across the US to the West Coast? That's one major highway to maintain! Maybe someday they'll come up with a country to country underwater tunnel or something... :hammer: :hammer:

more like hours not weeks not days

No offence intended but unless you happen to be wearing a uniform ( or a member of your family is) how exactly does this affect a planned holiday???????
It’s changed days since WWII, war in the gulf is for those in the theatre of operations, not for some overexcited glib commenting wooses several thousand miles away. Trust me, apart from the odd radical fundamentalist I think you’ll be quite safe hunkered down in your local Micky Ds.

Luckily some people have put self sacrifice before personal gain. Its nice to know that theres some one paying for freedom

Re: Re: Disney

I don't think that an actual WAR is something any of us can escape, no matter how hard we try.

If there's really a war, Disney will be one of the last things on my mind. [/B][/QUOTE]

THANK YOU!

Disney is always on my mind, war and stuff as such are going to happen I just dont bring on myself to get me down. As far as attendance goes I would go to the parks ude to the fact that I know attendance would be down from at leats people that have to travel overseas. It would make for a better vacation. I dont understand why more peole from the US dont go. Its perfect timing to plan a non crowded Disney magicical experience.

Unless Sir Richard Branson grounds his aircraft i will still be coming to WDW in September, and i'm sure looking forward to it.

But lets not forget why the world is in this predicament, it's because George Bush senior did not finish the job off during the gulf war, so now George Bush Junior is trying to finish off what his father started, i think it's called Keep it in the family.

I'm sure there are going to be a lot of comments about my statement but this is how a lot of Brits see it.

I see it's your first post. One of the rules here is no political discussions. Otherwise, you're right, there would be a lot of comments, I would sure have one :D , but I will refrain from breaking the rules. Welcome!!

Please, please stop. I realize this is a passionate subject, especially for those of us who may have friends or family or who may ourselves be directly affected by what is going on right now. But the mods can't be here to baby-sit us all the time-- we need to exercise some self control.

Mediman, I hope there AREN'T a lot of comments about your statement because if there are, people are at risk of being booted as Steve is very wisely trying to keep politics off the forum.

Smile. Be happy. This is a Disney board.

I have lots of comments but will refrain, and thanks, Erika, for the reminder. I think it would be "Disney" of you to edit this out.

I'm sure there would never be war if it were up to any of us unless we had to decide whether to "update" something like Country Bear Jamboree.

i would go even more. if we do go to war we need to show that we arent afraid. Disney is a big place and it is an target but i doubt anybody would think about it. I also would rather go then b/c the attendance is down and be easier to go rides
