But I am doing what I am doing so you CAN go to Disney and so you DON't have to worry. Yeah, I am risking my life... but it is for a greater good. The ideals that America are founded on is that greater good, and on of those ideals is that you have the freedom to go and enjoy your life.

With men and women like this, Saddam doesn't stand a chance. To Kicker and all our militray heros, God be with you!

Alright, I'm normally a joking type of guy, but I think I need to get serious for a moment here. 2 of my best friends, and another close one, are all in the USMC. 1 is in basic still, the other two have been deployed; one is in Hawaii awaiting orders...one is on classified duty in the middle east. Tell you what though, if you have ever gotten a call from a friend asking you if you would like anything of theirs because they are filling out a combat will and they do not know if they will be returning, it kind of makes you value your life a little more. I learned something from 9-11, and that is, "this is what it must feel like around the world". For so long we have, as americans enjoyed the relative peace and security our armed forces have provided us. The attacks on the trade center, pentagon, and flight 93 made me realize that I cannot sit back and let things happened. The day I turned 18, my school had the ASVAB tests, I took it, and scored a 91, pretty much garunteeing me anything i wanted to do in the services. In April I was 5 minutes from signing into the US Armed Forces so that I could become a member of the Airborne. I appreciate the forces...I may not agree with the government at all times, ad i hate to quote this man, but I think Eminem said it best, when he said, "I'm all for America, _____ the government" Sempre Fi USMC. All the other forces, my deepest gratitude for fighting battles so that I can enjoy my freedoms that so many people have lost their lives for.

Be strong

Hi, I'm from Israel, we already used to terror(as much as any one can) and for war,

I hope this time Bush will kick Saddam's dictaror ______ and after that will go for Iran (who are very close to compleating an atomic reactor) and Seria and all the terror supporting countrys (yeh Saaudia too)

Killing innocent ppl for religion sucks,

I wish good luck for all the brave american soldiers,

I THINK that out of all Disney theme parks worldwide, WDW would suffer the most, because it relies on visitors from around the world, and for the most part I THINK that most tourists will not be wanting to travel to a country involved in a war.
-Tyler:king:

Yes, I agree that WDW would probably hurt the most. Many Japanese and South American Tourists make up a large percent of Disney visitors. I doubt many Japanese will be traveling to the US with all the problems in Korea and such.

Speaking for Brazilians, we used to go a lot more, but economical problems, both domestic and international, made dollar rates go through the roof, so it's more expensive for us to go. But I believe that's the only reason. The whole talk about war not only messes with oil prices, it also messes the rates. But I don't think there are many people down here cancelling trips to the US because of the war, or because they're afraid to fly or afraid of terrorists. We deal with many of those problems on a daily basis  , it's a different mentality, I think. For example, in 99, Americans and Europeans were stocking food and water, afraid of Y2K. Most people down here didn't even know what the Bug was, let alone were stocking stuff...

Well it looks like it will start anytime now. Bush will formally issue his ultimatum tonight...Sadaam and his cronies have to leave the country within 72 hours or face the consequences. I am the mother of young daughters, but plenty of my friends have sons, some of whom are over there now. Terrorism has been around a long time (and probably will always be). As much as I hate war we cannot back down now. I have friends who lost loved ones on 9/11. I have family who spent countless hours on site with the FDNY and NYPD. I have heard the stories and these people have seen things no one should have to look at. I only hope that Bush has the guts to finish what his father could not. (heavy is the head that wears the crown). I will pray for him and all those over there. May God give them the strength, wisdom and courage to do what is right and needs to be done!

I'm sorry, I don't wanna offend anyone, but there's something in my head ever since this thread started and I just need to put it out. You all do realize that, even though Saddam IS a terrible man, he had nothing to do with 9/11, and that the one responsible for that is still at large, right? It's just that, to me, it'd make much more sense to go after him instead of picking up a new fight without solving the old one (not to mention North Korea).

Again, I don't wanna offend or insult anyone, but if you keep your minds open, you'll see this is a valid point for discussion.

I realize that Sadaam did not cause 9/11 and we are tracking our good friend Osama as we speak. Bush declared a war on terrorism and Sadaam has been a major offender...he has been at this a very long time and we are not the only country that he hates (but we are the strongest). It has been rumored that he is a friend of Osama and it seems to make sense...they both hate the US and all we stand for.

The one thing that myself, personally, am so afraid of (and it might be a fear of my fellow soldiers as well) is that this may turn into another Vietnam. They have frickin commercial media reporters going in there with the troops and so people will finally a get a look at the 'glories' of war. Sound familiar? The fact that Vietnam was a commercial war in the sense that people knew, saw, and constantly felt what was going on made the reception for the veterans a little less then desirable.

When this thing starts I want it to end FAST. If it takes longer then a month then expect it to be around a while. Time is not on our side with this.

There is really no need to debate the specifics anymore, as whats done is done. This is now a reality, no doubt about it. At this point, we need pray for our troops and hope that the whole conflict ends as quickly as possible AND achieves its objective (we don't want to go back).

The men and women of our armed forces are TOP NOTCH and have been training very hard. If they cannot do it, nobody can.

Godspeed to them, and rest assured I'll leave a yellow ribbon on my tree and a flag on my porch until every single one of them has returned home.

I do not mean to offend, but here is something to think about:
1. Saddam supports Terriorists with money
2. Allows them to train
3. Basically said last night he will result to terriorism if he is attacked.

Just how much is he not part of the world wide problem of terriorism? Directly linked with 9/11, nto yet. Indirectly, yes.

Again - I think Strobe put it best above me. The discussion is over it seems, our men and women are going to fight a war for us and the world. Support every single one of them before, during, and after the war.

Kicker and the rest of our brave military - go kick their behinds like you did in 91 and again in Afghanistan.

What a difference a few days makes... I was arguing how I'd still go to Disney regardless of a war...

But now that war is imminient, I'm GLAD I'm not going this week (or next week). It's not because I'm afraid of terrorism or anything... it's just that it would be hard to really relax and forget what's going on in the world in the face of such terrible developments.

Hopefully this will all be over soon. For the good of our troops, the good of the world, and the good of my Disney trip in May!

I think you will find that most western intelligence services believe that there is no connection. CIA included. In fact Osama and bushy Moustache man allegedly hate each other with a passion, that ole religion and politics thang.
However Madman does fund suicide bombers families, and no doubt claims tax relief on providing the affore mentioned bombers with the 12 virgins he’s promised when the reach the other side.

Again, I'm sorry, I didn't mean this as an attack to anyone, it's just a personal opinion based on what I see in the news and read in the newspapers. In fact, if you'll pardon me for saying it, it''s common opinion in South America (at least down here in Brazil) and in most of Europe that the US got interested in Iraq all of a sudden, forgetting Osama mid-way through the actions, and not paying all that much attention to what's building in Korea, because Bush wants to finish what his dad wasn't allowed to (from what I understand) and because of the oil.
I just wanted to shed some info on what the rest of the world has been thinking over the matter. Nobody denies the US and British soldiers are very brave for going into war, it's their duty and they were trained for it. My only fear is that, by doing this, the US will be undermining the UN's authority, therefore changing the world as we've known it since WW II. I don't worry about this war, I worry about the greater results it might bring. And I WISH I could forget all that in WDW! Unfortunately, my next trip is only in 2005, so I've got a long wait ahead of me in the real world... :(
