A Terror-rific Spirited 13th (ToT fans have lots to fear)...

Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
It is happening., the Tower will close (probably in similar fashion to DCA) and Marvel will, indeed, be in WDW (whether DIS will be able to use its own Marvel name is something that lawyers will hammer out as they currently can't, but may toss something UNI's way to get the allowance).

Stay tuned. More to follow.

So curious. In light of the announcement at D23 this weekend, are your sources saying this is a lie? Is it really still a go for the Tower to become the Marvel at the Studios and still certainly being developed for Florida despite Disney denying it this weekend? You are usually spot on so wondering what your sources are saying.

So...Chapek says the Tower is safe. I wonder if that's true. Certainly the backlash against DCA's Marvel atrocity has been fierce, at least online. Maybe it finally registered. Maybe the dude's not so blind after all. Although, to be fair, it's hard to see clearly with dollar signs in your eyes.

SEA sounds very interesting. Could Chapek's hints mean a revival of the Adventurer's Club and Dreamfinder and Figment? Could something that wonderful really happen in Iger's IPland? I wish...

I haven't been here much lately because, frankly, I'm losing heart, and interest, in WDW. It's turning into a place that is so un-Disney I can't imagine paying the steep prices required to visit. There are indeed other places to visit out there. I love theme parks, and Disney of course was the gold standard. It set the bar. But lately it seems like the minions running the company are doing their best to creep underneath it. No way they'd ever raise the bar that Walt set. The only thing they've raised is prices. Feh.

^ Naive fools... enjoying themselves at a Disney Park. I've never heard such a ridiculous statement in all of my life. Why are you discussing such vile things like enjoying Disney Parks here on WDWMagic?
The sad truth about this board. With all the dumb mistakes Disney makes nowadays, we forget about how much more we have to appreciate that is still there from the parks' past.

Universal looks impressive because they keep building "new" things. BUT those new things just replace other things. Yeah it's impressive seeing the newest technology constantly on display with new exciting movies, but there is no value placed in anything more than 5 years old at Uni. If it was Universal, the Tower of Terror would've been rethemed years ago. So would everything else. That's how Universal can open new attractions every year and still everything in both parks can be done in like a day and a half.

And Uni only gives a crap about immersive theming because Potter fans wanted to visit a movie set. Look at Transformers! It's a giant gray block in the middle of the studio section of the park. It is an ugly, ggray military bunker right in the middle of the studio section. Why the flip is King Kong in Jurassic Park? Potter theming looks impressive till you ride Dragon Challenge and suddenly your just in a random backstage area as you flip around. People praise them so much, but they didn't even have the decency to add a quidtich banner I something to the ride itself.

Disney will always be better because they go for timeless. Already no one cares about the Transformers movies anymore. Who really is going to remember Fast and the furious 8 in 10-20 years? Think Despicable Me and the minions will be remembered once the current generation of kids outgrow them? Dont forget about the timelessness of Brandon Frasiers Mummy movies! the Mummy ride they replaced Uni's signature attraction with is stop there!

Uni has some very impressive rides and Islands of Adventure is like 80% to being incredible. But they are always going to be the Sega to Disney's Nintendo because all Uni cares about is what's popular now. Disney has a ton of problems right now and I worry that decisions being made will make it worse, not better, but Disney is still streets ahead of Uni.

Uni was going to turn the ET ride into Smurfs until Smurfs 2 bombed the box office. that should tell you everything you need to know about their priorites aand why Disney will always win in the end.

Everything you just claimed uni is doing disney does ten fold....they are the ones scrambling to fit IPs into parks. when was the last timeless ride built? the Mermaid ride was a simple cut and paste minus que and the dwarfs coaster was cut several times in development into the mini 120 minute wait generator it is now. Before that i think tower of terror was the last smash hit. Frozen being shoehorned into a crap attraction woefully undersized for its own popularity is what you claim uni is doing....going for what is popular now. Star wars could be called timeless BUT there NOT building star wars land because of the 70s movies there building it because of the new movies.... im not disagreeing with your points im just letting you know disney is,doing the same thing....minus the great rides.

Ack, don't defend the Transformers show building! Agree with everything else, and it is a fairly wonderful ride. One built at amazing lightening speeds that we will likely never see again from either company...
Exterior is a bit lacking interior is fine by me.

But the building... Ya it looks like it was designed and built in 9 months.

It's forgiven by circumstance only, barely.

That is a bit dark and 'gritty' for Pixar's youngest skewing IP. Are they trying to make the dads cry before they even take their kids to go to the movie?

Dunno, but the overly serious tone for a sequel to Pixar's silliest and most frivolous (worst) franchise seems unearned and miscalculated. I guess there are people out there that care about these characters but this teaser made my eyes roll harder than Buescher at Talladega.

I'd want to know the exact wording. If it is "GotG isn't taking over HS's ToT", then that leaves room for a Doctor Strange takeover. If it was, "no Marvel takeover..." then it won't be touched.

This was my exact thought when this news initially came out. Given how well Doctor Strange performed, I wonder if they are considering a Doctor Strange ToT makeover instead. The theme would certainly make more sense than a forced GotG theme, given that there is so much movement and manipulation of perspective in Doctor Strange. They could come up with something pretty cool that would be easier to stomach (though only easier by comparison, of course). That would leave them open to turn RRC into Rocket's Roller Coaster and do a full GotG theme there with a fully themed pre-show, etc. Not ideal, but I'd put my money on that sort of plan.
