That might be a controversial reason, but there are many theories for this. I don't think cuteness started becoming popular in Japan until the 1970's.

True. ... Just when Japan had recovered from the war (thanks to our rebuilding efforts) and was a major producer of autos and electronics. In other words, when Japan was becoming a financial force, the movement started (great exhibit on this now at the Japan pavilion at EPCOT).

I commented that the Hall of Presidents was odd in that it idolized everyone equally, and it got deleted.

Well, really it picks and chooses. It has always been a homage to Lincoln, first and foremost. ... But Washington and Jackson have also always gotten lots of attention. Of late, you could add both Teddy and FDR.

I truly don't think I will be able to enter the attraction when it reopens, but that's me ...

No politics, I've been bitten too.

Not positive or negative. Unless you're a senior poster, then it's okay.

Not really true. I put out a one-liner about a politician (like calling our governor Voldemort) and it is usually gone before the ink is dry. Frank from New Mexico had a comment about Obama on one thread (not sure which) and it just sits there. Now, I realize that people are likely reporting my posts and the mods can't be everywhere ... but it has never been a fair or equal system. The one thing that almost drove me from this site when I first joined was that it felt like you had to be a staunch right-winger -- think what became the Tea Party -- to be here (something I am not, although no one here ever gets my political leanings right anyway!)

Not too long ago I read an article on Facebook and their culture of secrecy. The short of it was that internally there are no secrets and the result has been very few leaks.

I think that makes a lot of sense. Disney's desire to be in control is over the top ridiculous (worst ever was the BLT theater) ... and it often makes them lie when there's no good reason (my breaking the Guardians Tower tale). You don't want the whole cat out of the bag? Sorry, but things leak. You don't have to lie. Disney could have said, "There will be some Marvelous news about the Tower, but we aren't quite ready to talk about it." instead of ''No, it isn't true. You shouldn't believe what people on the Internet say."

Oh, trust me, you won't be the only one.

I'll be in there day one. It'll make me laugh way harder than MILF ever has- then it'll probably make me cry more than when questioned why MILF was in Tomorrowland or anywhere for that matter (then again, I've only seen MILF once before it was even finished- I really should actually see the thing as a guest). Stephen Colbert had a lull between when he left Comedy Central up until the past few months. Now he's got a comedy gold-mine, though sadly he's also got some horrible biting undertones that convey how sad he is about the whole situation.

Anyway, it'll be worth seeing a time or two. If it's anything like his press conferences or his address to congress, we're in for some truly uncharted territory for that attraction.

First, I have to thank you for caring so deeply about me -- an Internet stranger -- and my well-being. That is very kind of you. And I'm sure you realize I'm much more used to hate and snark, all over opinions about the way media giants are run. I don't know what gave you the idea my health or safety are a concern though. I'm assuming you don't know something I don't.

If I didn't enjoy talking about Chappie and The Weatherman, and so many other things, then I wouldn't do it. I like to see what others in the fan community are thinking as well, as crazy as they often can be. I don't really see myself as a ''superfan" (is that like the SuperFriends?), but been called worse so I'll allow. I wasn't aware that the people you listed all have health problems caused by their participation in the Disney fan community. I doubt that ripping Pressler and Co caused Al to develop Parkinson's (it isn't listed anywhere as a cause). And two of the others seem to have only one obvious physical issue, which likely comes from eating too much and exercising too little (although there are a lot of obese people in the fan community, so maybe I should give you that too!) I'm not talking about Kevin Yee here!
I'm sure you enjoy it, I don't doubt that. Lots of people enjoy destructive behaviors. Look at our past election! ;)

Yee's actually a great guy outside of Disney (which wrecked him- and now he's in Disney AA and is taking sips again, hope he doesn't fall off the wagon). Excellent teacher outside of Disney though. Doob and Bekkah as well at Al have conferred in me or close friends that at the height of their obsessions, that the politics and constant negativity really did affect them emotionally and mentally. Physical is another deal all together, and yes they all clearly have/had other impairments self inflicted or not. Robb Alvey was the same way dating all the way back to newsgroups- the ordeal ended his first marriage (well that and an embezzlement arrest). The (now famous) theme park d-bag used to be a jaded ADD Disneylander and was drummed out of the community for being such a you-know-what. Now he's got his own army of geeks hanging off every word and opinion that he purveys. Much bigger stuff than we're doing on these topics!

I've stepped back quite a bit and intend to do it more so, mostly because I just don't care as much as I once did. But not because of any health reasons. But again, assuming you are sincere, thanks for caring! Yeah, I sorta thought that was the setup to move in for attack. That's OK, you do know I read the entire post first, right? I don't claim to have any great clout in the company. My alter ego does have some power, but not in the ways a typical fan on a site like this is going to understand. And ''a few hundred"?!?! You really think my posts are read by THAT MANY people? I always thought I was read by an average of 22.5 (the half was Frank in New Mexico as he isn't all there) posters. ... Yes, it does bother me when people think they can just borrow something and claim it as their information. I don't need credit for validation. I demand it because it is the right thing to do. ... And, really, if my batting average was .100 or .200 do you really think I'd be doing this? No, you don't have to answer. And I don't "act like the chairman of TWDC's board", but the idea that myself (and many others here) are somehow not competent to talk about the business and creative decisions made by a company like Disney or Comcast is a little crazy. Most of the people here have more knowledge of Disney P&R then Bob Chapek does. Spin that however you like, but it is true.

Of course, the idea that companies the size of Disney and Comcast need people setting any record straight on fan forums is not exactly the stuff that great arguments are made of.
Self deprecation will get you out of anything. But lets not act like you don't have an avid, yet small fan base. :)

Working in the industry?!?! And you can waste your time in forums like this? Well, I suppose it could be true. Either way, you're simply another voice chatting about Disney. People can make their own determinations about your based on what you write. Yes, some people do respect my opinion and enjoy when I can break some news to them. Does it make me better than anyone? No, not really. Does it mean I might have more knowledge or insight? A different perspective? Yes to all.
No doubt, just like Harvey Levin has more knowledge and insight and a different perspective as well. I'm lucky enough to be in a pretty meaningless industry (well not meaningless as far as the parks are concerned, but meaningless to scoopage or high-up decision making) that often does business with theme parks, especially in Orlando- even more so now that IAAPA is coming to town. And like most in this profession, it's a contract/gig affair and jobs come/go. Which is fine, I love travel and my jobs flexible enough to let me go where I want, when I want- or post where/when I want.

You were an early contributor here? Well, I didn't find the site until it had been around for well over a decade, so you could have been anyone. There was some dude named Corrus who apparently was a bitter ex-WDI-FL guy who spilled a lot of secrets here (he was part of a trio of MAGICal leaders -- my pals Lee and Martin were the others). Could that be you? Who knows? ... Thanks for the backhanded compliment. I guess 10% could be worse. You could enjoy nothing I post. Or three percent. ... But you really decided to come back here, start a new account just to combat my ''ridiculous opinions" and provide a fair and balanced view of things? First, my opinions are just that and you or anyone else is free to find them ridiculous or amazing or all points in between. I often find opinions ridiculous on many topics and in many different type of forums. I don't feel the need to join in the discussions.

And you returned at a time when I wasn't that active here. Indeed, I have been away from this site far more than I have been here in the last few years. But I dunno ... maybe you have helped recharge my desire to post since this is like the good old days when someone has something to say but won't come out and say it and engages in these cat and mouse back and forths. Or, more likely, I'll hang around here for a spell and then take off to start hating other Disney resorts around the globe before returning here to spread the word. You know I hate Disney because they wouldn't hire me to be an Imagineer, right?
Got the silly Faux News jab. I'm sure I'm much closer to you on the political/ideological spectrum though given the opinions of yours that I've seen. But your (I'm sure well informed) opinions about Disney aren't really the issue. I don't take the opinions of the National Enquirer seriously either. Unfortunately, your way of reporting things tends to skew towards opinion journalism of the worst sort- and It does bother me that some people lap it up. I've really only been active on 3 or 4 topics at any time too, just the stuff that interests me. Much of the time, it's wondering why or even if people enjoy the 90% of the junk you put out, or if it's to parse through the sillyness to get at which projects are going where around TWDC. I don't doubt that you're connected- but I doubt many of the things you portend to "know" and constantly modify/backtrack on with the typical "things are changing" language.

Cat and mouse though? Am I holding something back? I've been pretty pointed with my criticism of how you run the WDWMagic rumors dept (is that your official title?) I like contributing to the discussion, but I also like to make people aware that much of the stuff you've peddled is ridiculous and off-base. Especially when you feel the need to attack/discredit others who either steal your scoop or have their own sources. I don't really want to function as the purveyor of Disney's corporate dirty laundry, I see nothing to be gained from it. However, I'm perfectly comfortable disputing things I know to be utterly false or carefully crafted to conceal a lack of true knowledge about the subject- and you're just the person who commonly seems to require such a response.

Hi @WDW1974. Any word on the Frozen attraction for DL? I ve been reading rumors that the expansion pad shown in the Mice Chat map for SWL is not for Frozen but for a backstage building. Has folks thinking that Toontown is still on the chopping block. I guess it may be either way though.

Also, is 2020 still realistic for Marvel Land at DCA? The layout of that land is going to be interesting with the Hyperion and animation building right in the middle of everything... or will they be?

Are you kidding me. On multiple occasions you've lamented 'tabloid trash' posts (or just calling others' posts garbage) and this is what you are posting. You've had your monthly rant against @WDW1974 (who responded politely).
You've been very effective in derailing this thread, maybe try a different one if you don't care for what he has to say.

I'm told some of it is people from the northeastern US who couldn't get flights home, and stayed in FL a few days longer.

IIRC, the NY/NJ metro area is the largest source of Orlando tourists outside of Florida. Might make sense.

Right now, in my part of Florida, it's 38 and we're under a freeze warning tomorrow. But thank god we're not this:

Perhaps it's because more people read your posts, so more of them get reported? ;) Had I known about Frank from New Mexico's post it would have been deleted, also. Too bad you can't remember the thread.

I have two Masters degrees, and I'm disillusioned because many of my classmates read the books, passed the classes, and graduated with zero common sense. ;)

Very common problem with 'book smart' people. Always enjoy the times people like this design a system on a simulator and then it does not work in the real world. Then you remind them that components in the real world have tolerances and are not 'perfect' parts
