Salt. Wound. :(

Though, I actually do have hope that they build a new Jaws ride, some day. Technology has gotten better, and it's such a crowd pleaser. It was one of the best rides on the planet because of how "real" it was.
It's the only Uni ride I'll miss even though I feel like Diagon as a whole is a worthy replacement.
It would make sense that they would want to have a long stretch of time before the Olympics to have this land open so Japanese guests can see it before the international guests swarm on the land of the rising sun for the Olympics.
Exactly.

I doubt a lot of the Olympic traffic would take the 3 hour train ride to Osaka. Some may take advantage but most would stay in Tokyo.

The before the Olympics part sounds strange to me... wasn't the rumor for a long time that the Olympics were impacting TDL's ability to get construction crews without paying an arm and a leg? Is Osaka far enough away that it doesn't matter? But if that's the case, then they're probably also far enough away that it doesn't matter whether or not it's ready for the Olympics?

Devil's advocate, the "runaway mine cart on broken tracks" is a pretty common trope in all sorts of video games and adventure movies. It's not necessarily Donkey Kong Country.

Aren't you one of the people who bashed Art of Animation for a similar aesthetic?
Not the same thing at all. And I believe it was the all stars. The all stars aren't even themed, they are decorated motels. Springfield is themed.

The plastic look of Springfield can be found at WDW in the load area of The Little Mermaid and in a lot of places in Frozen Ever After though. Also all over Pandora. It makes the land look CGI even when you are standing in it. I don't hate the plastic look, it makes it look more surrealistic, and more like the source material. It's just different than what we're used to seeing in theme parks. It's a little more colorful, and less photorealistic. That's ok. Do I really want to pose in front of a real life Moe's that looks like a dive bar in the Chicago suburbs?

Gary Snyder, author of "Disney CEO Fumbles Entry to China", has posted attraction renders and an iteration of the layout for Orlando's Super Nintendo World.

This some sort of leak? If so it's a pretty big leak. And that land will be huge if true, 5 mini zones, at least 3 big rides.

Zelda attaction, Donkey Kong Attraction, Mario Kart (Multi-level, multi-track it looks like), Pokemon Trading Academy, and another general stage show. Takes up most all of KidZone (ET will be the only thing left) and about half the expansion pad behind Simpsons. It's very big.

Looks pretty cool.

Couple of questions for those more in the know:
  1. Will we be driving the karts in the Mario Kart ride or is it on fixed track? I assume we don't actually control the karts since it's probably impractical but it would be super cool if we did:cool:
  2. Is the Zelda thing a walk through or a ride? Looks too small to be a large ride, but even if it's not it would still be cool to walk through the virtual world of the game.
  3. It looks to me like the front part near peach's castle will have a kids play area and also an arcade area with potentially some smaller rides/simulators. If true, this is a really smart move. Universal definitely needs more areas and rides without height restrictions. I can see this whole project being very popular for kids and families.

There are only so many construction companies who can build at Disney and Olympic levels and i imagine most of them are doing Olympic Projects in Japan now

It's about a six hour drive between Tokyo Disney Resort and Universal Studios Japan. The bullet train really helps with travel times, but would a construction crew be commuting that far?

Over on OU this was declared as very old and the initial pitch to sell Nintendo on the idea. There's no Kirby, Zelda, or Pokémon anymore which I think is good because those last two deserve their own lands in IoA and Site B. I'm asking how relevant the rest of it is. The Yoshi dark ride that's been rumored might be what replaced that pitifully small Zelda area.
DHS should have this type of thing for Pixar land, not just Toy Story.
Oh yeah.
