A Spirited Valentine ...

@WDW1974 - did you see this piece in the LA Times? It's amazing that Disney would rather close a show than pay a handful of CMs a decent wage each day.

http://www.latimes.com/business/hollywood/la-fi-ct-disneyland-puppets-20170208-story.html

OC Weekly ran the story as well, with a slightly more provocative headline:

http://www.ocweekly.com/news/is-disney-union-busting-california-adventure-puppeteers-7891181

In addition to my other comments if Disney were to get a STRONG union in place labor cost would rise significantly and it's abusive (to workers) policies would have to change as their current unions can most charitably be referred to as TAME unions. By no means does TWDC want an effective union presence at the parks.

By actions like these TWDC is ensuring they get an aggressive union as companies generally get the unions they deserve.

For example the MOST heavily unionized air carrier is Southwest but because of the companies employee friendly policies and 'open book's accounting SWA basically does not have labor problems. Compare to American/United and other US carriers.

Angry is an understatement.

Hi, first time poster, long time reader here. You may know me as 'Emperor Iger,' the somtimes-funny (?) FORMER Twitter PARODY account. Three days ago, Twitter suspended my account without warning. After a few email exchanges, I learned that they had shut down my account for IMPERSONATION of Bob Iger. Upon appeal, they told me my account would not be restored because it was "portraying a brand in a deceptive manner." The fact that I called myself an EMPEROR could've been confusing to some? Who knows? But it was shut down FOREVER. No warning. No 'change your name.'

What was I tweeting about? The new Groot Jeopardy attraction in FW. The Tower of Groot at DHS. The new Moana boat ride in Mexico. Cupcake Parties for everything (and a love for Sprinkles). Vowels at STK. Bringing back cabanas for guests who are allergic to the '99%.' Tunnels connecting the parks (as seen on Blackish). Swimming in my money vault. Swimming with gators. The Rivers of Light....(insert joke here). And BLOGGERS.

Not being paranoid, but reporting a parody account as a violation of Twitter TOC's seems to align with the above post. They are angry because they can't control their image. Why go after a dumb Twitter account?

I lost 1,000+ followers, but I'm not going to quit making fun of the absurd.

Thanks for your time.

Too bad I missed your account. It sounds entertaining. I just went and made sure that another WDW parody account I truly love still exists. I didn't type the name on purpose...

No it's not, Disney is all about the bucks these days Guest satisfaction and show quality are far lower priorities than pumping the stock at the top of a hot market

It's no longer, "Safety. Courtesy. Show. Efficiency". It's now, "Profit. Margin. Cost Containment. Bonuses."

Edit: You could replace "Bonuses" with "Stock Buybacks".

I actually tried out the Spring Hill Suites out there in the middle of nowhere recently. Paid about $85 a night for a suite that puts any Disney value or moderate room to shame (except for the theming I hear the whining from here). Very nice and relaxing and easy access to WDW, especially DAK, BB and then EPCOT and that whole area. But there is an 'off' vibe about the area because ... well, there is absolutely nothing out there. And when there is soon, it will be new ghetto housing for WDW CPers. I will resort (pun intended) to my 2007 position and say this development was a bad idea.

BUT ... it is a great place to stay. I have checked and out of Marriott's dozens of properties within 20 miles of WDW, this place is almost always the LEAST expensive. It is a great choice to stay at for a Disney or even UNI vacation.

i was being generous with rate i just checked and yeah we paid 88 or so all said and done. its a shame that the area will be ruined as you say.

Are they transferring all CP housing there, or just in addition to Vita Way and the 3 other Apt complexes?

The comparison of a ghetto to Disneys company town is unfair to ghettos and barrios everywhere.

At least in a ghetto you are not contractually obligated to live there and give your employer a substantial chunk of your after tax income for the privilege of living there...
