As in USF's attendance for 2014 was only 8million? Or that the attendance went up by 8 million?

If it's the first, you're low by quite a bit. If it's the latter...that's crazy.
Islands of Adventure, 8.1 (+2.0%)

Universal Studios, 7.1 (+14.0%)
these are the numbers from last year so if they went up to 8.5 and 8.0 that would be a good jump

Another really big quarter over at Uni revenue increase from $487 million to $651 million , from http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/os-comcast-earnings-20150501-story.html

Diagon and Cabana Bay worked.

"Universal’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley drove a 33.7 percent year-over-year increase in first-quarter theme-park revenue, which was $651 million. Operating cash flow increased 54.6 percent to $263 million for the division.

At the NBCUniversal division, “the biggest highlight of all may have been at the theme parks,” Comcast Chief Executive Officer Brian Roberts told analysts Monday morning.

Nearly 80 percent of Orlando visitors chose two-park tickets –the only way guests can ride the Hogwarts Express train between Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure next door. Season pass sales, meanwhile, were at an all time high.

Over half of the capital expenditures at Comcast’s NBCUniversal division will be directed at theme parks this year. The parks have become an increasingly important part of Comcast’s business – making up 20 to 25 percent of the company’s operating cash flow. The parks are expected to generate more than $1.3 billion in operating cash flow this year.

The company expects to open one new attraction a year at each of the major theme park locations. Comcast also owns Universal Studios in Hollywood."

Most telling is this line:

“Theme parks, I think, when we first showed up, were something that came with the rest of the company,” Burke said. “Now they’re right at the core of what we’re all about and we think provide a tremendous growth opportunity.”
Nothing but good news for the little resort that could. Can't wait for my night at Cabana Bay later this week :)

The Marvel movies are moving towards Avengers (and many others) vs Thanos...the big bad in the MCU. That's what Avengers Infinity War part 1 and 2 is all about. It's explained in GotG and Avengers 2, but the 6 infinity stones are the most powerful things in the universe, and the infinity gauntlet is a glove that holds them. If one acquires all 6 and places them in the glove, they basically control the universe.

When do you get to the final showdown? 50 movies later? 500 formulaic CGI battles later?

Of course, it's more likely that we'll never get to the final showdown because there's always another episode waiting around the corner (or another movie in preproduction).

Kong ain't Potter.

Nope. But IoA and USF are pretty massively ahead of last year's numbers so far in 2015. IoA will have a bigger jump this year (2015) then what we'll see for 2014, if I was a betting man.

Also, remember that Transformers and Simpsons both gave USF a double digit percentage increase to USF. If Kong turns out as good as it should, and is marketed properly, there's no reason why it can't add 10-15% to IoA's numbers in 2016.

Where's that fire truck guy who camped out here for months saying that guests wouldn't be pressured into buying parkhopper tickets?

How many of those incremental clicks are paying customers? It's easy to get passholders to use their passes more frequently, but you don't get much more than a small bump in chicken strip sales from it. Potter brought people from Philadelphia on airplanes into hotel rooms. People who never would have come otherwise. Kong (and the like) will bring incremental clicks from passholders and locals.

Disney plays the same game with CM blockout dates. Clicks need a bump? Lift some blockout dates.

What's with the exaggeration?

I get that it's not everyone's cup of tea, and that's fine, but the answers to these questions aren't so convoluted that only really geeky comic book people get them.

May 2019 - Avengers Infinity War Part 2 - that's the big showdown. Will there be more after? Most likely. But again, how is that any different than other movie franchises?
