A Spirited Perfect Ten

I don't want to play the 'net/fanverse speculation game because there is no winning that as the Micechat bois found out when they put out the TRUE story about the original plans for SW at DL. Remember that? Subs and Autopia and Innoventions all going away. Attractions largely based on original trilogy?

That was true at the time. Things changed and they got hammered for making up a story. Only they didn't.

Look, Bob Iger and Tom Staggs have both publicly gone on the record numerous times and said SW is coming. The product will be going into/replacing Toontown in Anaheim and into whatever you want to call TPFKaTD-MGMS. I've been told that Disney has no active plans for SW in the international parks (weird because Disney has prominent billboards for The Force Awakens in Hong Kong RIGHT NOW!) beyond ST 2.0 and Jedi Academy and shopping/dining at DLP. This stuff all goes to DL and WDW.

They have to announce something at D23. Or you'd sure think. But I'm not sure they won't tease.
Maybe they wait until after the film debuts (almost a year from now). I just don't know.

I do know that Disney is saving a lot on labor by closing half a park (including labor intensive attractions) and that a whole lot more that SW will be coming. I just see no reason to get excited that Disney decides in May to invite blogging whores to an event celebrating flat rides themed to Toy Story coming and their newest DVC property and a few new dining locales ... that's what Dr. Blondie and Crazy Gary get paid for.

Help any?

Are you telling me that Disney is indecisive? I don't buy it. Are you telling me that when the initial reports from you that Star Wars content was going to go overseas first wasn't you just making stuff up? I don't buy it.

People need to realize how fluid 5 and 10 year plans are. Very rarely do they every play out as originally intended. Now, on to the actual stateside content here:

I'll take this to mean that the Toy Story Playland stuff will be announced before the D23 Expo?

In other news, Spirit... I watched Agent Carter and thought it was actually very good. @Lee will hopefully share his opinions because I can't imagine he didn't watch. Full disclosure I am a Marvel fan but the show was well done and two episodes in and it's decidedly better than Shield, which I like, especially this season.

If I had to complain about one thing (and you know I do), then I'd say that the adult pool area wasn't well thought out in location/logistics. It is sorta hidden on Deck 12 with very few chairs, especially for folks wanting to get sun. The jacuzzis have been relocated under cover on the side of the ship and noise tends to bounce off the deck above making conversations tough. And if you want to sun bathe before swimming, you really need to go up to Deck 13, which is sorta ridiculous.

I think the bigger weakness is that the pool is right there with the major through-way from the forward elevators and Concierge area... making traffic from minors almost unavoidable. I think the sun area on the upper level is adequate if you want to be near the pool/bar... but my by far preferred area is up front near the satellite pool. It's FAR quieter, less trafficked, much more seating, shade AND sun, and there is still the relax pool for those that want it.

On the fantasy they supposedly fixed the dead area behind the aquaduck by making it a splash zone vs an underused bar.

The 'bar that must be sought to find' is there on the Fantasy even with the kiddie water area... It's just a small one on the port side that basically exists only along the walkway to the sports area.

I'm sure being sent to work that bar must feel like being sent to Siberia :)

I'm saying that Disney is that indecisive when it comes to CapEx. I'm saying that the last I heard SW wise (and not the drunken guest relations girl from the studios playing trivia last Monday who was shooting her mouth off about this) was that they were going to wait to see how the movie was received before starting in Orlando.

Of course, The track record that Star Wars has had at the box office throughout history says it's going to be a success. So I'm not sure why they are dragging their feet…

It shouldn't but it boggles my mind they want to wait. They just hope they don't have to spend the money. I find it kind of sad Disneyland might get Star Wars land before Hollywood Studios does. No offense to Disneyland but it just makes perfect sense for Hollywood Studios.

I don't think the target demographic is downloading torrents and watching it on their Commodore 64 in their mom's basement. So, probably not too damaging.
What's more surprising is that it took this long, considering the screener has been out for two weeks.

All movies are generally available after some time. The movie's demographic however is not going to be your run of the mill torrent downloaders.
When the Sony leak happened, the real concern was about Fury having been released, and very little concern for Annie or Mr. Turner. Family films and independent films aren't big downloads. I didn't understand the big fuss about Fury, since it had been in theaters for over a month by the time the screener leaked online.

I have always found it odd that they are choosing to put Star Wars Land where Mickey's Toon Town currently exists. Don't they have to close this section early on nights that they have fireworks?

Having these slow roll outs for film and TV shows in this day and age is flat out archaic. They don't even show movies on film anymore, so why should Australia (for example) have to wait 6 months to get an American release? There's a reason why it has been consistently ranked one of the worst countries for downloading movies illegally.

Big Hero 6 comes out on Blu-Ray in the USA less than a month after it hits UK cinemas, and is available for streaming less than 4 days later. Given the cost of cinema tickets, it would be easier for someone in Britain to just pre-order and import the Blu-Ray and skip the cinema part entirely.

Most movies and TV shows are pretty good about keeping international releases consistent, but for some reason Disney always drags its feet with releases, but they can't keep that up forever as viewing habits change. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Big Hero 6 high on a list of most pirated films, because of the long delay.

You'd be hard pressed to find a major movie in at least the past 2 years that hasn't been available online within a month of it's release. This is the nature of movies nowadays, and the industry isn't collapsing. All they can do is make sure it's not TOO easy to get. The path of least resistance is to pay to see it legally, so that's what most people who really want to see it will do.
Sorry to say but it's not every movie and it's most definitly not within a month of it's release. Now if we are talking a bootleg with crappy quality that is from someone's camcorder I would agree. Films that come out between the span of november and december which are gearing up for award seasons with dvd screeners? That's a different story.
