Exactly, which is why it's dangerous to pretend to know what Walt Disney would do today.
However, core values change only infrequently.
From Day One, Eisner's core value was "Eisner needs to make a lot of money." How he went about that changed as the business environment changed.
Walt Disney's core value was, "It's my name on it; I want to produce a quality product at a fair price." Walt Disney genuinely seemed to care what the public (his "Guests") thought, even if he was a difficult boss. (From everything I've read, I would not have wanted to work for Walt Disney.) If Walt Disney were magically transported from 50 years in the past, it is reasonable to assume his core value would not change.

The individual who first told me about plans for TDR last year sent a note along with a lot of things I can't repeat (sorry, you do know how this goes!) but the one thing he/she told me that I can say is that I was told I'll ''pee my pants'' over the new Alice attraction (not the maze) for TDL.
Thats hatred. That's malicious. If this is how the execs think, coupled with Ford's views on their outlook stated above, then they have moved beyond not caring about their guests, and into active dislike.
And now for a totally different tangent.....new pictures for the paramount park in London have come out,ye olde England comes to mind, but looks good to me ,what's everyone else think?possible big rival to Disneyland Paris? The addition of a huge indoor waterpark will definitely be one huge advantage over disneyland, and according to the link below there will be 40+ rides and shows.....look at first picture in the first link, and the absolutely huge rollercoaster there seems to be in the background, hopefully someone can get a picture of the scale model they are showing off at workshops from today for the next month of the whole park!

Yes that would be an accurate statement to the price of hotels within the toursit district. Now can we see the price going up soon yes. According to the Rosen College of Hospitality- UCF, the prices will go up as the demand for more hotels as well as influx of more tourist come into play. Eventually I believe that there will be a need for a new Hotel Strip similar to the current I-Drive but with more Vegas looking Resorts and hotels so that the companies that own them can make more money. Due in part to the Seminole and Micosukee Tribes of Florida Gambling will never be made legal in the State of Florida, but Casino Like Resorts will be the future of Orlando Tourism. It's only a matter of time before the concept comes up as vacancy becomes a problem as more and more guest come into Orlando than ever before.
Yeah, that was part of my rant about 12 hours ago.
It is a top down culture issue. Leadership of the company has no respect for themed entertainment and it's probably not a very popular thing to say, but it probably started with Roy E. Disney, who was more concerned with the ailing film business when he had his brother-in-law ousted. And it makes sense that he would see the parks as second fiddle. Disneyland and how WED Enterprises and everything was organized caused one of the biggest fights between his dad and uncle. His dad then heldoff his retirement to build another theme park and then died shortly thereafter. You then get Eisner's demands for double digit growth, so he brings in a guy who completely changes the business model of Disneyland to be that of a mall. Before and concurrent to this his Strategic Planning group is caught up in buzzwords like synergy as they map out a media empire that to their minds is hurt by expensive, high risk theme parks that nobody else in the world of Hollywood takes all that seriously. Pressler was booted but the Strategic Planning boys were promoted to take over and succeed Eisner, who fell because their view of how the Company should operate. This is a serious question. Why is it, according to many here, that TWDC, and more specifically TDO, hates its guests? What is it that causes such maliciousness to take place in Florida? I own a small business, and the idea of hating my customers is so completely foreign to me.
In a nutshell, Disney used to make money when the Value Resorts rooms were $60/night. They're making a heck of a lot more today.
I've been ranting far too much the past 48 hours ... I think I'll go out for a nice mid-range filet (one that will cost maybe $20-24) soon! Mmmm... beef ...
It's moving ahead very slowly. But I'll believe it's being built when it actually happens. Too many parks like this get proposed and money is spent with designers, but nothing ever happens. London could certainly use a park.

So I didn't say on property this last trip. Too expensive. The only thing available was a moderate. Even with the cast member rate? They wanted $500 for three nights.
(All of the value resorts were taken up by the cheerleading and dance competitions that were in town)
Then how on earth do you get a monorail on a tractor trailer through? PR stunt for the blog up?No, it took some serious work and an out of state license to get parked at a resort this trip.

The loss of your business is no injury to them. As long as there are suckers in the world, WDW will always thrive on it's current pricing scale.I get it. It doesn't seem all that long ago that I was paying $69 a night at Port Orleans or $99 at DAK Lodge.
I just refuse to pay their current prices. I have some idea of the value of money and what they are offering at those price points doesn't come close to being a value in any sense of the word.
That's why I don't "get" steakhouses. If you know how to cook beef, there's nothing complicated in replicating the quality and flavor for much lower cost. I am unable to replicate a scallop risotto dish, however, so I'm more likely to go with something along those lines for my fine dining selections (as rare as those are).Ive been cooking my own. I've become a complete steak snob. Thick thick filets cooked for 3-3 1/2 minutes a side over charcoal. Basted in olive oil with just kosher salt and pepper on it. Nice medium rare, paired with a nice cabernet.
All of those words to get to the above conclusion!
But worth repeating. Disney was making money at the original opening rate of $59 a night in 1994-95. Now, those tiny motel rooms can be over $200 at Christmas and most people are paying well over $100 a night to stay there. I'd say Disney is doing just fine ... of course, in five years when rack rate is $200 most of the year and they can't DVC those, what exactly is the business plan? Does one exist? Does anyone care?

Regardless, filet is too lean for me. I'll cook a bone-in New York strip as my go-to. Olive oil, salt, and pepper over charcoal same as you. Garlic salt if I'm feeling crazy.
