I think they do that without knowing about DisneySea. As much as I love Tokyo itself, DisneySea is just such a unique and remarkable place in its own right.

Let's see, how rich would I need to be to book a hotel room at the MiraCosta for the rest of my life? :p

Yeah I think lots of Americans don't realise that there are two parks, or how amazing DisneySea is, but instead think Tokyo Disneyland is just a Disneyland Lite park.

So glad you enjoyed it.

Lots of people balk at the idea of spending time in a Disney park when visiting Japan, but many don't realise that you actually get *more* of a cultural experience seeing how the Japanese spend their time off, how they do things differently, than just visiting tourist sights, as the basis of familiarity means the differences stand out much more strikingly and you'll feel like you've had an authentically Japanese experience.

That's very true- we definitely got to see families interacting, friends socialising, all different generations- it was quite interesting to see. You really do see more of the Japanese culture and behaviour than you'd think.

Another gem I hope you were able to experience was their Splash Mountain...it's deceptively very similar but also vastly superior to the American versions.

Unfortunately not! We had a very whirlwind trip there so didn't get too many rides done & prioritised the rides we don't have in the World & California. Definitely hope to go back with a plan & to try everything one day!

Glad you enjoyed it even if it was crowded. As everyone else said weekends and holiday's are madness. It's a locals park so go when they are at work and school.

Yes I encourage anyone that can to go to Japan. You won't regret it. Tokyo is one of the best cities in the world and Kyoto maybe even better! TOT at TDS has the DCA ride setup, but the preshow it awesome even if it is told in Japanese. You can ask for a story paper for that and other rides there that give you the backstory in English. A lot of times cm's will just give you one if you look like a westerner.

Ah that's interesting to know! We weren't handed any this time, but handy to know for next time. Though it didn't detract from the rides not understanding the narration still. So would of loved to of tried ToT- if the detail on the outside matches the pre show I can see how it would be great!

Those pre-show treasure rooms at ToT are incredible, mini-museums. I almost wanted to ask to not bother with the ride part and just be allowed half an hour to look at all the props and exhibits, and with (I think) four different rooms you could end up in, the pre-show has lots of variety.

Oh one other thing about Tokyo Disneyland- considering people's opinions on the new hub... what are the thoughts on Tokyo's rows and rows of permanent metal benches in the hub for viewing fireworks and shows?!

Those don't look very permanent to me. Were they cemented in place? You can see the lock for the legs like you see on portable tables.

Permanent was probably the wrong word to use, but I meant there all day and evening- and I assume for more than the day I was there for. I thought they were a bit of an eyesore was all.

And to add if you were inclined to listen to these pontificators you don't need ESPN to do so. They podcast virtually all of these shows and you can listen for free online. No subscription to ESPN required.

The only reason to have ESPN or any of these sports networks is to watch sports live.

Those are not 'free' they cost ESPN money to produce. Once the cable subs dry up those will as well. The question is how many people are willing to pay $15-30 dollars per month for a sports subscription. If the 'Sporting News' was any indicator relatively few

Huge news. Universal is going to reaquire all the old Lockheed property it sold years ago.

http://www.growthspotter.com/news/i...olony-capital-s-474-acres-20151201-story.html

Also the property contract for Universal and this land was confirmed at the Skyplex zoning meeting tonight (It was unanimously approved)
It should be noted that this property, that is large enough for a 3rd gate and a 3rd dining/entertainment district (2nd going where WnW is), is adjacent to The Orange County Convention Center.

Very exciting times ahead :D I guess it goes without saying that whatever ends up on this land will be very far down the road, correct? I'd love if Universal built a park of similar size to Epcot on this land but I should probably be more realistic :inlove: I just hope Disney continues on their current pace with Avatar, Toy Story, Star Wars, and whatever else comes to DHS.
