A Spirited Dirty Dozen ...

They need to hire Cesar as a consultant if they're doing meme characters.

I can just see Orson Welles and Jean-Luc Picard teaming up to fight against fist-pump baby and Willy Wonka.

Although rather than Wreck-It Ralph, I suspect the sequel to The Emoji Movie is probably a better bet for meme-land.

Not sure if I will be a perfect fit on that. I'm not that expert. Hell I haven't reached "dank memes" level.

I keep reading about how low attendance seems to be this summer at both Disney and Universal. I hope it doesn't cause either of them to put the brakes on future projects.

I was at DLR yesterday. I got there at 7pm and there were still FPs available for a lot of the E tickets. I'm thinking its a combination of the lower tier APs being blacked out and maybe all of the recent terror attacks. Not sure about why this is the case at Universal.

Recall that much of the construction of the original WWOHP happened during the last recession.

In response to the last recession, Disney offered deep discounts to bring Guests back into the parks. Those huge discounts severely hurt margins, with Disney Parks & Resorts reporting 3 of its 4 lowest margins ever from 2009 to 2011. From 2008 to 2010, domestic revenue fell 6%.

Meanwhile, at Universal, operating margin went from 23.8% in 2009 to 32.8% in 2011. For those same years, revenue increased by 66%.

As Universal demonstrated with WWOHP, new lands with appealing IP's help no matter what the economic climate.

Disney would be wise not to make the same mistake twice.

Maybe Disney should take advantage and double down on getting TSL and SWL finished then :)
Lower attendance this summer is still way higher than that of five years ago
Still I was very surprised to see the wait times I did last weekend. I think the highest wait time I saw all weekend besides Frozen was Transformers at 90 for who knows what reason while everything else at Uni, including Potter, wasn't even close to that o_O

I'm very tempted to take advantage of the crowds again once Kong officially opens or shows signs of being much more reliable during softs since I wasn't able to get on.

I totally expected The BFG to bomb but not all the way in *fourth* place behind that awful Purge movie and Tarzan. Like, wow. The BFG looks really good and the reviews were positive.

This is not like Alice. I am not a Tim Burton fan so I wasn't planning on seeing it anyway and it didn't look good. I liked the soundtrack though.

The only reason BFG failed so bad has to be poor timing. It does *not* look like summer and it doesn't feel like summer. This is a Thanksgiving type of movie -- even the preview shows the giant sitting down and enjoying this massive feast with the Queen. I can't wait to see it on video though and I bet Disney releases BFG just in time for Thanksgiving. LOL.

Frankly, I thought the BFG trailer was creepy as all get out and the giants were YUCK.

Also, Roald Dahl wrote nightmarish children's books. The guy was mental. Just my opinion.

Too bad about the movie though.

Also, speaking of Box Office..
Dory is already at 380 million.
At this rate it will demolish Shrek 2's, finding nemo's and maybe even Frozen's..
That must be some fast inflation if Finding Dory passes Frozen's box office.
Oh, and adjusted for inflation? Not a chance.

I wish I would have seen this first, lol.

The last Roald Dahl book that I read was so awful I never finished it. I can't remember the name but it was about a little boy and his grandmother, who was some kind of witch or monster and he tried to poison her. I just remember crying and my parents taking the book and I never saw it or read any more Dahl books again. And, I don't know anything about his personal life. But, The BFG movie was nowhere near as bad as that book. LOL. I was terrified Sleeping Beauty, too!

Anyway, we all decided to go to the movies yesterday, everyone went to see Tarzan and there were only three of us who chose BFG.

The ticket guy asked us, "are you sure you want to see this?" Seriously. And, our theater was pretty much empty.

The preview that I saw did *not* show those gruesome giants, at all. Like, I did not eat or drink anything during this entire film because I was so grossed out.

And while The BFG did have some endearing moments they were too far and few between to have any real significance. BFG wasn't the worst movie I've seen but I will never watch it again. It's not a Thanksgiving or Holiday movie either -- it should have come out some time around Halloween. Disney should have known better with this one.
